I've been switching between Dragon Age, New Vegas, and Fable 3, with more focus on New Vegas and Fable 3. Its a shame Obsidian had to use the same engine as FO3. It looked dated in Oblivion. On the Fable side, Peter Molyneux needs to stop buying into his own hype. Its a decent game but not nearly as good as Fable 2, mostly due to overdesigning the interface and the lack of the fantastic score Fable 2 had.

After buying Civ IV I put in probably a good 60 hours in the first few weeks, and in the subsequent years a good couple hundred. I was done with Civ V after maybe 15. I never made it to the modern era as by the time I hit renaissance each turn was: Set construction, hit end turn, wait 5 minutes until AI is done. Diplomacy was crap, UI was crap, taking 25 turns to build my cheapest unit made building armies nigh impossible, and the one unit per tile was more annoying than anything. And when every AI declared war on me in the same turn despite me being like the #4 most powerful civ and being unable to build units quickly in order to defend made that game pretty unenjoyable. All Civ V achieved was making me want to play Civ IV.

The beef I've been having lately with the fallout universe is how it seems like every vault managed to end horribly unless you come from it, and even the stable, populated areas are still wrecked rubble covered messes. You'd think after several generations of living in an area people would have cleaned some of it up by now. Camp McCarran has been the headquarters of the NCR in New Vegas for what, 5 years? And the terminal building and offices and stuff are still covered in broken furniture, litter, etc. You'd think they would have organized a bit. It also had a lack of non-combat personnel. The cook, medic, and two scientists were pretty much the only non-combat personnel in the whole base.

I believe that we don't have the sufficient advancement to understand the creation of the universe, but past evidence shows that sooner or later, we will. Though I likely won't be around for that. Maybe in a couple hundred years if we haven't destroyed each other by then.

http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/wb/suckerpunch/ Zack Snyder's newest. Girls with swords fighting robots, dragons and giant minigun wielding Samurai in WWI. Sounds good to me.

NSFW: The end of Mel Gibson's career (thank non-extant gods)
Oerwinde replied to Humodour's topic in Way Off-Topic
Gibson is a better director than he was an actor. As long as he keeps making movies I enjoy, i will continue seeing them. I don't care about his personal life. -
Legalizing and regulating narcotics and converting it into legitimate business would reduce crime, create jobs, and increase tax revenue. Treat it like tobacco and require narcotic companies to fund rehabilitation programs and drug education as well as using a portion of the tax revenue to do the same.. This would offset the short term increase in drug use caused by legalization. If this was done internationally, latin american economies could benefit from a legitimate narcotic industry. Basically, IMO, the pros outweigh the cons, and with proper education and regulation, you would likely see the same trends that are going on with Tobacco(something like 80% reduction in tobacco use in the last 20 years)

I'm dividing my time right now between Red Dead Redemption, Transformers: War for Cybertron, and Europa Universalis III

Wow, late comer here. He was one of the key personalities of both the old BIS boards and here. I'm having more of a reaction from this than I do from finding out people I know in real life have died.

Israel butchers civilians in international waters

They've been stealing Palestinian land since the 30s. No one is going to do anything about it now. -
Question to Devs: Console or PC version?
Oerwinde replied to Oerwinde's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
This is both the most and least helpful response. I prefer shooters on PC, but if the interface feels like its meant for console then I'd probably rather go for that. -
I'm juggling between Dragon Age: Awakening, Red Dead Redemption, and Smackdown vs Raw 2010. First two are awesome, though RDR is buggy as hell. I didn't play SvR 2009, but the fight mechanics for 2010 are better than 2009, and the character creation results are nicer, but the story mode is weak as hell. I was hoping for an improvement over SvR2008, but they went backwards instead.

He looks like Cap, only without the queer wings on his head or the baffling scale mail. From what I've gathered, if you liked the book, you'll love the movie, if you've never read the book you have about a 50/50 chance of liking it. The marketing was awful, it billed it as a superhero action flick, which it isn't. Its a drama about vigilantes. I loved it, and the director's cut is even better.

Saw Push the other night. Except for some awful editing and random film grain I thought it was a solid watch. I would love to see more flicks in that universe though I know it will never happen. Anyway, some concept art for Thor and Captain America got out. Cap looks fantastic, I need to see Thor in action. Costume looks ok, but Chris Hemsworth isn't selling it for me. If Chicago wins how many times will that be that the team that beats Vancouver wins the cup?

I guess Gnosticism was influenced by Zoroastrianism. But basically the reference to Jacob and the MiB being twins, one good, one evil. Then they go on about Jacob being the Demiurge, the flawed yet good intentioned being of which everything is attributed to. They called it the Gnostic Wet Fart Ending.

My problem is its like 13 degrees outside, and 26 inside. And we moved to a new place that has stupid windows our air conditioner doesn't fit in. So we have 3 fans going and the window open and that lowers the temp by about a degree.
-
CHUD basically dismissed it as a mish mash of Zoroastrian and Gnostic mythology set to a contemporary backdrop. Which seems pretty accurate.

I thought it was fantastic until Jack got to the church. Then it was just a downward spiral of crap. None of the major mysteries are revealed, nothing. It was just stupid. Boo to the creators. I can't believe they planned that garbage ending three years ago and in all the time since couldn't figure out how terrible it was.

Not Related to AP per say; Why does everyone hate DRM?
Oerwinde replied to ltolman's topic in Computer and Console
I like how Paradox does it. No DRM, but in order to get access to tech support or post in certain sections of the official forums you need to register your game's cd key. Or Stardock, where you need to authenticate your game in order to get patches. -
On another note: Slither was a very entertaining sci-fi/horror flick.
-
District 9 was better than about half the movies on the list. I wouldn't even really consider K-Pax sci-fi.

You know, even if Red Dead turns out as good as my wildest expectations it will still share one major blemish that all western games have... it wont have the soundtrack from the Dollars Trilogy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsMivr9zlk0 After having to sit through them repeating the main theme for The Good The Bad and the Ugly over and over and over and over and over through the movie, I'm thankful for that.
