Ok, so I got everything, installed everything, and now windows won't start. Tells me to check for viruses or check my hard drive settings. It started fine before.

So some more details have surfaced in the last while, the 10 new leaders are: Augustus Ceasar(Rome) Stalin(Russia) Churchill(English) Rameses II(Egypt) Hannibal(Carthage, new Civ) Shaka(Zulu, new Civ) Brennus(Celts, new Civ) Ragnar(Vikings, new Civ) Mehmed II(Ottomans, new Civ) Wang Kon(Koreans, new Civ) The new civs have the same unique units they had in Civ 3, except for the Ottomans, who now have the Jannisary. The Warlord unit does the same thing as other great people in that he can research tech, join cities, contribute to golden ages, etc. But his unique ability is to join itself to a unit, giving them combat bonuses. The Vassal State diplomatic option allows you to subjugate civs you beat the hell out of or are significantly weaker than you. Basically its a one sided alliance. They give you tribute, their land counts as yours for domination victory, and they automatically declare war on your enemies(without cancelling the agreement if you start the war) They added unique city graphics for some of the various civs. And it also looks like some of the civs have unique graphics for various units. One screenshot showed 3 different archer graphics. Looks like the great wall is in for new wonders. From the screenshots it looks like it acts like an aqueduct when it shows on the map, only it runs itself along your territorial lines. In the mongol horde scenario the Mongols get a unique unit called the settler camp that lets them build units on the move, so they can roam the land destroying everything in their path without suffering from bad unit production. The only difference in our culture is that the majority of Canadians have more of a left leaning attitude, while the majority of Americans it seems has a more right leaning attitude. Turns out its their 10th anniversary. So thanks to me waiting instead of buying everything right away, I was able to get the 3.2 GHz processor instead of the 2.8 GHz, for 30 bucks less than I was going to buy the 2.8 for. So with all the discounts, it came to the same price as just the motherboard, burner, video card, and processor before. Only I got the RAM, Media card reader, and better processor. Lucky me. This should last me at least 2 years.

So it turns out my 3rd year engineering friend is wrong, and my RAM won't fit. So I have to spend another 200 bucks on RAM. So I was like "Geez, I have to spend 1000 on this upgrade, I should just buy an AGP card and stick the rest in savings" Then I looked at the price of an equivalent AGP card... I was going to pay $230 for a 7600GT PCI-E, for a 7600 AGP its 500 bucks. So screw that.

I don't want to be associated with the foreign policy of the US. Although with Harper in power now, and his backing of the US on their stance on Iran, It may look like Canada will be hated around the world too. I thought it was funny how the guy said that Canada's debt would be reduced by joining the US. Um... we've had a balanced budget for like the last 12 years, and large surpluses that have been going towards paying off the debt... while the US on the otherhand has had their debt increasing by trillions each year. How will that reduce our debt?

It was funny this one time, me and a friend parked in a pay parking lot in Stanley Park. Got like 2 minutes away and were like "Oh crap, we forgot to pay for parking" went back to the car and there was already a ticket. We had been gone for a total of maybe 4-5 minutes.

I guess one good thing comes from all that military spending. I think it supplies something like 4-5 million jobs.

A faster CPU would show faster results than a faster HD. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I saw no difference going from 2.2 ghz to 3.4 ghz, but I saw quite a difference in loading speed from a 7200 rpm HD to a 10,000 rpm one. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yeah, but 300 bucks for a 150 GB hard drive is a bit much. Especially since I'm already spending almost 900 bucks on the other stuff. To get the Video card, which is the main thing I need, I need to upgrade my motherboard, it costs just as much to upgrade to a dual core processor with a good motherboard as it does to get a crappy dual processor board, so I'm going with that instead of the dual processor board. I've needed a DVD burner for a while now, and they're cheap now. Add 100 bucks in tax and I just don't have enough to blow 300 bucks on a hard drive. I'd rather spend 150 and get a 300GB hard drive than 300 to get a 150GB one, even if it is faster. I really don't have any problems with my computer's speed, its that my video card can't handle any of the new games coming out. Everything in Oblivion was just white blocks against a black background. I only bothered with the dual core system because the extra processing core makes rendering 3d images twice as fast.

My mom has an accountant and because my Dad owns his own business it takes until right up near the deadline to get all the stuff in. So I just hand my stuff over to her and her accountant does all of it. So I didn't even sign my taxes until like 2 weeks ago. I have a 520W power supply, and according to my roommate, who is a 3rd year electrical engineering student, my ram is 240 pin(I have ramsinks on them so I couldn't read what they were)

I think I have a 450 watt power supply. I've been running a dual processor system, I'd think that would require at least the same power. Anyway, I pulled out one of my ram sticks to see if it would fit, they will, but now windows won't load. Says my BIOS isn't ADMI certified or something. EDIT: Yay, girlfriend and her chat rooms save the day, computer works again. And it s 520 W power supply.

Well I have a 19" monitor, any bigger and it won't fit in my computer desk(has an enclosed monitor section) and I mainly just use headphones and I'm no audiophile so on board sound serves me plenty well. I need a new video card because the one I have now can't run new games. Only has Shader Model 1. I want to be getting NWN 2, so I need a new video card. I guess I could just get an AGP card, but they're more expensive than PCI cards and I'm going to have to upgrade my motherboard eventually.

And it looks like pretty much any new motherboard takes 240... geez, looks like I'm pretty much buying a brand new computer...
