  1. After a quick google search, it looks like maybe it won't be so bad to upgrade my MoBo. 500 bucks will get me one with dual xeon compatibility, 4 PCI-E slots, and 16 GB of potential RAM capability... Maybe with my Tax refund I should get one of those and a new GPU.
  2. My computer is still pretty good for being 4 years old. Dual 2.4 GHz, 2 gigs of ram, 160 GB hard drive space. Haven't even thought about an upgrade until I found out NWN2 will require shader model 2. My wimpy little Ti4600 just doesn't cut it, though it could run most games at full specs up until a few months ago.
  3. There is only one thing HD-DVD has over Blu-Ray. Cheaper players. That advantage will be gone once the PS3 is released. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> With a $900 price tag, yeppie. <_< <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Maybe $900 in new zealand dollars. All signs point to $400-$500 At least if they have any desire to compete with Nintendo and Microsoft.
  4. Bought it 4 years ago before PCI-E. It has a PCI-X slot and we were wondering what the hell it was. Then PCI-X came out like a year later, lasted about 2 weeks, then PCI-E came out. I was building a computer to do 3d graphics on. So I needed a motherboard that could take 2 Intel Xeon processors. This was the cheapest one that did what I wanted.
  5. Dual processor motherboards = too expensive to upgrade. My motherboard cost me 1200 bucks. Not likely going to be upgrading that anytime soon. AGP will have to serve me for a little longer.

  8. "The PC gaming market is not what it once was - graphic card manufacturers are full of greedy, squabbling executives. There is no interest in the common good. Now, if one were to choose a new console - a strong console, then this tragedy will not be allowed to continue." <{POST_SNAPBACK}> http://darthno.ytmnd.com/
  9. He holds a dinner party every year to celebrate Chinese New Year and Robbie Burns Day. A couple years ago they had Haggis Wonton Soup. He's become kind of a symbol of Vancouvers multiculturalism.
  10. Our most distinguishing characteristic is that we have no distinguishing characteristic. We're just a mish mash of everyone elses distinguishing characteristics, as evidenced by Vancouver's own Mr. Toddish McWong here:
  11. 1. Yup, we do believe we have the best country in the world, but unlike many americans, we don't try to shove it in people's faces, and those who do, we generally don't like. 2. Yup, while our values tend to be closer to European values than American values, our proximity to the US does cause us to soak up their culture. 3. Yeah, like in the last election I wanted Paul Martin as PM, but wanted to vote NDP. 4. Hockey is our national winter sport, Lacrosse is summer. What gave you the idea that curling was our national sport?
  12. My Country: Canada What I hate about it: How 90% of Alberta wants us to be the US. How a little less than half of Quebec wants to leave despite us giving them pretty much whatever they want whenever they want it. Quebec is part of Canada's national identity, it almost seems selfish of them to want to leave. Thats speaking from an Anglophone point of view though. Also, we have crappy cell phone plans and no access to Cartoon Network, Comedy Central or Sci-Fi network without using illegal satellite. Instead we have crappy canadian equivalents like Teletoon(which has like 3 good shows), The Comedy Network(which shows 3 year old Comedy Central reruns), and Space. Though Space is a pretty cool channel. I also hate how all the CBC original programming sucks. The only good stuff on it is its news coverage, political satire, and Hockey Night in Canada.
  13. All time: Best root beer ever. But I also enjoy various energy drinks such as Monster and Lost. Though Full Throttle, Rockstar, and any of the Sobe ones suck ass.
  14. Hehe, apparently the workmanship from that show is horrible. Half the places are falling apart so much that they aren't even livable within a month. Or so I've heard.
  15. I didn't see much of the new Doctor Who, I found out CBC was airing it like 2 episodes before the season finale so I didn't even bother. Was it any good? The only episode I saw had them back in time and this girl who the doctor brought with him encountered her dad and these lizard things trapped them in a church. I was a little confused.
  16. the only one I really liked was Joe Schmoe.
  17. I really haven't watched much other than the STar Treks, Battlestar Galactica, and Firefly. What little I saw of Babylon 5 was pretty good t hough.
  18. Hrmm, I think I'm looking forward to the CivIV expansion more. And possibly CivCity: Rome but I need to see more info first.
  19. Right now in Vancouver theres major talk of installing video cameras downtown. I personally don't see the big deal. Public places aren't private, so why worry about privacy? They help solve crimes and really don't affect me so I'm all for it. As long as they don't start trying to put cameras in my home.
  20. Thats why they interogated him after finding his passport, to make sure he really was canadian and not an american pretending to be Canadian.
  21. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...ernational/home Hilarious. Well... not hilarious in that he was taken hostage, but that they were like "Oh sorry, Canada is awesome, here, we'll let you go."
  22. They need to release the optimus keyboard with a red and blue color scheme and calle it the Optimus Prime.
  23. I've found that if you don't hurry craploads of colony ships in the first few turns you're screwed.
  24. Hehe, I played a long time today. the way it went was now we have 3 religions, Hinduism being the dominant one with like 2/3 of the civs using it, then you have Isabella and Alexander with Buddhism, then you have Washington, Saladin, Asoka, and Kublai Kahn with Confucianism. Oh, and no one mentioned this was a pangea map. I built like 6 settlers, and stuck them on a couple galleons to go settle surrounding islands... only to find no surrounding islands.
  25. Power seats. I hate power seats. Roommate brought home some really nice Lincoln and someone had the seat way too far back and it took me like 2 minutes to figure out which buttons did which and eventually get it in the right position. A normal seat with the one level would have taken me 2 seconds tops.
