  1. Unfortunately this is not the case and this is just a rumor. It would be illegal to do this, albeit effective. We have a huge problem in South Africa with Rhino poaching and this has become a very important campaign for many people known colloquially as "Save the Rhino". Already over 100 Rhino's have been killed this year. Several poachers have been killed and people arrested but the onslaught continues as there is demand from the East. What is interesting is the demand isn't coming from China anymore but from Vietnam
  2. And once again we are debating a topic that we find pertinent, no one is forcing you to comment or even read so I fail to see why it is sad because the last I checked I am a happy person?
  3. Hi Nep Don't forget those Russian models you met and got the photo taken with
  4. No offense Hurlshot but I hear that excuse from people a lot around exercise, "I don't have time" The reality is that people choose not to exercise because they decide to other things in there spare time. For example you could spend 30 minutes less on the Internet or gaming and go for a run? ( and I'm not suggesting I don't enjoy your comments on the forums so don't take this the wrong way )
  5. Yes Woldan is correct, regular exercise is a good way to keep your blood pressure down. @ Wderanged Do you do any cardio exercise? This would help with your stress levels as well
  6. Yet another Western erotic fantasies about Russia.people missed per year in Russia ~ 70 000, 80-90% founded, ~ 14 000 not found. http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Пропавший_без_вести people missing in US per year ~ 800 000 http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/explainer/2007/01/800000_missing_kids_really.html people missing in UK per year ~ 275 000 http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/the-missing-each-year-275000-britons-disappear-1801010.html Every year in Germany, more than 100,000 children and young people are reported missing. http://www.creativeguerrillamarketing.com/guerrilla-marketing/guerrilla-marketing-good-missing-children-initiative/ Why nobody don't cry about kidnapped German, American or Brit womans forced into prostitution? Russian Wikipedia isn't a reliable source. Correct, everyone knows that Russian Wikipedia is sponsored by Putin to make Russia look better and progressive !!!
  7. So you feel JadedWolf meant: Only in matters of capital punishment, its uncivilized and they feel its wrong to kill people no matter what, but in matters of self preservation its totally ok but they would feel bad? I guess that's as good an explanation as were going to get with statements like that. Yes thats what I think he was saying
  8. Have you bothered to read the thread? This is all just one page back. Once again thats not I think he meant, but he needs to comment if he wants to clear this up
  9. JadedWolf didn't say "killing a person is wrong no matter what". He said this is context of the death penalty and this discussion so I'm not sure why you think anyone is saying "killing a person is wrong, unless there life depends on it" I may be missing something?
  10. You're not even really engaging in a discussion at this point, you're just ridiculing my point of view. Well, you'll excuse me if I don't really feel like wasting my time talking to you, then. Don't you think its more likely that you don't want to face yourself? I mean, Im just some disembodied voice on the interweb trying to understand your point. Just a few posts ago you stated that you believe it is wrong to kill "no matter what". Now we have established that you would in fact kill someone to take their life preserver to save yourself (while feeling terrible about it of course). This can be reasonably extrapolated to; you would kill someone else to save yourself in any situation where your life depended on it. All Im trying to figure out is where your "morals" really kick in. I don't think Jadedwolf said anything like that and you aren't looking at what he said in context, this discussion is about a countries legal system and the death sentence that can be imposed. Anyone with a semblance of intelligence is aware that there are other reasons where you or others would take a life. Examples like war, in self-defense and that irrelevant example to this discussion about the lifeboat. But most people would still feel guilty. But once again we aren't discussing why people would take a life, we are discussing the death penalty and should countries enforce it. I morally object to it but I don't morally object to soldiers who kill people in war, I am not sure why you guys are battling to grasp this view?
  11. I know some people who live there and I've had chats to some of them about there culture They haven't had the economic transformation they hoped for since the fall of Communism. There is some political influence from some groups to align themselves back to Russia but that won't happen. The capital city seems cool. I saw a documentary on it on BBCFood and there all these new amazing restaurants springing up, the people all seem to speak and at least understand English but I would say they are conservative as a nation generally. If you want I can put you in contact with someone I know from another forum who lives there?
  12. So like Russia then. No I say Russia has more hookers and strippers
  13. I think this person is beyond rehabilitation, on the grounds of insanity. He should be put in a mental institution/prison for the mentally insane, for the remainder of his life. Yes thats my view. He isn't "evil" but clearly mentally unbalanced
  14. Yeah, I also like the whole "micro management " @ mickeym Did you play the pen and paper D&D before BG2. If not I can understand the rules being a little confusing.
