  1. Argh... all this talk about D2...must resist installing again... I'd agree with Krezack on the energy after thinking about it. I think base will be enough as long as you have enough potions to drink along the way. And i'm not sure about glacial spike synergizing with orb, it was just an example. Have fun playin!
  2. I haven't played in a years as well, the last time being when synergies came into effect. Basically, synergies was Blizzard's way of persuading players to invest in lower level skills, as most people up to that point would save their skill points until they reached level 30, when the most powerful skills became available. So, if you're a cold sorc, not only would you max frozen orb, but also invest points in say, lower level skills like ice bolt and glacial spike to increase the overall damage of frozen orb, since each point in a lower level skill would increase the damage in frozen orb. If you look at the skill tree ingame, you can see which skills synergize with each other. Also, you'll find in higher difficulties, most enemies are immune to one or two types of damage. So if you specialize in just cold magic, you'll be frustrated when you encounter hordes of cold immune monsters. Your attacks will have no effect on them. So you have to branch out to other skill trees like fire and lightning if you want to successfully take out those monsters. Your build will cause a lot of grief in higher difficulties as many enemies in all acts will be cold immune. I would suggest(my suggestions might be outdated by now) Cold/Fire Sorceress 20 in Frozen orb 5-10 in Cold mastery 20 in Meteor 20 in Fire Mastery As much as you can in Fireball since it increases the damage in Meteor One point in everything else like teleport, energy shield, warmth and static field. Max orb first since its pretty easy to use, and will slow enemies down. Also you really won't start encountering cold immune enemies until later levels in nightmare. Start investing in the fire tree after the cold tree. This is a cookie cutter build, but its hard not to build a non-cookie cutter build that won't have you dying or be frustrated in later difficulties. Since you're starting from scratch gameplay will be challenging enough without hand me down items. Skill points are tough. I would only invest enough in strength in wear what you need to, none in dex, around 70-80 in energy(Items will boost mana later on) and everything else in vitality. I can't believe I remember even this much. If only my brain would retain other information like this.
  3. Gears of War for PC. Very fun actually. I should probably finish the main quest for Oblivion one of these days.
  4. http://kr.youtube.com/watch?v=ixv_jRI6VqY&...feature=related This obviously. Perhaps as the background music?
  5. *Rolls for saving throw against reinstalling D2* success! I don't know how D2 is since the last I played was when they first introduced synergies. Don't know how its changed. My last character was a Hammerdin, and from my memory, it wasn't too hard even with lowly find it yourself equipment. I used to play in groups in Hell mode and my Hammerdin was still viable even with pretty sicky gear. I think its a good build to start with, then as you accumulate more and more loot, you can hand them down to more gear based characters.
  6. Hmm, in no particular order. Alpha Protocol: I would love playing an RPG outside the fantasy and sci-fi genre. Aliens RPG: The very concept is pleasing to me. Dragon Age: Spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate? Yes please. NWN2 Zehir: Overland maps and customizable party! Starcraft 2: Must play to find out what happens to Kerrigan, Zeratul, Raynor. Plus its Starcraft! Diablo 3: I will play this if I am still alive and ticking after Starcraft 2. Please let the releases be far far apart. Mass Effect 2: Though I was a little disappointed in the overall game of ME1, I'm curious as to how they'll continue the story. Sith Lords Restoration Project: Can't wait for this one. Fallout 3: If its anything like vanilla Oblivion(it was fun with mods though), I'll probably be disappointed. I really hope Bethesda surprises everyone.
  7. Crap, just when I need to study the most... But still awesome news
  8. Actually there is a giant mudcrab
  9. This is pure awesome. I can't wait to walk off in a completely strange direction and be killed by horrible creatures I have no chance of defeating. The multiple protagonist dialogue system sounds interesting. I always wondered why we couldn't have two protagonists in the same game, both controlled by the player, working together or hindering each other. Of course, this might tricky if both protagonists are in the same party. I love you Obsidian.
  10. Wow, I'm feel so sorry for the little girl. At the same time I'm somewhat fascinated that this is something that can happen...biologically.
  11. I left my pretty promising job today because I couldn't stand looking at spreadsheets and analyzing financial data anymore. I'm gonna take some science courses and apply to med school. Its what I've always wanted to do. Wish me luck.
  12. I feel your pain. Statistics and accounting were my two most abhorred subjects during school. And I LIKE mathematics.
  13. I'm looking for some adequate headphones that have surround sound. I've looked around the net and can't seem to find one that really stands out from the crowd. I want to increase the sound when I play games, but I'm pretty sure my neighbors won't appreciate me bringing in speakers and a subwoofer. Any suggestions or experiences for headphones? Thanks!
  14. You could do that? All I remember is staying away as far as possible and shooting.
  15. I installed service pack one and that seemed to fix the problem. I'm still not sure what the problem was, but I played The Witcher and then Oblivion for an hour each and everything went smoothly. Before that I installed updated drivers for all my hardware that was compatible with Vista 64, ran memtest without any errors, fiddled around with fan speed, tested all my components one by one and checked my monitor settings. I set my monitor so it didn't power down or enter sleep mode. Maybe that was the problem like quake mentioned. Its awesome playing all these games on 1920x1200 resolution with eye candy cranked up and on a pretty big monitor. Everytime I look at my 19in. monitor and wonder how I ever survived. Now to install some cool Oblivion Mods and try that Half-Life Mod Bok linked to. It looked really good. Thanks for the help guys/gals. Much appreciated.
  16. Everything runs smooth when I'm just browsing the internet or performing basic computer functions. I'm posting this from the new computer now actually. I also started up a movie on Media player just now and when I maximized the screen I lost the signal again and had to reboot. Hmm..... Honestly don't know what this might be. Thanks again.
  17. Yup, the monitor jack is screwed in properly. That's the first thing I checked. It only seems to happen when I play graphic intensive games. I'll fiddle around with the fan speed and check temperatures. The power supply came with the case which is this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811119139
  18. Hi Guys So I've built a new computer and fortunately everything is working nicely except for one thing. Here is what I got CPU: e8400 Wolfdale @ 3.00Ghz + Zalman cooler MB: EVGA Nvidia nForce 780i GPU: 2x 8800 GTS 512 (G92), currently in SLI mode RAM: Some affordable DDR2 RAM 8gb total HDD: WD Raptor 150G for the OS HDD2: WD 500G HDDx2 Monitor: Samsung 2693hm - 26in monitor. OS: Vista 64bit version. Everything seems to be working fine and I installed Oblivion and Half Life 2, just to see how things ran. Both games run really smooth at 1920x1200, but a few minutes in, my monitor seems to lose its signal. I have adequate power, 1000W, and all my fans are working properly. I'm not sure if this is a overheating problem or something else. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!
  19. Sorry to hear that. I bought the same Motherboard and just finished putting everything together and everything booted up fine. Hope you get a good working one soon.
  20. Happy Birthday Bok! and that is one cool cake. I probably wouldn't be able to face someone cutting into Optimus Prime and then eating him though.
  21. Playing through Tron 2.0 This game is amazingly fun. I love the artwork present in the game and just throwing the disc around and blocking incoming shots is awesome. I love Monolith. Now make another No One Lives Forever. More Cate Archer plz.
