  2. So do you mind naming a few points how the EU is like the Nazis? I'm trying to understand this view I don't get why you still take Volo seriously. I actually think volo will give a reason he feels is valid ...I think he is being serious? Volo is the Snarf of the Obsidian Forums. Mostly annoying, but you can't picture the place without him. You guys I dont really understand your relationship with volo...I have asked and he said he is not a troll and we often have debates so for me he is sincere?

  5. Would you define Canada as a civilization? Not even as a culture. Plus you guys dont have electricity and running water in all areas ....so it would be inappropriate to even hint Canada is a civilization..... Hey, the natives get funding for their reserves and such, its not our fault the chiefs use 80% of it for their salary.
  6. Would you define Canada as a civilization? I would count us as part of european civilization, as we have the same languages, religions, systems of laws and government, etc.
  7. In my high school civilization class they classified a civilization as an agricultural society with enough development to allow a semi-specialized economy, and that has a system of written language. I think thats a reasonable definition
  8. Deadpool. Very enjoyable. Recommended.
  9. I wouldn't blame Dahrk per se- after all, he can only be as compelling as he is written and Neal McDonough has done a pretty good job with what he's been given. To me the main problem is that the writing is just plain poor, not in its entirety but it feels like different sections of even the same episode were written by different people communicating by carrier pigeon. The result of that is that it just ain't good, everything specific is just detail. The storyline makes little consistent sense (why reassemble Dahrk's totem at all once it was smashed let alone keep it in the least secure place in TV history, just about anything Malcolm Merlyn related), uses deus ex machina (chips that make people walk again, ICBM control wotsit that might as well be magic (plus russian icbms using US military run GPS for guidance and Kaliningrad being in far Siberia), anything related to hacking/ magic/ or how well or poorly people fight, for someone who feeds on death Dahrk seems awfully reticent to kill the good guys exc Laurel and that really was them writing themselves into a corner) and has far too much patented CW Emo Drama. Up until 3 (?) episodes ago we didn't really have a clue what Dahrk's plan was then it was all kind of spewed out in one ep. Having said that, S2 of arrow had quite a OUaT type structure- Slade didn't show up in present time until around the half way point of the season. Thing is though, Flash actually has a lot of those problems too, as did Arrow S2. Speedforce is basically a giant deus ex machina, Barry often acts like an idiot, the whole telling Patty he's the flash or not Drama. But it manages to get away with it by being compelling and charming enough otherwise that you're willing to forgive the problems as being minor, because they are. Arrow though is a sea of niggles at this point with very little either compelling or charming to balance it. Arrow needs Ollie to have a Speed Force moment and bring in his jokey optimistic personality.
  10. "Trust in handle immigration": Clinton 50% - Trump 44% Tehehehe. What exactly do you mean? How? Where to begin? How 'bout with the Mexico wall. I don't care how high you build a wall, people will get over it. The shear expense of building it could bankrupt our society while Trumps buddies collect millions from the contracts to build it. Next, Trump has FAILED at every business he has tried. He is still worth approximately what he inherited from Daddy. Such a record of failure gives me every reason to believe he will destroy the US economy. If you watch his interviews, he appears to me to be a very ignorant, or perhaps insane, man. That's already enough to scare the 'whatever' out of me. I watched an interview with him where the interviewer asked him what he thought about being endorsed by David Duke (Grand Dragon Emeritus of the KKK). Trump kept responding that he didn't know the man and has never done business with him. What difference does that make? If Trump is a closet Ayrian, that could destroy the USA. And having the "football" in his possession scares me to no end. He could, without authorization from anyone, launch a nuclear attack against any country, even Arizona (small chuckle). He would need to get us to def con 5 first, but that doesn't take much. Trump has had 8% of his companies fail, the average for an entrepreneur is 80%. His net worth is 10 billion, and he started with 40 million. He said he would pay for the wall through increased border fees, temp visa fees, tariffs on goods not covered under NAFTA, etc. Not direct payments from mexico. Check out that Untruth about Donald Trump video. Contrasts media attention to his actual policies and statements.
  11. Correlating with a similar decline in quality. I theorize that in this instance correlation does indeed imply causation. Needs better villains. Damien Dahrk hasn't been as compelling over the whole season arc as Deathstroke was or even Raz Al Ghul. Maybe they need to go to half season arcs like Once Upon a Time does.
  12. Ours are just starting to ripen, had one I was going to give one more day to ripen, and came back and it was eaten by slugs.
  13. I think they are all their highest rated shows too. Apparently Riverdale is a murder mystery and Archie is nailing Ms Grundy.
  14. Digging Stellaris. Dev Diary says they were planning colony event chains as the meat of the mid-game, but got bogged down making sure the early game was fun and end game challenges were good, but that we can expect those events to hit in a free update. They are planning I think 2 major free content updates before they get down to business on DLC. Which sounds prettty damned fair to me. Pre-ordered Hearts of Iron IV, so I'll be ditching Stellaris for that in a couple weeks.
  15. I am loving Spotify, none of the radio stations around here play what I like to listen to, so its nice that I can throw on some Gloryhammer or Dethklok, the Star Wars score, or some Tchaikovsky while I'm in the car, depending on my mood.
