  1. And your point is? Is that statement incorrect or is the electron engine inferior. As usual I have no idea what you are LOL about?
  2. The more I think about it the more I realize that the best combat option of the new Torment is an automated combat system where the game just randomly calculates who wins and you see a "win" or "defeat " within seconds of the battle starting Lets forget this RT with Pause and TB debate. Lets start to vote for automatic combat outcomes !!!! Who is with me !!!!
  3. One of us clearly hasn't understood his situation, and I doubt its me He says "For the last couple of months I've been working as an intern (required school internship) at a game design company. I can't name who or what, but they are fairly big on mobile. I was hired on as a 3D artist & animator, which is what I want to do with my life. However, when our community manager who also does a lot of marketing and client-interaction got hit with health issues, I got tapped to take over that job temporarily (mostly because of my good written language skills). Yesterday, said manager returned, and then promptly quit. Now I got offered that job full time (and industry standard pay) - which would replace exam assignments and still let me get my diploma, while giving me, you know, a full time job - and allow me fill up my portfolio with launching titles for large publishers, and I do mean large. Like, not Activision large but not far off. On the other hand, I don't enjoy doing this community management and stressful client interaction stuff, I'm an introvert and I only have so much energy available for dealing with annoying people, and it is especially not what I want to do with my life. Also, this company has problems (barely ever make deadlines or milestones, titles are abysmally reviewed, employees sometimes go months without pay and then get it all in one go). Beyond that, the exam assignment I've already got lined up to do is making and generally being the creative driving force behind a 3D animated TV Show in a collaboration between my school and a large animation company. This is practically a dream assignment, but it does mean I will still be racking up student debts especially considering we've already figured out this assignment will take longer than my limited scholarship will cover. This assignment is also a daily two hour to and two hour back commute whereas the job is right here in my hometown, five minutes from where I live." He has a job and he is getting paid(I'm not he is getting paid). But he is a junior so probably isn't been paid well, but he is on the technical career path that he has always dreamed about. In IT everyone needs to take a few years to specialize in a software skill and get hands on experience. This is how you become good at your chosen path, there is no other way. He has the potential now to achieve this But no you think he should do some sad community management job ( which sounds absolute crap based on the status of the company) which he has already told us he doesn't enjoy for what ?? How can you compare this to the real chance he has to get his dream job? No my friend, whatever you smoking I want some nowwwwwwwwwww
  4. You guys see conspiracy theories where none exist The OP meant what he said but I think he underestimated the support for turn-based support
  5. You might like these: Okay those are classic
  6. I'll be honest sometimes my Alt-Tab crashes the game, so that's not always an option I could print the manual out, as I mentioned, but its only a few things I needed to reference so that would be a waste
  7. A great-great grandfather of mine fought in the Boer War. Cornwall Light Infantry. Not an officer, though, so the silver spoon probably wouldn't fit. He and his son, however, were the most recent immigrants in my ancestry. (He moved to Ontario in the nineteen-aughts, re-enlisted to train recruits during the Great War, and them moved his family into the States in the '20s. My great-grandfather was born in Canada.) My father's side came out of a mix of Irish and German (or perhaps Danish) Catholics who settled in the coal mining region of Pennsylvania sometime in the middle 1800s. Others ancestors, via my maternal grandmother, have British-sounding surnames and have lived in central NJ for as long as we can trace. So I guess the proper six-word response I'd give is: "New Jersey. **** you for askin'." Wow that's an interesting and prestigious family history
  8. I see what you are saying and I agree. Let me give an example. I just finished IWD and despite the fact I know the AD&D rules I found there were several times I had to reference the manual around what spells to select. What I ended up doing is keeping the manual open on my laptop and playing the game on my gaming rig. But it would have been more convenient to a hard copy of the manual. This is not a reason for me to say "not having a hard copy of the manual detracted from my gaming experience" but it would just made things easier. So I see your point
  9. That's the right perspective, I can only assume Walsie is joking because what he is suggesting makes no sense to me. Without meaning to repeat what I said earlier the best job is a job you love. You'll advance naturally in your chosen career this way. But more important you need a few years of actual work experience in your current field. So your current job will give you this. The money can come later, the work exposure offers you an invaluable experience that money can't buy
  10. I do understand the difference. However, why don't you explain it to me considering it was you who said the IE games were turn based despite the contrary and the definitions on the inXile website. Of course I understand the difference. I can't believe you are even suggesting that I don't know, what an insult to my intelligence !!! Turn based is like....mmm...ermmm...a turn in a game of checkers and RT with Pause is like...a.....a visit to the doctor when someone is before you and you need to wait... Anyway I am really busy at the moment and can't go into more details than that
