  1. Now Brits were the ones who knew how to be imperialistic, back in their day.
  2. I created a mage, and I couldn't change anything other than race or looks. I was expecting a bit more depth in this department.
  3. No one is saying that Finland is a great military power, only that it's a more prosperous country than the US.
  4. I'm sorry but WoD cannot use statistics in this argument, You see, they lie. In fact, the way he proposed for one to discern the difference in prosperity between the Finns and the Americans is visiting the two countries and seeing for yourself. We can, therefore, assume that WoD has visited Finland, given his certainty on the subject. Finally, with all this in mind I suggest we found the INstitute for ANecdotal Evidence to support this sort of evidence gathering.
  5. So how did you like Finland, Wrath of Dagon?
  6. Yes, they forgot to step on that pesky underclass before publishing that data. They keep getting in the way. wat
  7. The USSR wasn't looking to annex a bit of Finland, they were looking to conquer Finland outright and had an army which dwarfed anything the Finns could field. The Russians were beaten back. Also, I'd like to know what magical definition of prosperity is it that you use in order do define the US as more prosperous than Finland.
  8. 1. He thought the moderators weren't very competent. 2. No. By the way, you even posted in Ender's Goodbye thread, Jags.
  9. metadigital left due to real life. As for Ender, he left because he had issues with the moderating team.
  10. Actually Finland isn't part of the Soviet Union because they defended themselves against the Red Army. Oh, and Finland is a much more prosperous country than the US in about every way imaginable. Admittedly, the US has a much better conventional army, but even that isn't usually very helpful when fighting irregular warfare.
  11. As far as imperialism goes, the problem isn't that the US is imperialist, but rather that they are so bad at it. Really, it's like the US government thinks imperialism is an elaborate way to undermine their own international position.
  12. If playing a mage really was like that it would be awesome. Imagine a DMC type game where you could pull those kinds of moves.
  13. Iraq having WMDs was a an actual lie, Saddam had nothing to do with Al-Qaeda, and Iraq has never attacked the US. Also, the US's most dangerous enemy in the Middle East was and is Iran. The only power in the region capable of opposing Iran was Iraq, except of course, that after the invasion Iraq is now a hotbed for American hatred, with the Iraqi Shi'ites waiting to take control as soon as possible. So, in all likelihood, a few years, instead of there being one major country controlled by extremist, fundamentalist America hating Shi'ites there will be two countries: Iran and Iraq. Hooray for America. So, not only was the Iraq invasion an unprovoked attack, it was also a really, really stupid and badly managed attack.
  14. I had an XFX card for a couple of years and it never gave me a single problem. Anecdotal evidence is fun!
  15. Well, the humor is the one thing I'll give Buffy. Whedon can write some pretty funny dialogue, especially one liners. The drama, though, I really didn't feel it. In any case everything is swamped by "Do I love him?" "Don't I love him?" "But he's a vampire!" "But he is good!" "Now he is evil!" "I love her!" "I hate her!" "I hate him!" "I love him" "I love him but he doesn't love me!" "I like her but I'm a werewolf!" "I like him but he's a werewolf!" "I love her but I'm geek and she got killed!" "We betrayed our lovers with our best friends!" "I'm an evil, soulless vampire who's in love with another evil soulless vampire even if she's crazy!" They spend more time emoing than fighting the supernatural.
  16. After recently watching 3 whole seasons of Buffy, I'm going to venture a guess and say Firefly is Whedon's only really good show. Buffy seems like a sequence of really awful romance plot arcs, glued together with supernatural spit. It just doesn't hold together.
  17. Now, that's an informed opinion.
  18. As I've never tried one, I don't have any recommendations. This is the first to show on through Google. It doesn't say anything about restarting the game, so I'd imagine restarting is not required.
  19. There are mods for weapon repair, but not in the vanilla game.
  20. Since the introduction of accelerated graphics, that video cards have almost always been bottleneck. Only with certain specific games is that not true. Your CPU is fine!
  21. But the part of the game shown in the video didn't seem particularly hard at all.
  22. Was the bit played in that video not indicative of DA's overall difficulty?
  23. Being knocked down in combat results in an injury that reduces your stats or abilities until you're treated. Meaning they just stopped calling "death" what, patently, already wasn't death. It's treating the symptom, but not the disease.
  24. How about a gameplay mechanic where dead is dead outside of reloading, and party NPC death has definite effects on the relationship between the player and the rest of the party? Heck, it will even help create an empathetic bond between the player and the NPCs, thus giving weight to the narrative and its characters through gameplay. After all, if Bioware are the self-proclaimed champions of storytelling in games, they could starting acting like it, instead holding the development of narrative in games back.