  15. Killing people is wrong in my mind because it crosses a line that I do not think should be crossed. Like I said, it is a principle thing. On the other hand, locking someone up is fine with me. Even if the criminal himself might prefer death. I see no contradiction. The contradiction comes in the form of hte question WHY? Why do you lock poeple up in jail? waht is hte purpose of jail and judicial system? Vengance? Punishmnet? In that case waht is correct would depend on what you consider a bigger punishment - death or imprisoment. Rehabiliation? People who are serving life won't rehabilitate. Why do you refrain from death penalty? Mercy? Or a matter of principle? If it's mercy, then it again depends on what you consider more mercifull - death or life in prison. If it's a matter of principle then again it's a question of why. Hypotheticly speaking - you see a man butcher children with your own eyes. He is remorsless and thinks nothing of it, in fact he's been doing it for a while and not just children. Looks forward to prison. His guilt is 100% factual. No possibility of error. You are judge and jury - what do you do? The man that kills children and thinks nothing of it would end up the rest of his life in a mental Institution, he would clearly be mentally unbalanced and wouldn't go to normal prison or face the death penalty in any Western country. I refrain from the death penalty from a moral perspective because I don't believe you have a right to take someones life under any legal circumstances. As you mentioned a life behind bars is probably worse than a death sentence so he would face the relevant justice in my eyes
  16. I'm not sure about your point around DA:O doing the combat gameplay better than BG2. Firstly I enjoyed both games and I will say that BG2 took more thinking in complex combat but it wasn't confusing? You pause the game and plan your strategies and you need to be aware of the status of your party. I preferred the combat in BG2 because it was more unforgiving and you did have to consider your characters next move more, for example no auto-resurrection and if you got turned to stone you stayed that way until Stone to Flesh was cast.
  17. Yep. Now it's about 300, and all the hidden significance within movies, and the effects of human psychological tendencies upon storytelling and historical accuracy. I love these forums for many reasons, one of them being our ability to go off topic and still discuss interesting things
  18. I didn't. I forgot I had it, it just shows how neglected my Steam game list is
  19. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, that is awesome news !!! But how do you know this? http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/04/25/skyrim-legendary-edition-outed-by-retailer OMG, that sounds awesome
  20. Yes he did, well spotted. Not to worry then
  21. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, that is awesome news !!! But how do you know this?
  22. I see Skyrim is only $30 on Steam, do you guys think it means that the GOTY edition is coming out now or should I buy it? I wanted to wait for the GOTY so I'm not sure what to do as $30 is a good price?
  23. DA:O spoilers: In DA:O, if you play a male Warden, Morrigan beds you with little effort on your behalf. That is just attraction, desire and sex. And, as the player discovers later, perhaps, it is part of a plan. But to her own surprise, she might fall in love with the Warden. But the story won't end "happily ever after" anyway. There's a romantic arc here, but again, there's no tragedy. There's a woman who has a goal which she for selfish or unselfish reasons puts above her newly discovered feelings. And a Player Character who eventually may or may not travel with her through the Looking Glass into the unknown. It's a great romance, because it ambiguous. Perhaps that is the keyword in how to write a great romance. This is exactly what happened to me In DA:O, Morrigan fell in love with me but she had a more important life objective and she left at the end. I found this Romance story very interesting and realistic as something that could happen under the circumstances of DA:O
  24. Probably, but at the same time it more than once attack the Athenians for being gay, whereas the Spartans are depicted as the prime example on the All American core family. I don't profess to be an expert in Ancient Greece but I thought homosexuality was common and encouraged amongst the Spartans? Didn't the Sacred Band practice sodomy as rule Yes, homosexual relationships were encouraged in Sparta to make soldiers to bound with each other. Sacred Band was made of 150 pairs of male lovers. At least so say experts of Ancient Greece. Now I'm going to derail this otherwise entertaining discussion once more: The Sacred Band were not Spartans. They were Thebans. They were first recorded as an elite unit during the Boeotian War, where Thebes and Athens where allied against Sparta. That is relevant and interesting, but I guess the main point on this particular part of this discussion is that Homosexuality wasn't uncommon in Ancient Greece and was encouraged to a certain degree