  11. Humanoid I hold you to such a high intellectual standard that I really wouldn't think that accessing a soft copy of a manual would be an issue? Also you can always print out the manual if you prefer the tactile and usability experience
  12. Definitions are pretty clear to me. They even list the IE games under RTwP. Correct, but I only read the definitions after I made my original post. Hence the usage of the word "EDIT"
  13. It's not about the engine. It's how you play the game. Rhetorical question. What is the default setting of the IE games? Turn-based or RTwP? Answer: RTwP. Hiro I don't think you understand the difference, that's fine we all get confused at times. Let me know if you want me to explain
  14. No, all the classic IE games and Planescape Torment are RTwP. They are not turn-based. So you don't know the difference and thought the previous games were turn-based? And therefore voted turn-based? wow. Hiro if you carry on being cheeky I'll put you over my knee and give you a good spanking...you naughty boy !!! But I did read the InExile definitions and I still voted turn-based...can you forgive me
  15. in my early 20s I used to dedicate at least 5 hours a day to games, that's true. but only because I had a weird work schedule and worked night shifts pretty often, which excluded me from any kind of socializing. if I do end up working a normal 9-to-5 job now, there will hardly be room for games on weekdays for me. maybe in 10 years when I'm 40, with everyone hating my guts, online gaming will become my only way of meeting new people then and only then will I subscribe to a game funny
  16. Sorry to do exactly what you asked us not to do but I did support this game through KS and I needed to vote for what I felt was the correct direction for the game, but I do feel bad as if it wasn't for your post I wouldn't have known about this poll
  17. I agree, I did the same thing and read the official definitions and what they mean for the game. I still voted for Turn-Based Indira its clear "great minds think alike" in our case
  18. I also voted turn-based, stupid question but why wouldn't you want turn-based? Aren't all classic IE games and the original Planescape turn-based and those really worked well ? EDIT: Okay I misunderstood the difference. I see where I was wrong
  19. Not really, how a person identifies themselves is important but you're never going to convince me that the white kid in the gansta getup that calls himself the N-word is black. But yeah, white South African that are born and raised are African even if some would identify more with their white ancestry. Sure I agree about your gangsta example. But its not what I am saying, I didn't mean to say your personal identity within a country can't be debatable but in your example that person is still an American. In South Africa third generation white South Africans get told they are not "South African" but "European"
  20. Oh no I am waiting for Oby to comment on this one My family came from England and settled in Zimbabwe and South Africa in the last 100 years. I was born in South Africa. Personally I think people prescribe too much attention to "where are you from". If a person chooses to immigrate to a country and become a citizen then they are from that country. In South Africa I regularly hear from some Black South Africans that White South Africans "aren't really African" as 300 hundred years ago there ancestors came from Europe and so now they can't claim to be African Anyway its irrelevant to me what people think I am, all that matters is what I think I am. And I am South African
  21. Would you be happy with Taco Bell as a menu item at your school? Or rather lets say it was the standard meal on Friday for the kids
  22. I turned it down. "Community Manager" is also not the same as team management by a long shot - if it was a team management thing, I might have taken it. I may dislike management but it's not a make-or-break issue. But there's only so much I can take from this company in skills and finishing school through the TV Show oppertunity is a much better fit for me right now. And yeah, I'm not particularely fond of everyone there, there's a lot of office politics, unprofessional behaviour and the "employees haven't been paid for a few months" thing is a bit of a clincher. I'm not going to do a job I really don't want to do unless I'm positive I'm going to get paid. You made the right decision, I thought you received some terrible advice from some of our esteemed members In life you really should try to enjoy what you are doing from a work perspective. 80% of people hate there jobs or just do it to pay there bills. Here you were learning a skill that you really were enjoying in a field that is difficult to get opportunities in and you were considering taking a job in a managerial position for something that you didn't enjoy? Helllllooo....can anyone see what is wrong with that logic????? Its also best to work at least a year in your position as you are basically learning. Companies prefer consistency around the length of how long a person stays in a particular company Well done on your decision young Skywalker
  23. I know its junk food but it looks delicious
  24. Hi Drowsy darling Nice to see you posting again. Where have you been? And I see you still actively believe the infamous and flawed " the glass is half empty " philosophy
  25. Guys if you want to see someone getting flamed you need to read some of the comments to his "review". I was going to comment just to show my annoyance at his opinion but after reading some of opinions you almost feel sorry for him...almost
