Changing companion alignment.
Labadal replied to Labadal's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
This could be done without a visible influence system too. -
In many role playing games, you get companions. These companions usually have a set personality and world view. You might sway them a little bit, but stray away from the good path and evil characters might leave your party and might even attack you later. The same goes for good characters. Now, I don't mind having characters of this nature, because not everyone should agree with the player, so he is forced to think about his decisions if he wants to keep certain members happy, or the player just does what he wants and accepts the consequences. This is how it works in many games, and I'm not against it, on the other hand, what I do miss are characters that you can interact with and change their alignment. This wouldn't happen quickly, instead it would be something that you'd have to do during the game. Obviously, this shouldn't be a possibility with all characters. Let's say we recruit a character of a good nature. What if one wants to play as an evil or selfish main character? Instead of always questioning your actions, the character might see that the way you handle things are effective and has its own benefits. The companion could have had a troubled past or whatever, and he/she didn't have much. Despite that, that person is still good natured. Now let's say when the character starts questioning your behviour, you can talk with him/her and discuss the matter. Killing NPCs would probably not be a good idea, then it should maybe not be possible for this to happen. But what if you blackmail or intimidate someone? It's not the path of a good guy, but you haven't killed anyone. You have gotten results and the good natured character was there to witness it. If these things happen often enough during the game, in the end he/she might abandon their view on things and accept the way you handle things. Eventually, they'll start acting more like you. I don't know if this will be seen as ego stroking the player, but that's not really how I see it. Would anyone like to see something like this? I want to be able to roam the world with a corrupted party, and not all of the members were always like that. This would obviously also be an option for good characters. And as I said, this might not be something that should apply to all party members.

Went to work despite being sick. That was not a popular decision. Co-workers were making jokes all day, but I know some of them weren't joking, they were genuinely pissed off. #workoholic

You don't have to replay from the start. You start from the middle of the game.

What are you playing now - the plays the thing
Labadal replied to LadyCrimson's topic in Computer and Console
Likely the ending where she gets owned by the demi-lich. I like this ending, Lawful Stupid characters should get what they deserve That was the one. I know there are different endings for characters, but I wanted to do my lawful good run first. I was going to destroy the tomes, but I hoped for a good reward for giving them back. Oh well, the next time I play, I'll be an *** hole. One thing I forgot to mention is that I had more fun with the enemy encounters in this than the OC. -
Been sick today, so I couldn't go to work. Been playing all day long, and I guess that's what I will be doing for most of the day.

Poor Kaelyn. She was my least favourite companion, but that was not how I wanted her end up... -
That matters to people...? You got different missions and money from them. I liked it in Vice City. It also happens to be my favourite GTA game and the only one in the series I completed twice.

NWN2: MotB Learned what Safiya is. Can't say I saw that coming. I kept wondering who the Founder was. I've really been enjoying the expansion. At the start I was asking myself what all the fuss was about, but it was only the start of the game that was like that. Maybe I should have known, because most Obsidian games have a slow start. I really want to have all characters with me at all times, but I'll complete it the way it is supposed to be played for now. I'll look for mods for a future playthrough. There is one thing that I like: You do get loot that gradually improve your character, but it doesn't drop from enemies right and left. What you get is mostly what you need and the crafting is much more user friendly than the OC. I didn't touch crafting in the main game because of how tedious it was. The writing is top notch like we can expect, and I have really come to like the characters, even if Kaelyn can be a real goodie two shoes. Safiya is very well written, but my favourites are Okku and Gann. The music is excellent, and it beats the music in both NWN and NWN2. The overall mood and themes of the game shows that you can still do something different even if you're working on a licensed product. I've asked myself while playing this why it took me this long to play it, but then I remember the launch of NWN2 and how I did not enjoy it, especially the camera was a burden. This time, I enjoyed the original campaign too. After MotB is complete, SoZ will have to wait. I need to go back to Dishonored and I haven't even touched Darksiders II yet. -
I'm interested, but I really hope the controls are better than GTA IV. They were improved in Red Dead Redemption. What worries me is the size of the game world. Will the game be stable and will the game world feel empty? I'm interested in the three main character scenario. I'm not sure if it will be good or bad, but they have three characters with distinct personalities and dfferent lifestyles outside of their crimes. It could all become a mess, but I did enjoy GTA IV, even if it wasn't close to being my favorite game of the generation. I didn't take it seriosly and just had fun with it. (I did take a long break from the game before completing it.)

If you're looking for a good JRPG, then you should try Radiant Historia. It might get a bit repetitive sometimes, but the story makes up for it. The characters are well written, and the main character can actually think for himself.

Didn't see this before. Came in here expecting to shake my head, but I was proven wrong. This looks really good? Are you going to do something with the other characters? -
Hey, I meant no offense, it's just how it is from reading many of your posts.

I have noticed that our tastes differ in many things.

Nicholas Cage, I think Con Air is the only flick I liked that he has a role in.

Cheers to that - it's not every day you get offered a hideout from your mistakes! You're talking about mistakes a lot lately. I think I will have a word with funcroc. Your secrets shall soon be ours.

I don't know how this discussion turned into a semi console/PC war. Mayber I don't understand because I like playing both... I can see why some people don't like to play console games, but I guess if Red Dead Redemption is the only game that looked interesting to you in the last few years, there is no real reason to buy a PS360. I still believe there are some games that would be interesting to PC gamers, but I will not talk more about this matter. Not because I can't discuss this, I simply think that what one likes to play is ones own business. Someone should post gaming news.

You guys are getting too sentimental. We're all dudebro's, man. I no longer have a headache! Didn't do much today. Watched 2 soccer games: Manchester City vs Tottenham and Chelsea vs Liverpool. Played some NWN2, and replaying Stacking. Now watching Dallas vs Philly, Am. football.

It's been mentioned more than once. I'm waiting to see what Thorvalla has to offer. The kickstarter for that will probably go live next week.

Mugen Souls was released on PS3. How is gungnir? I can't seem to find the FFIII on the PSP...that's an absolute buy if I could find it. Didn't even know they put it on the PSP. Sitting on the shelf, unplayed because of a big backlog, but heard it is supposed to be a good srpg.
