  1. The greatest irony of life is that the more you know about religion and the better your understanding of it and its tenets, the higher the likelihood of you being a non-theist. I have no problem with Bioshock Infinite taking apart religion and its redeeming properties (and let's not forget how it makes your laundry 100% cleaner and gives it a nice oaken smell to boot). People should take responsibility for their actions, instead of using religion as a Waive Responsibility For What You Do 100% Free card. (I enjoyed the bit about "congenital more defects" in the article. Maybe I'm speaking for myself, but I don't need religion to keep my instincts and wickedness in check, lest I start murdering people left and right.) Thats what happened to me, the more I started looking at the logic and insight behind religion the more illogical it became for me. So nowadays I don't prescribe to any religion, I don't knock them and I suppose I am more of a spiritualist?
  2. I agree, I think it was obvious the utter disdain I felt for the Susan Wilson KS but what concerns me is KS getting undermined by this deluge of "sympathy" projects and we start losing people who would normally contribute but now feel KS is becoming nothing but a charity website. I am going to sound harsh but I don't care if its a starving Somalian child or a handicapped Swedish teenager I only want people on KS who have a legitimate project and people should only donate towards there projects if they genuinely believe in the KS. Not because they feel sorry for the person. There are thousands of mediums and charity websites already on the Internet where people can post idea's and get support
  3. http://pjmedia.com/lifestyle/2013/04/18/the-anti-gospel-of-bioshock-infinite/?singlepage=true Anyone feeling guilty about playing this game now?
  4. Also, officially 27 as of saturday. Happy B-day Calax
  5. New Orleans or Mississippi? Yeah I'm also interested
  6. But isn't it good to know you have lived through the greatest age of IT (Information Technology) inventiveness the world has ever seen? We saw the birth things like TCP\IP and the Internet. We are lucky
  7. It's definitely better than: <company name> has stupid idea, <company name> is told idea is stupid, <company name> goes through with it anyway, <company name> keeps insisting stupid idea was great idea. That scenario has happened all too often. Buddhists say there are 3 steps to wrong doing: Step 1: Thinking about it Step 2: Doing it Step 3: Celebrating it The sooner you stop the less damage that is done. I commend CD Projekt RED for stopping at Step 1. Both you guys have summarized my view on this matter. And its an important point. That point is balancing the gaming experience with making more money. Think about it Many people expect MP Current fans don't care that much To implement MP would increase revenue To implement MP would dilute the single game experience Leave MP out despite the possible increased sales We already know this about CD Projekt Red but its always refreshing when you see developers and publishers that honestly consider how to make the best game without always thinking about the Net Profit
  8. Nice update, thanks. It is good too see this MMO is not dead. Yaaaay
  9. Well said For me what distinguished this KS from others was the feedback from Larian Studios, how they actually communicated and then the updates from other fans like LordCrash and Indira on these forums. The sense of commitment and transparency really impressed me and has made me recognize this KS as the best organized I have ever seen. So good on them
  10. Lady, you need to check out Susmans so badly it's not even funny. Good post Walsie Biltong is vastly superior to Jerky, you guys in the USA should try to buy some. You won't be disappointed
  11. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/04/27/the-witch-is-dead-witcher-3-multiplayer-off-the-table/#more-151039 Friends there will be no MP in the Witcher 3, this is good news as now CPR can focus on the better delivery of an immersive single player game
  12. Pet elk ? I doubt they would care all that much. I just find outrage online amusing most of the time. An Elk is like a large deer. I always assumed Canadians kept them as pets?
  13. Ah, there was the indignation I was seeking. Malcador you live in a first world country, I imagine your biggest concern in when your neighbors pet Elk wanders into your garden and starts eating your organic Honey Dews? I am surprised you are so brazen and phlegmatic around the fact you Pirate games and break the law? Imagine what your neighbors would think if they knew...
