Too bad I already have all the trades. The thing about old comics is that they have horrible colouring, with all the pinks and bright blue night skies and such, so all new colouring sounds awesome. Anyway, I just got the first trades of Fables, and Ex Machina. I'll likely pick up the rest when I have the money. Especially Fables.

Meh. Makes about as much sense as <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm still laughing.

Still the best Playstation ad.

Well, that sorta happened with Sony for a while. They built the best home electronics for years, built up a name, then started making crap while still charging the most for their products. People still bought them because they were sony, but they weren't nearly the quality of old sony. Once people realized that their new stuff was crap and started shifting to Toshiba and Panasonic, Sony got their act together and their stuff is now good again.

Late Response: Snow. I love the rain. It makes work less busy and the sound helps me sleep at night.

Puuk needs to hang with us.

How did that work out, Oerwinde? Personification is either hit or miss, and worked out pretty well in The Stand. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> His first introduction was sitting in a theatre watching Faces of Death and laughing his ass off going "Hey, there I am, oh, I'm there too!" Then he killed a priest and took over his body and stabbed people with his cross. He was super evil.

My girlfriend had a Mac and loved iTunes, then she got a PC and downloaded iTunes for windows and hates it. So it could possibly be that.

I AM THE WOLFMAN!

Well, I guess its not hard to use one, but its definitely not the easiest. I mean the MP3 player I have now I just drag and drop things from windows explorer. Thats a lot easier than going through iTunes. I'm also not a big fan of the wheel. I'd rather have some buttons. Mainly I just hate iTunes.

Quoted for truth! I'm currently on my second one, which broke just the other day, 'conveniently' the day after my warranty ran out. It still plays music, which is all i use it for, but it freezes every now and again. Hate iPods, yet I can't stand not listening to my music and love the design etc. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The design is the whole reason they're popular. They aren't easy to use, and I'm not a huge fan of the interface, but you can't deny they're stylish.

Once all the episodes are out will they release a packaged version? Because then I'm so there.

I read a book recently called Swan Song. It started out showing brief glimpses into the lives of the main characters, then, nuclear apocalypse. It then showed the initial struggle of these main characters to survive in this new world, with some of the remnants of government or various organizations trying to help the survivors and such, and new organizations rising up. Then it skips ahead a few years to show the results of all that and to eventually reach the climax and the hope for the future. It was a pretty good book. Death was one of the main characters.

I saw Death of a President. I think it was very well done, but unsatisfying. The guy who plays the head of the Chicago police did an amazing job. He actually seems like just some guy doing an interview instead of an actor playing a role. The reason I found it unsatisfying is that it ends, while you're expecting at least another half hour.

Yeah, I was looking at the Zen Vision W. 30 gig, widescreen, plays DivX and XviD, FM tuner, AV output so I can stick videos I download on the thing and watch them on TV, and all for the same price as an iPod video.
-
Yeah, AVI, after some reasearch, I found is just a shell that allows various compression codecs to be applied to the movie file. I guess what I need in a media player is something that can play DivX/XviD. I was looking at the Creative Zens a while back, I wonder if they do it.

Hey, he remade Pirates, then did Civ 4, then remade Railroad Tycoon. I see one of two things for Firaxis next. 1) Remake Alpha Centauri, or 2) Finish that Dinosaur game they were making a few years back. Speaking of Railroads: Its fun and addictive, but once you've played it for 3 or 4 hours, you don't need to play anymore, as you've already done everything you can do.

No. MPEG is the raw uncompressed file. MPEG4 is like AVI, a shell that allows compression. Its one of the formats that makes AVI obsolete.

Common occurance for me: Me: What can I get for you? Customer: *gives sandwich order* Me: Would you like cheese on that? Customer: Yes Me: Would you like it toasted? Customer: Yes Me:*puts meat on sandwich* Would you like cheese on that? *etc.*

Actually I'm not sure that that is true. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, when I'm searching for video files, 9 times out of 10 they're AVIs. Unless they're movie trailers, then they're MOV. I don't even know what format streaming counts as, but they don't count anyway because I can't save them to my hard drive. Edit: Just looked it up and apparently MPEG is the most common, which is odd since I never see MPEGs out there. Edit 2: Aha! AVI is the most commonly shared format. And is apparently obsolete.

Hrmm, just read a review of JL:H, and I think I'll pass.

So I've been wanting one of those 30GB+ iPods for a while now so I can store my Cartoons on it and watch them on the bus to work and such. Well someone at work got one and me being the most computer literate person in the store, she gave it to me to put some videos on. So the first thing I think of to put on is my cartoons. I have the first 4 seasons of the new TMNT, so I figured I could just pop those onto the iPod. Nope, can't just drag and drop. Have to download iTunes. Download iTunes, now my quicktime videos are all screechy and the sound gives out entirely like 20-30 seconds in. Anyway, go into iTunes and try to import my TMNT episodes. SURPRISE! iTunes doesn't recognize .AVI files, the most common video format on the internet! But it does recognize the Global Frequency pilot that I have in MPEG format. So I click on that to send it to the iPod. YAY! DOESN'T WORK. I need to convert it to an iPod proprietary format before I can send it to the iPod! So instead I figure, I have the trailer for Pan's Labyrinth in Quicktime format that I'll just send right over. Nope. Have to convert that too. So I give that a try. The trailer is 2 minutes 33 seconds long... takes 20 minutes to convert. So you spend 300 bucks on an ipod to watch videos on, and it takes you 3 hours just to get a single episode of a TV show on there? Not worth it. I think I'll suggest she take it back tomorrow. Since the main reason she got it was to play videos. If she wants an ipod its better to pay 150 for a Nano instead of 300 for this garbage.

the ones I want to buy right now are: FFXII FF: Origins FF: Chronicles Bully Justice League: Heroes Marvel: Ultimate Alliance Everything else requires a PS3 or 360. Oh, and I already paid for NWN2, hence it not being on the list

Speaking of, the bits with Nathan in action tonight were ...uplifting. Sonic Boom for the win!! Aside from that, I'd use mind reading to get laid more often. Big time. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Reading his wife's mind is going to get him in big trouble when she finds out.
