I've been looking around for the past week for some information on just how dysfunctional this parliament really was. It looks like they managed to pass 63 bills, which is about average, but what I'm really interested in is how many of them were confidence motions. It seemed at the time as though every other bill was a confidence motion that the Liberals walked out on, but I can't seem to find any numbers for that.

The one and only game of PnP D&D I played consisted of a party of 4 modified wizards going on some sort of quest that would stand in for the exam at their school. The group of four was supposed to pass through a portal and explore the surrounding area for a magic staff of something that I can't remember. After going through the portal we found a couple empty rooms and a hallway that was blocked off by a huge pile of rubble. Being the haughty wizards that we were, we took the direct approach and started digging. Apparently the other groups that played this adventure were too high class for digging and summoned help to dig for them. Anyway, we cleared a hole in the rubble to crawl through. As the last of us was pulled through the tunnel a large floating fireball rounded a corner at the far end of the hallway and started to come towards us. We panicked like little school children and ran for cover. In the first room on the left was a large stone table that the four of us climbed up onto just as the fireball caught up to us. In moments it was joined by a second fireball. Just picture this. 4 mages standing huddle in the centre of a large stone table that is being circled by a pair of floating fireballs. Since the unofficial motto of this group eventually became "Let's do something stupid!" someone decided to try to put out one of the fireballs. He had no water though. One guy decided to improvise. "I drop my pants and urinate on one of the fireballs!" "You what?!" "I drop my pants and---" *dm facepalm* "Roll 1d6. You succeed on a 6." *player rolls a die. It was a 6* "Woo! Take that you stupid fireball!" "The fireball stops circling the table and floats off into a corner. If it had feelings, it would probably be experiencing humiliation right now." At this point we decided to make a break for it. One at a time we run out of the room, down the hall, around a corner and down another hall. In this second hallway are three obstacles. The first is that for the first 10 feet of the hallway, the floor wasn't solid. If you stepped on this section you fall about 3 feet. The second obstacle was the wizard's ghost guarding the end of this hallway. The third obstacle was the wall of flame right behind the ghost. Our trip went something like this: The gnome jumps off the table and runs for the hallway. Falls into the false floor and gets stuck. He calls for help. The second person jumps off the table and runs for the hallway. Uses the gnome's head as a stepping stone across the false floor as he runs past the ghost and jumps through the wall of flame. Ended his turn at -4HP. The third person jumps off the table and runs for the hallway. The gnome has escaped the false floor. Person three jumps over the false floor. Both the gnome and person three run past the gnome and jump through the wall of flame. Gnome is now at -9HP (couldn't jump as high, took more damage) and person three is at -3HP. I jump off the table and ran for the hallway. I jump across the false floor, run past the ghost and jump through the flames. I am at 0HP. My companions are lying all around me, mostly well done, although the gnome is extra crispy. I force-feed the gnome a healing potion to stabilize him. *rolls for HP healed. rolls a 2* The gnome is now at -6HP. Luckily the next room in the hallway had a bed. With our one and only healing potion used up I manage to cram everyone else onto the bed and convince the DM that they should get the extra HP per day of healing for bed rest because the entry doesn't say anything about how many nearly dead bodies you can pile onto a bed before the bed loses any extra healing ability. We sleep for a week to regain HP. Thankfully no wandering monsters disturb us. Now here's the way this encounter was supposed to go. You guys have 4 mages in the party. You were actually supposed to fight the fireballs/ghost with your magic. The ghost was guarding a ring of fire resistance that should have been used to safely traverse the wall of fire. Afterwards we found out that the other three groups that had gone through this adventure had used nearly their full 4 hours. We made it through in a little over two hours thanks to our policy of charging headlong into everything except the rat swarm which was quickly dealt with by a combo of grease, burning hands and a hastily shut door.

To be fair, two of them weren't serious threads, but that's still a lot of threads on the same subject. Glad to see that this has been condensed into a single thread.

Dead Space Gets Internationally Banned

Already forgotten about Space Siege have we? -
I still need to beat Contra 4 on something other than easy. The farthest I've gotten on normal was level 5, and hard was a pitiful level 3. Damn that game and it's "Playing on easy mode are we? Well screw you! You don't get to play the last three levels then!" ending!

Damnit! You jerk! You just reminded me that I missed one of my Economics assignments! Argh! I hate the stupid things! I never remember to do them before the deadline!

Did anyone else catch the Montreal-Detroit game tonight? Price made an awesome save in the third period. The puck went up off his blocker and was going to bounce over his arm and into the net. Holmstrom tried to knock it out of the air and in, but Price beat him to it as he twisted around and slapped the puck away with his stick before it got anywhere near the goal line. Totally awesome save.

I spent pretty much all day sleeping. Some bug caught up with my last night after I got back from playing some Battletech and just completely knocked me flat. Had to call my employer to tell them that I wouldn't be able to make it to the job today.

In about 2 years.

