  1. Twilight Singers - A Love Supreme > Stay (Don't Go Away) Coltrane cover into Marvin Gaye cover...... getting psyched for tonight.
  2. I see where you're differentiating LP and LB from the rest of the "nu metal" crowd, because of their rap elements (MC-type frontman, DJ), but I still consider bands like them and hed (PE) to be from the "nu" school. Qualifications: No solos, just heavy riffs Raging hormones Unfocused anger at the world Also, I wouldn't lump Shadows Fall in with the rest of that crowd. I haven't heard The War Within yet, but on previous albums they seemed to have more in common with traditional metal bands.

And here I just thought you were really good at Quake III or something.
  4. The Rolling Stones - Dead Flowers
  5. This thread's blowin' up, yo! Bob Dylan - Changing of the Guard
  6. I have one Mercyful Fate album I bought back when I was a sophomore in high school. "Into the Unknown" it was called. Fairly decent metal, looking back, although back then we mostly just laughed at the King's ridiculous falsetto and song lyrics. One of my favorites: And it is waaaaaaaay past your deadtime! The night has just died!
  7. Sloane - Sugartune Social Distortion - Crown of Thorns Canadian power pop and the SoCal punk progenitors.
  8. Live - Waitress the girl's got a family she needs cash to buy aspirin for her pain and everybody's good enough ... for some change Throwing Copper is one of my favorite 90s albums.
  9. I had a GeForce 4 integrated 64 MB card in my computer when I bought it in 2003. This spring I upgraded to a GeForce 6600 GT. The only game I really needed it for was Bloodlines, but it's made KOTOR and GTA:SA look and play light years better as well. Before that I remember having a 1 MB video card in my family's first computer, a P133 IBM Aptiva, and I have no idea what was in the Dell they bought five years ago.

We like to call him THE teen sex bomb. Mine is BigDaddyKane4Life. Well, not really. But you should still add that guy, he'd probably give you some fun conversations.
  11. I played some Unreal Tournament 2004 the other day, 'cause I had that FPS urge. First time I played it since I got my new graphic card several months ago, and it looked pretty snazzy.
  12. Hey, no harm on the Neil Diamond show, Eldar. That guy is one great songwriter. I grew up on Stones, Tap Root Manuscript and a few other Diamond LPs my mom used to play, and that stuff hasn't aged too badly. And I wouldn't call the Twilight Singers a big concert... they're playing a pretty small club and tickets are 14 bucks. I'm still excited though. Neil Diamond - Solitary Man
  13. Twilight Singers - Teenage Wristband you wanna go for a riiiiiiiiiiiiiide? i got 16 hours to burn, and i'm gonna stay up all niiiiiiiight all niiiiiiiiiiiiight! I'm gonna pick up their new album Wednesday..... AT THEIR SHOW IN CLEVELAND! YESSSSSSSSSSSS!
  14. Anybody see Eagles of Death Metal on Letterman the other night? They did that "I Want You So Hard" song out in the middle of the street. One-upping the infamous Audioslave marquee show, I guess. It was pretty good, although I didn't see Josh Homme from QOTSA, and I thought he was in that band. I mean, isn't that why people know who they are? Black Sabbath - Supernaut

Wow! Looks like I get the chance to post in the first thread ever created at Obsidian's forums. Three cheers for Kirottu! Also, there's only a few folks from that thread that still post here. Interesting.
  16. This is some seriously great news! Maybe it'll be a "platinum hit" by the time I buy a next-gen system. It doesn't really need to be a side-scroller to keep the Golden Axe feel, methinks... It just needs seriously heroic music. I mean like "Conan the Barbarian" heroic music. And the "kill more beasties to build up the magic meter" mana system. I have the old ones emulated on my Xbox, for whenever I want to relive my Genesis days.
  17. Now that's rock and roll. Muchas gracias, Baley. Tomahawk - Birdsong They opened with that when I saw them. They all came out in rice paddy hats and robes, except the guitarist, who wore a suit.
  18. OK, I'm happy now. Seriously, I thought about taking a camera to work to take a picture of this dinosaur. It would elicit quite a few chuckles.
  19. You jerkface! You people and your video links that my work computer (Power Mac 4400, ca. 1995) cannot handle but that I really want to see! God Hates a Coward was the highlight when I saw them live. Does Patton wear the gas mask? Please tell me he wears the gas mask. Anyway, Chris Cornell - Sweet Euphoria
  20. Man I loved my Dreamcast. I played hours and hours of Tony Hawk 1 and 2 on that baby. As well as Soul Calibur, Crazy Taxi, Hydro Thunder and some other games. Funny story: Once my college roommate came home really, really drunk one night and puked all over the room. The dreamcast, phone and most of his computer desk all got soaked, so I was justifably worried for my baby. However, I wasn't going anywhere near that room for two days while he cleaned everything up, so I had to play the waiting game. After some minor trouble at first (and some persistant scrubbing on his part), we once again were able to have Virtua Tennis dorm tournaments in our room. Happy ending!
  21. Finished BG2: Throne of Bhaal with my multi-class elf fighter/thief. He was a fun character, and I gotta say I'm probably going to play another BG2 game. That'll be three in a row, although I only played ToB on the second playthrough. Has anyone played BG1 for the first time after playing BG2? I've heard it would be a big disappointment, but my curiosity might get the best of me.
  22. It was pretty fascinating stuff, I admit. Basically shattered my Western-centric idea of music. Completely different concept of rhythm and melody, plus different song structure than anything I was used to hearing. The Pogues - The Broad Majestic Shannon
  23. Oh, I'd broaden 'em all right. If I wasn't at work.... and I had an internet connection at home. All you kids and your links and your baggy jeans and your.... rock and roll music! Cracker - I Hate My Generation :'(
  24. I can see how Kashmir would work with the rather odd description you gave of that band. Cypress Hill - Tequila Sunrise (not an Eagles cover) That's a pretty cool stringed instrument there, karka. You use one of those large triangular picks with that? I once wrote a 13-page research paper on gagaku, Japanese court music from the 11th and 12th centuries if I remember right. Very odd stuff. But hey, it's all about broadening the ol' horizons, eh? Am I right, fellas?
  25. Joe Jackson Band - Be My Number Two Won
