  1. We're going to see what the root of the cause is. I was able to confirm what cmerick had by loading his save. I can see if we can fix up the saves on our side and send them back to you and patch in a fix to prevent this from happening. amblingon: do you have a save as well?
  2. Can anyone else that is crashing try verifying their local game cache and see if that fixes it? And if not, what language do you expect the game is running in (English, Spanish, etc.)?
  3. We were able to reproduce this on our side shortly after being reported today by artificially lowering the framerate a lot and starting the cutscene. This seems to mainly trigger when framerate is slow. We have a fix in for our next patch coming out soon but in the meantime, try lowering your resolution to the lowest possible setting and turning off anti-aliasing. To turn off Anti-Aliasing press the ` key to open the console and enter "msaa 0" and hit enter. Hopefully that will increase your framerate enough to bypass the issue. This also seems to be the only cutscene effected.
  4. Everyone else crashing after logos, do you have a program called running EVGA Precision X?
  5. sick puppy: You're crash is happening when contacting Steam for achievement data. You likely just need to update Steam to the latest version.
  6. Out of curiosity, where do you all have your game installed? C: drive? Internal additional drive? External drive?
  7. If you want hot keys on specific spells, just hover your mouse over said spell and press which key you want to bind to it. Then, all hotkeyed abilities should show up above your spell tabs when you first click said character.
  8. From what I understand, you will still get all of those items you have pledged for via the backer portal when they are released. And since you are already getting all of that stuff from us, they decided to give you the Steam edition that had as much of your stuff as well. Think of it more like you got a Steam upgrade at no charge, everything else you still get through the portal.
  9. Thanks for letting us know! I've emailed myself a reminder to bring this up for when I get into work. I'll let you know once I hear something. (Off to bed, Zzzz)
  10. This is probably just an oversight and might be a Steam side issue, I can ask some peeps who might have insight on this to see if there is a solution. Won't be able to get you a response until probably 9 hours from now as it's 1:30 AM over here :\
  11. Did you try putting the Royal Edition upgrade in your cart? If I have the Champion Edition + Royal Edition upgrade in my cart, it shows the $15 off. If not, there might be some issue in the upgrade logic. Note: I have no insight on the Steam pricing process, just poking at this directly from the Steam store.
  12. Well the way the game works, the higher your resolution, the more of the game map you can see (the game itself doesn't scale, the UI does though). But because of potential high DPI monitors, we had to allow people to zoom in at least a little closer than pixel perfect just so your characters wouldn't look too small at standard zoom. At least, until we potentially implement a better solution. But as the game is right now, it works great on our 27ish inch 4K monitor we have. The models do look very nice and seeing the maps at pixel perfect look amazing to me.
  13. We frequently tested the game on 4K resolution monitors that are out nowadays. Your resolution should be fine.
  14. Except.. you don't know about it until you press them. And the NPC:s are a bit hard to avoid, they're standing out in the open. To be fair, the NPC interactions should feel more integrated into the game as you are "seeing" into the back story of the character and they were more heavily vetted. Judging by the tone and reaction of recent Kotaku article that brings these NPC stories up, I don't think Kotaku even realized those were actual backer character submitted stories. So backer memorials are the only "tombstone" content? If so, I can indeed refrain from clicking, but if they're also used for lore/quest info, that's not an attractive choice. There is nothing else to find on tombstones besides backer memorial text and backer memorial text only shows up on tombstones. Those will be very obvious that they were basically unedited backer strings.
  15. Well the save game is never deleted until you save over it (scene transition / manual save to quit) or you die. Crashes will do nothing and closing the game will have the system attempt to auto-save the game for you (assuming it is valid to save at the moment you X'ed the game out). Otherwise, your save game should always be there on disk if the power goes out or anything weird like that.
  16. This is known but is only reproducible by cheating by doing "nofog" as you mentioned. Thus, this has been put lower on the priority of things to address. Thanks though!
  17. Quit giving away our secrets! And I happen to think my Aussie accent is pretty good.
  18. Autosaves are a convenience feature so you have something to reload to if you have a party wipe, a bad decision is made, or you just quit without manually saving. We didn't want players to have to load into a prior scene just to transition back into it. Devs don't usually put auto-saves in their games to protect themselves from crashes. I understand that saving prior to the transition does protect you from a load catastrophe but, it was implemented more for convenience rather than as a fail-safe. The autosave does end up taking some time so doing it in both places would pad load times more.
  19. It is intentional that the autosave is after the load. That being said, should be easy enough for you to mod that Autosave() call in GameState to happen in the ChangeLevel function rather than in the FinalizeLevelLoad function if that's what you prefer. Naming save games is something that has been logged in our system. It's something that may be added in a future patch or the expansion.
  20. Assuming the issue is fixed, 4 GBs should be okay. You'll probably dip into using virtual memory here and there (since your OS uses some of that 4GB and the VRAM uses some more) but, the game should stay running.
  21. The only videos in the game are resting movies. We have a few different kinds. The company introductions are all just images now, no movie. The Obsidian one used to be a movie but it was an old one of ours and it was only 720p so, that's probably why it ran a tad better. The resting movies are 1920x1080.