That's what the "Helmet of Charm Protection" (I can't remember if that is the real name) is for. It may look horrible to have those stupid wings on your head when you are using anything other than metal armour, but if it saves me a reload, I'm more than willing to put up with it.

Local RPG convention is being held this weekend. I played Battletech all day today. Also got a game of Aerotech in at the very end with made for a really nice finish. Got some pictures of the board for that one. The first picture shows the two of us on the second last turn. We ran straight at each other and both nailed the other with a bunch of weapons. I hit him with an AC20 and he hit me with a PPC. The black die indicates current velocity (ie, how far you can move), while the red shows current altitude (on a scale of 0-11 with 0 being the ground, and 11 being in space). We were both pretty high up. I lost initiative on the last turn so I had to move first. I dropped down three levels to level 5 (gaining one velocity) and adding another 5 velocity with my thrusters so I shot out underneath and past him like a rocket. You may notice in the second picture that I'm not at level 5 like I said I was. That's because whenever you drop three levels in a single move, you must make a piloting skill check. I happened to fail that check (I missed getting 6 or better on 2D6 ). If you fail a piloting skill check in a fighter you immediately drop 1D6 levels. I rolled a four indicating that I managed to pull up just in time to avoid slamming into the ground and taking 2D6*10*6 damage on a ship that only has 200 armour before it get's shot to pieces. Here comes the fun bit. Each vertical level counts as two hexes for the purpose of firing ranges. My opponent attempted to join me by diving down to level three, but he also failed his piloting check (Second 6 or better check missed in a row between the two of us). The big black and red die in the final picture shows what he rolled to determine how many levels he fell for the failed check. He smashed into the ground going nearly 800MPH. We rolled the die for fun, to see just how badly his fighter got shmucked. Hi's fighter with 60 armour left got hit for over 300 points of damage on impact. Needless to say, there wasn't much left of that fighter.

If only. It can be hard going through life without a sense of humour. Hopefully when mine is finally delivered it won't be defective like the ones that some people have received.

It's good to see that you still have a sense of humour.

It's true. If nothing changes on your computer you are free to re-install as many times as you want. If you have/want to swap out parts, that can change the hardware signature and will use up a new activation. It wouldn't be quite so bad if they would tell you just tell you what constitutes a new machine. Some people have been able to get away with changing video cards, while others have been dinged by sound cards or even NICs. Also, I'm unaware just how a reformat affects the whole process, but I've been under the impression that such a thing would also require a new activation.

I started playing Commander Keen when I was three. Those stupid slugs with their green glowing nuclear poop and that glare scared me. Anything that moved faster than those guys really scared me. After that I recall playing hotseat games of Empire Deluxe against my dad and my uncle. Those were some really fun games, even if I wasn't as good at the strategy aspects of those games as they were. I remember building my first battleship in one game and sending it out alone. Ran into a sub in the middle of the ocean and spent the next 15 turns running my brand new battleship away before I finally lost that sub. From there until I got my first copy of Command and Conquer Red Alert (burned for me by my uncle), the vast majority of my gaming was limited to shareware like Galatix, Cosmo's Cosmic Adventures and various other games that I only have vague hazy memories of now. First console was an N64 that was bought as a joint Christmas gift by several relatives for myself and my brother. It was such a huge surprise that I didn't believe that I actually got it until the next day when I woke up and it was still there. All I asked for was a gameboy and I was told "Not a chance" for that, yet I somehow got an N64. Turns out it was a fluke that I got it. When my grandparents called to see if this would be an okay present, my dad picked up the phone and said sure. He my mom picked up the phone, as I was later told, she would have instantly said "no way". Now I have a Wii and a pretty nice PC for all my gaming needs. I hope to have a 360 at some point in the near future as well.

Has an unknown amount of alts and is still around... Half of all forum members are alts of Hades. It's so that he can hide how many posts he really has.

I couldn't believe they actually added something like that the first time I played through. Definitely the thing that I feel the guiltiest about when playing DS.

They don't have one right now.

It's going well enough so far I guess. So far we've covered some basics with job-order costing and process costing. I can't say I'm getting much out of the lectures. I have a little trouble understanding what he's saying, because of his thick accent. It's not so bad if I can get to the class early to stake out a seat up front so that I can hear a little better, but that class fills up quickly. What book are you using?

I slept in till 3:45 today. I probably would have slept longer, but I figured that when I heard my brother get home from school that I should probably get up. Had some leftovers from last night (cold pizza) and then did some homework for my management accounting course before I headed off to class. Ran into a friend that I hadn't seen in about 6 months. Got bored in my economics lecture and skipped out on the last 45 minutes of a three hour lecture. Now I'm home and that's all I've done today.

Customers give publishers money which the publishers use to make games you like. Customers indirectly give you games that you want to play.

I woke up this morning to find that the temperature inside had drooped to 60 degrees upstairs. My room is a good 15 degrees colder. No one bothered to turn the heat on.
