I very much doubt we'll see Prject Eternity physical copies being sold at retail. Will Obsidian distribute it themselves? How about manufacturing costs? Marketing at stores? Would the game sell well at retail? If so, at what price point would one expect the game to sell well? I know there are a lot of people interested in Project Eternity, but I'm not sure if the average gamer would enter a store and then go crazy about it. There's a reason why Obsidian had to go to kickstarter. These games aren't selling like they useed to. Publishers aren't interested, and without the money of a big publisher, the developing studio has to cover those costs I have mentioned.

Yep, that was very sad to read. It doesn't make things better when I think about how I'd feel if it happened to kids here at my workplace.

Seems like the good news are piling up in this thread...

Anti-Trap Mechanics & Player vs Dungeon
Labadal replied to Osvir's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Corrected. A disable device skill could work. Would it get better as the character levels up or as the character disarms more devices? For me personally, I'd like it to be based on how many points you spend in that skill. -
Thoughts on Experience
Labadal replied to Osvir's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I doubt you'll only get experience once you turn in or complete an entire quest. My guess is that you'll get experience for clearing objectives for a quest. For minor quests, like kill a monster or something like that, exp will probably be awarded once the monster is killed. Some quests will most likely have many objectives, like they have had in other Obsidian games. Let's say you're supposed to reach a bandit camp that is located in a jungle that is hard to navigate. Let's say the onjectives looks like this: Quest name: Osvir the Mad. 1. Find clues about Osvir the Mad's camp. You'll have to ask people around town about clues. You find someone, wich grants you some exp. The camp is in a jungle. 2. Find someone who can lead you to the jungle. You ask around and find someone who is willing to help. This grants you some exp. 3. Enter the jungle. You enter and gain experience. 4. Betrayal in the jungle. Your guide was not a guide, he lead you into a trap. Fight for your lives or talk your way out of the situation. You gain exp. 5. Survive the jungle and find the camp entrance. Regular encounters in the jungle give no exp. You finally find one of three entrances to the camp. You gain exp. 6. Meet with Osvir the Mad. Talk, sneak or fight your way to Osvir. Gain exp. 7. Kill Osvir or help him with his problems. Kill Osvir. Gain exp, but turn camp hostile or help Osvir, no exp yet. 8. Help Osvir. Help him, gain info and exp. Quest complete. gain quest completion exp.- 36 replies

Illusion Magic & Mog Dance
Labadal replied to Osvir's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Sure, why not? Let's say you have an instant death spell of some sort, it could be part of the illusion school. The spell makes the enemy see something so horrifying that his heart stops. This could be represented on-screen with something that looks totally messed up, wich even the player might find disturbing. The spell might need to pass a check or fail. Let's say a will check, if the enemy fails it, he will die. The spell wouldn't work against constructs and undead. Sounds a lot like D&D, and it basically is, but just add cool enviromental effects to the spell. -
Anti-Trap Mechanics & Player vs Dungeon
Labadal replied to Osvir's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Have a disable device skill. I've used it on non rouge characters in other games. If they have something like the survival skill, maybe it could help you avoid traps, but not actually deactivate (or salvage) them. -
Hm, I don't suppose there's any point in talking to the HR people about "hostile working environment" then? Because that's certainly what it sounds like... On my list, but frankly, the issue is that I'm on a contract and it's running out. They can **** me over as much as they want because of it by just not continuing it as we'd agreed. Technically, breach of contract, but impossible to prove. I'd just get branded "trouble maker" in addition to "dishonest", not that it really matters. Because it was another temporary contract, no chance of continuation and I wasn't feeling up to learning a new job from scratch. Also the person I'm standing in for has a serious illness in the family and is continuing her leave of absence because of it - they asked me to continue, and I didn't want to feel them hanging or haivng to train somebody new for it for a couple of months... Do I feel foolish now! I know that feel. I've been on contracts for the last two years. Luckily, my employer has chosen to extend them so I've been at the same place , and just last week I got an extension for another year 'till December 31st 2013. Nothing is certain beyond that. I have to work my ass off to feel safe, make myself useful. Working overtime? You bet. Getting **** assignments? You bet. No complaining? You bet (at first), but I tell them what's on my mind now. Don't know what to expect the next day after I've given them my opinions when I disagree on something. I will have to admit that they've been good to me, despite all of that, and I do love my job, so I'm still very, very grateful to them. On the other hand, had I been unlucky, I could have been in your position. That thought is not pleasant, and I know it could still happen to me.

