I did and I found it ripe with historical inaccuracies The author must have taken a lot of LSD.

Sucky news.

Do they really still ask that? It's been a while but I don't think they did specifically. They did ask whether I am a foreign agent.

America is built on traditions that allow us to discuss, debate, and even ridicule our country, people, and especially government. If foreigners want to do the same, I'm secure enough in my belief of Amerikan Exceptionalism to not care. There's plenty of faults but the USA is a very good country. I come from an immigrant and minority family. My parents escaped persecution and had to start over and work from the bottom when they immigrated and finally got decent middle class jobs working for the Post Office. They earned citizenship and strongly encouraged higher postgraduate education in two of their three kids. One is a mid-management public policy bureaucrat in Capitol Hill and the other is a Lt. Col. in the USAF J.A.G. Corp. Me, I'm the lazy asshat who got mediocre grades at a UC and spends too much time reading computer game oriented Internet message boards and also works for Uncle Sam on the side. (Debatable whether I passed my polygraph when they asked if I've ever been a card carrying member of the communist party) So I suppose I'm a little biased.

Uggghh. Rotatable camera control. Feels like a game out if the NWN era. And the font choice seems out of place. That said, it seems promising. Mind blowing that ever since Vault Dweller announced the game, three Dragon Age games have been released.

The way I would phrase it, is he's one of the less terrible ones. You guys and your cynicism...who do you like as a political commentator? Generally speaking, not the media hacks from cable news shows, and especially political commentary shows. Pretty much anything from PBS or NPR is solid though. MacNeil/Lehrer were dry back in the day but they weren't sensationalist. Gwen Ifill and Judy Woodruff follow the same sensibilities. Mark Shields and David Brooks are respected and insightful. The same can be said about All Things Considered on NPR with Robert Siegel, Melissa Block, and Audie Cornish --as well as Marketplace with Kai Ryssdal.

To be fair, the Catholic Church --especially the Benedictine monasteries preserved and advanced knowledge in Western Europe for hundreds of years through the "Dark Ages."

I've been a lifelong democrat and generally like Bill Clinton. Hillary...well, rubs me the wrong way. Like Bill, she's the consummate politician, but lacks all of his silver tongued, country-boy charm and general likeability. Whether it's her stance in issues or her personality, she's become far too polarizing, unfortunate as it is. That said, electing a socialist like Sanders just won't work in today's political climate either. My God...I may have to end up voting a Bush...

The Weird, Random, and Interesting things that Fit Nowhere Else Thread

Hmm... I suppose perusing Playboy just for its articles is now going to be a real thing. http://www.mtv.com/news/2347704/playboy-nixing-nudity-magazines/ Sixty-two years after its debut publication — which featured Marilyn Monroe as its inaugural centerfold — Playboy magazine has decided to make a major change and offer no more nudity in print. Yes, you read that right: Playboy will no longer feature nude women in its pages. Secondly, the Playboy team now believes that the original purpose of the magazine — to revolutionize the picture of sex in America, essentially — has been completely fulfilled. “That battle has been fought and won,” Playboy’s CEO, Scott Flanders, told NYT. -
So what's the early verdict?

That's not the worst thing that can happen from the Democrat perspective. It's not like a Tea Partier can be the next Speaker. Let them have their civil war. This is the crows coming home to roost.

Kevin McCarthy withdraws name for Speakership. http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2015/10/08/kevin-mccarthys-implosion-signals-that-republicans-have-a-revolution-on-their-hands/ The Republican establishment is kaput.

Not all voice actors --let alone for video games-- are card carrying SAG members. May as well go exclusively with the scabs.

So do you think that it wasn't a good movie in its own right? I thought it was excellent.

Careful-- Hurlshot might think you're volunteering! (The two of you are both in NorCal, right?) middle school kids is a tough crowd. *shrug* manifested's crowdfunding would need include lunch at yank sing. HA! Good Fun! 1) Can you imagine Gromnir staying in character while giving a high level lecture on Constitutional Law to middle schoolers? 2) I had a dim sum brunch at Yank Sing not too long ago. Glad I wasn't paying!

Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini suspended for at least ninety days. http://www.espnfc.us/fifa-world-cup/4/blog/post/2653404/blatter-and-platini-provisionally-banned-by-fifa Hopefully it will lead to a more permanent purging.

What's on the idiot box Part 4 (or something)
Leferd replied to LadyCrimson's topic in Way Off-Topic
It has its moments, but the 15 minute pitch piece managed to capture the feel of the muppets much better than the show does. The second and third episodes are better than the first. -
Accurate. http://youtu.be/Jg42kkGvMVQ

The Martian. In my top two for favorite movie of the year and somewhere in my top five Ridley Scott films (along with Kingdom of Heaven, Alien, Blade Runner, and Blackhawk Down).

Really psyched for this one.

I may be in the minority but always thought that Fonzie in the cloth jacket was way cooler.