  16. Hive's true face looked so good I wish they had the budget to keep him like that more often.
  17. I have about 1 and a half Witcher books left. Its an interesting twist that Vampires don't need blood to survive, its just an intoxicant, and vampires who kill by drinking blood are essentially just alcoholics overdoing it.
  18. LIFE MODEL DECOYS
  19. Good luck. We found having the second was especially challenging. You don't get nearly as much 1 on 1 time with the 2nd kid because the first one is always jealous of them getting attention.
  20. Huh, did i miss something? There was some sort of kerfuffle in the commons today. A heated discussion between MPs, and Trudeau came to pull one of his guys out of the discussion and accidentally elbowed a female conservative MP in the chest, who had to run away because she was so violated.
  21. The movie came heavily recommended and I was woefully underwhelmed.
  22. Although, to be fair, you're fairly unlikely to get a tangible return on your investment. I'm not with you, are you saying helping others get a better education is not a good investment? I doubt Sadie means she will get a personal benefit, like someone she indirectly helps get educated is going to give her money But an educated and skilled society is one of the requirements to achieve economic transformation, people with jobs contribute towards the tax base and are critical to the basic spending power of any society So this then benefits everyone..so yes its not tangible but its still an expected positive outcome of a progressive society Education is such a long term investment that the likelyhood of feeling the effects of that investment before you hit retirement age is low. I think thats what he means. It depends on you what define as " positive return on education " So for example ( and I'm simplifying these points ) If you contribute towards getting getting 100 people educated at University and these people get jobs they contribute towards the tax base for government. When government allocates yearly budgets to municipalities it now has more money so your region could get more money that the local municipality needs to manage to improve the area. Suddenly the dirt road you use to go to work on everyday that has existed for the last 60 years get tarred and is immediately improved. This is a benefit you could see 6-8 years after the initial investment in the education of others If you help fund a persons costs to study medicine and become a GP and once they qualified they open a clinic in the rural area you live, where there has never been a clinic, this is a benefit you could see 8-10 after the initial investment But if your definition of " positive return on education " is government raising the minimum wage this could take much longer and is much more complex objective to achieve that is influenced by other factors outside of education The economic return is likely to take quite a while, as due to educational inflation, BA's aren't worth as much as they used to be and a lot of those kids are going to be making little more than an uneducated labourer for quite a while. I make around 35k per year as an unskilled labourer, and most university educated people I know don't make much more than that. There is a lot of room to grow, but it takes years of experience, or more education to make much more. I also know in Canada, you can write off much of your tuition on your tax returns. I wasted 20k on a 3d modelling class, and didn't pay taxes for 6 years afterwards (by wasted I mean I did nothing with my training, rather than a dig at the school). In the US much of their income will go towards paying off student debt for years to come, so that income isn't driving any sort of economic activity. Education is essential and shouldn't be neglected, but its an investment in the future.

  24. More than just one of them... One of my favorite things about my first trip to Europe is that every so often I meet a snotty Canadian that considers himself superior to "those stupid Americans," and for some reason these same dudes often have some fixation with feeling "accepted" by Europe, as if Europe is the Kool Kidz Klub that decides what countries are idiots and which ones are the pinnacle of modern society. I ended up at a party with one of these such Canadians, and the thing is Germans in general seem to have a sort of fascinated approach to Americans. I typically get approached with an attitude of "hey I'm sure you're a great person and as a German I have loads of respect for the USA due to how it's helped steer us away from a bad path in the past, but would you mind explaining why some of the modern problems with the USA persist?" Y'know, a very respectful approach where I'm spoken to as if the Germans are certain there's a good, reasonable explanation for all of the ****-ups in the USA and they'd just like to hear an American put it in perspective. So there I am chatting with a group of Germans and a couple other europeans (off the top of my head, two brits, an italian, a french guy and a spaniard) who all want the scoop, and after I've answered most of the questions, the Canadian chimes in and asks "what do you guys think of Canada?" The answer? "We don't." I kept a pretty good pokerface, if I do say so myself, but inside I was thinking "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA THAT'S RIGHT YOU LITTLE ****, YOU'RE STILL NOT A REAL COUNTRY, ALL YOUR DREAMS ARE DEAD." The only people who give a crap about us in Europe are the Dutch and some of the French. Maybe some Brits because we have the same Queen. I know the Dutch have a decent relationship with Canada because we liberated them and hosted their royal family in WW2.
  25. Definitely looking forward to the border and mid game changes. Right now I'm just hitting "fastest" and watching videos while my tech ticks down. I get the occaisional scripted event chain, which I like, such as the subterranean empire on one of my colonized worlds, and a rogue scientist setting himself up as a god on a primitive world, but its largely waiting if you're not huge into war. Especially with ethics and such being a big part of relations and a 3 embassy limit meaning everyone hates you and you can't get any sort of diplomatic agreements. Hearts of Iron IV up for preorder. I like paradox's pre-order stuff. Usually just cosmetic, and they generally release it to purchase down the road so people who don't pre-order can get it, but people who do get it for free. Current pre-order goodies are music packs for the axis and allies, or if you spring for the deluxe version you get a bunch of unit graphics.