I think this has less to do with guns and more to do with identifying disturbed people at an early stage. I know this can't always be done, but it seems like there needs to be more resources for helping troubled young people early in their life to identify their problems. It also seems to me like bullying is a common thing in the US. I read about it a lot. I won't pretend like we don't have that in Sweden, because oh God, do we have that. But the things I sometimes read, scares the **** out of me. Is the punishement for bullys not enough? Are schools too lenient? I know some schools don't want to touch on the subject and just pretend like it doesn't happen. I know kids who had to move to a new school because they were bullied. Why not send the bully away? It's all about how you handle these things. In the end, if someone loses it, something bad will happen. If that person has a gun, well, we've seen too many times what happens. Pretending that I know what goes on in the mind of a person that does something like this is something I won't do, but I feel that in some cases, that person just goes crazy. And by crazy, I really mean mentally ill. I'm not trying to defend a person that does something like this. Hearing about this makes me sick, hell, I work at a school myself. But, other than banning guns, there has to be more that can be done to prevent stuff like this happening. Well, at least try to stop these things from happening so often.

I hope it all works out, man.

I was expecting Rampage to say those maigc words, but they just had them on his knuckles. I wish we'd get an Airwolf movie.

Watched The A Team. Wasn't a good movie, but it did bring back memories.

Spent most of the night/early morning on the toilet floor. I wish it was drinking related, but it wasn't. Was ill as hell. Still feel crappy as ****. I've eaten a few biscuits in the last 20 hours, and that's about it. Only been drinking a few glasses of water. I'm just happy if I can keep it in, otherwise, I run like a madman to the nearest toilet seat. I know, not what people want to read on a message board, but right now I feel sorry for myself and am probably not thinking straight. I hate winter.

Pre-ordered the South Park game from Green Man Gaming. Had a 35% voucher, wich means it cost me $35.

VGA Trailer tonight

Hope we get no more delays. -
The PSP in-game movies are very bad compared to the original. I hate the Final fantasy touch Squeenix added. It looks terrible (at least they left the music alone). Original had classy 90s anime style. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-JJXbF7cXc They're not as good, I agree. There are also new voices for some characters. I don't mind, because the game is still good.

Almost done with Tales of Graces f, wich means that I can go back to Yakuza 4 and finish that up. I haven't played on the PC for a few days, so no Planescape progress. I've been going back to Valkyrie Profile on PSP. I'm now on chapter 3, clearing out all dungeons. This means clearing out all Caves of Oblivion, wich can be a pain in the ***. I really tempted to get a PlayStation Vita, but my PSP and 3DS backlogs are big as it is. I'll just have to resist the urge to get one right now.

Not a movie, sue me. Finished season 3 of The Wire, then watched the 1st episode of season 4. I have to say that this has become one of my favorite shows.
-
Sounds good, but I'll remain catiously optimistic. My hopes are that this turns out great, and with the right people onboard, it could be.
-
Still playing Planescape: Torment, Tales of Graces f and Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth. All some type of rpg, but at the same time, so very different. I've put my Storm of Zerir playthrough on hold until I'm done with these games.
-
Played some Tales of Graces f. Kiiled a boss, only to be defeated by the next boss (no option to save between fights). I was fuming with anger, because I almost won the second battle. Luckily, I managed to kill her on my second try, so it wasn't that bad because the game lets you retry the second battle. I was going to play Storm of Zehir, but I didn't come farther than character creation. Sat there for an hour, trying out different party combinations.

Not a movie. Not nitpicking if it's trueeeeee.

Watched episodes 1 & 2 (season 3) of The Wire.