  14. I chuckled at the last video update where he is explaining day\night cycles and there effect on NPC's " its wouldn't make sense if the Innkeeper is selling you beer at 5 am....wait buying beer at 5 am does make sense "
  15. I definitely agree, WW1 was the single most important event in the 20th century, Europe would never again look like it did before it. I think a lot of people take the changes brought on by WW1 for granted. What's also interesting is that a lot of the reasons behind the alliances (and grievances) in the war were personal and arbitrary rather than thought- out geopolitically. I made an experiment in a session of Darkest Hour where I started as Germany in 1914. Instead of allying with AH, I just let things sort themselves out in the Balkans. "WW1" ended up being a war restricted to the Balkans with AH and Russia as the only major powers. AH lost and was partitioned into Austria, Hungary, and so on. At this time Germany was spending all industrial resources to build yet more industries and all money to gain influence abroad, particularly in the Balkans. The government moved a bit towards democracy to facilitate this. By the beginning of the 30s I moved to invade and annex Austria and a few years later starting to turn as much of the Balkans into puppet states as I could (those who weren't already my allies) before Russia would declare war on me. Since I was politically rather close to France, UK and US none of them ended up joining Russia, which was still ruled over by the Tsar. By 1942 I had more industrial capacity than even the US and was steamrolling Russia. I don't think people really understand how gimped historical Germany was in many ways by 1936. If it was not for the theoretical breakthroughs on armored and mobile warfare, things would have turned out very differently. Interesting post, and fascinating the alternative futures you could create
  16. But can we at least acknowledge that Russian strippers are mostly hot?
  17. But doesn't it concern you that you are in a minority of people who say they don't like or support companies like EA? Most say they don't like EA but they still play there games like DA or ME. Why would you deny yourself the entertainment factor of not playing games from EA? Isn't it a case of "cutting off your nose to spite your face" ?
  18. Your updates about this MMO are interesting. I am considering trying this MMO out?
  19. What on earth are you talking about with 'loyalty' and EA or Bioware ? You shouldn't owe any company that. I don't think you realize the fallacious nature of your comment In life we are loyal to many things. Brands, food, TV series and authors just to name a few. If you having a chat with someone and they say "TV series X is utter nonsense" won't you disagree with them if you like that TV series? Thats loyalty. Why can't we form a similar association with Development companies. You don't owe them anything but you do support them by buying there products?
  20. EA is not collapsing
  21. What loyalty? The Awakening expansion that only ran in millenum compatibility mode (if at all) where the community guy on BSN didn't acknowledge the mess that release was in for weeks, instead asking people to vote for Bioware on some ranking thing? No thanks. Loyalty is a two way thing. But Melk surely your definition of loyalty extends further than one bad product? What about all the thousands of hours you spent playing Bioware games, doesn't that out weight a few mistakes? This is not necessarily directed at you but I just think certain fans of gaming are a fickle bunch
  22. Squeenix, Capcom, Konami, etc. JRPG is a different genre, IMO, but I think Squeenix and DXHR might qualify for what I had in mind. Oh well, EA can go, then. No Nep don't bow to public pressure, you naughty boy !!! EA is a prestigious and respected company for millions and them going under would be a huge blow globally to many aspects of gaming. Oh and you guys that don't like EA and think that they could fold with no residual impact. You are horribly wrong. Remember that Bioware is owned by them, to think you can be so cavalier with the dismissal of Bioware worries me the most. A company that created some of the best RPG's in the world and has millions of committed fans deserves a second chance at least, even if you don't think there last few games were that good. Where is your loyalty? Trust me if EA closed its doors it would a crisis of monumental portions
  23. I want Romance but without the Sex aspect it would be a little pointless. This happened in Planescape where despite courting several party member all I got was a kiss. I found this unrealistic, so I prefer the BG2 implementation of Romance\Sex
  24. The first World War is one of my personal historical hobbies. I actively collect books about this conflict There hasn't been a war since that has lead to such significant changes in the world as that war, we are still feeling the consequences of events today. It always amazes when you read about the sacrifice and futility around some of the strategies around battles like The Somme,Battle of Mons and Gallipoli, but what an interesting in History
  25. Well took one of you lot long enough to mention entitlement, and I really believe that guy you quoted actually existed. In the area of cracking a game you bought whether you just don't like the DRM, too lazy to keep your disc in the drive or have lost it, what exactly is your problem with that ? You're definitely not ripping off the developer or publisher of money. But the best pirating reason I've heard was for it as an extended demo, I guess all the statements in the infos work If you have purchased the game legally then I suppose you don't have to use the actual serial number supplied. I am not sure why anyone wouldn't want to but there may reasons like DRM as you mentioned. I can promise you that person is real, his forum name was Taisenki and he was a member of my old forum, Mortal Online. But he did have a very warped view of the world
