Wow I am glad that this incident is over, it was both a worrying and exhilarating 24 hours watching events unfold Just a point on social media, I don't use it at all and this incident has highlighted again why. There is so much miss misinformation around what people know or think they know. I prefer to use credible news channels for updates
-
I agree, I have never ever heard of that before so Drowsy please post some credible links discussing the USA supporting Chechen rebels in there war agaisnt Russia
-
Drowsy I am concerned that your understanding of the conflict in Chechnya, Beslan and the USA involvement is incorrect Can you explain why you think the USA funded the Checknyan extremists in any respect?
-
Wow that trailer is off the hook, it looks amazing and quite terrifying. It reminds me a little of the second season of American Horror Story which is set in that mental asylum

Thats what I am thinking

Today I have started playing Saints Row 3. Very light hearted and overdone but fun nonetheless. I am thinking of also playing Fallout 1, as I never played it before. Do you guys think it makes sense to play 2 games more or less at the same time, or do you think your experience gets diluted this way?

Excellent question, without being ghoulish I will wager he shouldn't be taken alive as he would want to martyr himself Assuming the info 'leaking' out is sound I'd put a fiver on him eventually surrendering if they catch him right. Remember that it's not unknown to have vested (no pun intended) suicide bombers surrender. The reality of what is going on can eventually hit home. From my own experience it can get very scary when you know you could die soon. I just wanted to hang onto everything, as if dying was like sliding off everyday details, like gravel and birdsong, as you might slide off a lilo. Thinking about that it's hard for me not to hope the guy surrenders. I know I said that these guys are worthless ****, but you do get kids barrelled along sometimes, and maybe this is just some little brother with seriously misplaced hero workship issues. Good points raised, lets see how the ending transpires. I still believe he will martyr himself
-
Gee Nonek if you have an issue with large Corporations just say so, but I find your obsequiousness a little unbelievable... I question your sincerity around your support of companies like EA, its something about your post but I can't put my finger on it

Oh Walsie you are funny

Yeah, I was wrong there... Suddenly it seems very likely they were politically motivated. Also, they were originally from Kyrgystan, having later moved to Dagestan in Russia (according to what I just heard). I also said the same thing that I didn't think it had anything to do with Al-Qeada
-
I know this is a joke but I do think it was completely unreasonable and unfair that EA was voted as the worst American company when there are much more worse companies in the USA who have had really questionable and immoral business practices
-
So it seems that the suspects are Muslims from Chechnya, but that doesn't mean we are saying that all Muslims are extremists or if there motives were around political ideology, but we can discuss other facts. Chechnya has had a long and violent history with Russia and we also know that certain extremists and people prepared to commit violent acts of terrorism have come from this country. So we need to watch this space

Okay I won't claim to understand the shortfalls of Steam better than yourself as I do think it offers an excellent gaming distribution system but what do you really want from them in respect to Greenlight. They ask potential buyers to vote on the games and people do vote. Its a democracy in its most simplest form. Also whats to stop people they hire from unfairly considering a Greenlight game as good, isn't our view of a game in almost all cases going to subjective . I would think the Greenlight system, even though flawed, does offer the best way for Steam to allow indie games to be part of there system as gamers have voted for them so it carries some credibility?

Relationship/Romance Thread IV
BruceVC replied to Tigranes's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Of course i will. As i sad before, it all goes down to role play. If i had a normal character MALE (from psychical piont of view) then he will feel atracted to women. As you sad. The second thing is that the normal character will not allways killing ogres or looking for loots in dungeons. He will think about his future. And one of possible futures he have is a settle down, etc. In witcher Gerald somethimes even sad something like "Do you realy think that a mutant like me can settle down and become farmer ?" ... he know that he cant't end thats ok. But if i make my own character .. a want to be able to make more decisions about my future .. I hear you and I agree -
Relationship/Romance Thread IV
BruceVC replied to Tigranes's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Guys as has been discussed I think we all know that there will There was a thread about sexual content in game .. the poeple reaction was "NO !" .. but as i see from this poll 302 people out of 364 want romance ... why ? I think that people have realy narrow-minded in that subject. Becouse the only (non real) type of romances they have discovered are from games like BG or BG .. NWN2 or even latest biowere romances ... I recently started to read a romances and watch some of romance anime (but not those stupid ones) and i jumped to a simple conclusion ... I did not seen any type of sexual behavior (beside kissing or wake up next someone) why ? Mayby becouse the whole idea in romances or "love stories" in not so much for ego like "oh you awsome" (in most anime they do even oppisite) or sex sxenes .. but some king of "Happy life" ending .. For example "The hero who save the villidge, now lives happly with his new wife and his old friends, now he is playing with his son, and somethimes even forgets the horrible experiencec from past etc etc" ... The problem with most characters form role playing side is that the most of them "at least those who have some brain" will not be adventurer whole life .. so besiacly some day most of characters will want to settle ... and live somewhere get old etc ... And i think now that romances or love in games, films etc ... are not so much for ego but for some kind of promise that your character will live happly and you don't waste your efforts ... For example how whoud you feel .. when you win the and ..you wake up ! (you discover that you where deaming whole time) ? how whoud you feel if you kill the arch-evil .. but then whole bulding colapse on you and you and your whole party are dead and you didn't save the "World" ? It's ok if it's optional but not if its the only possibility .. From role playing side .. forceing someone (who made his own character) in romance .. is as bad as .. forceing someone (who made his own character) in not having romance ... By the way ... is there are any news about this subiect ? The reason why the majority of the community want Romance\Sex in the game is because it adds realism and makes your RPG experience more immersive. Think about it for a second, you have this party that is trying to save the world from this ancient evil and you will be facing countless challengers in your journey. You then have this really attractive Viconia lookalike that is a part of your party, do you really think that you are not going to initiate some kind of relationship with them around the campfire through the hundreds of lonely nights spent together? -

You should realize when the FBI releases a video publicly about "people of interest" around such a high profile investigation I can guarantee you that there is an excellent reason, I am confident these are the suspects involved. I did see that they don't seem to be of any Arabic descent so its looks like this bombing is more a right wing plot than Al-Qeada affiliated, which is what many people have suspected due to the relatively amateurish way the whole bombing was implemented

I hear you but how much investment is it really to get a game sanctioned on Greenlight? They basically listen to the votes by the community and then let Steam become the distribution mechanism, or am I missing something around hidden cost?

For me this is a way that Steam is just giving something back to the community and supposed fans of the games on Greenlight, they don't need to do this as some of these games are rubbish. Its almost altruistic but not quite as it does garner attention and marketing for Steam

The ones that got me were when I realized I was older than a lot of pro athletes, as well as when I realized I had lived more years without a brother than with one. Alan do you think you've reached the point in your life where you realize you aren't going to be an astronaut, or is this something you still aspire to? LOL. I was just thinking about this yesterday, talking about the one way Mars trips. Good news is I decided that I kind of enjoy here, and some other bloke can do this one. Don't go to Mars Walsie plzzzzz...you will be missed on earth far too much
