Eh, I dunno. Most of the war memorials here are effectively maintained by volunteers (some by local councils), with only one being a state memorial so far as I am aware. I don't think that makes any practical difference to how they're thought of, and I'm pretty sure most of the soviet war memorials were directly state funded. Immediately after the war there may have been some attempts to bury issues especially given Stalin, but then again it was only a week or so ago we had a certain British minister complaining about people being taught that the Brit leadership in WW1 was incompetent and that being 'unpatriotic', so it's hardly a disease solely limited to Russians given that British military conduct in WW1 was... uninspired at very best, in the vast majority of cases. I have to challenge your comment around the British sacrifice in WW1 being uninspired. Can you give details? The British played a huge part in the victory over Germany but they also paid a huge price. They nearly had a whole generation of men annihilated and there culture changed forever. If your point is about there war leaders then yes there was debatable incompetence but all the countries involved in WW1 had leaders who made bad decisions at times that lead to the death of thousands of there men So maybe you can explain why the British performed so badly in WW1 as opposed to other countries?
  2. Tonight I'm going for drinks and dinner with someone I've known for ages. She is a really interesting lady, knows how to have fun and has just got out of a relationship. I have pizza, Vodka and Tequila on the menu and we'll see how the night progresses
  3. A dislike of Steam doesn't mean a dislike of digital distribution. Due to where I live I am unable to use a landline for my internet. I'm forced to use wireless internet. Here I pay AUS $50 per 6 gigabytes of internet usage (upload and download combined). Currently 25% of my Steam purchases are unplayable because Steam insists that they be updated before I can play them. Turning off auto update doesn't mean they don't have to be updated, it simply means you decide when the update begins. Steam still requires the update to be completed before the game can be played. Due to the size of some of the updates, it would cost me two or three times the original purchase price to download these updates. That is why I dislike Steam. Not because it's digital distribution, but because of Steam's policies. Other digital distribution platforms aren't as draconian in their update policies as Steam which means I can continue to use the product I payed for for as long as I like, when I like. I heard smoke signals are a good way to communicate in more rural areas, have you considered using that method as a data transport mechanism? Have you heard about all the fires here in Aus at the moment? How many do you think were caused by smoke signal network overload? funny

  5. Nothing too extreme. My wife won an all expenses paid trip from her work so airfare, hotel, food and alcohol were all covered. Night one was the House of Blues in Mandalay Bay, night two was Javier's in Aria, and night three was Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville, which by far was the most fun of the three. Good times and I even managed to get out of there only down $100 in gambling. Also took in a comedy show called Defending the Caveman, which was pretty hilarious. I remember you mentioning it, it sounds like it was a great trip
  6. I share your concern, a trailer would be appreciated
  7. Yes all those platforms and its suppose to be released December 2014
  8. Welcome back, sooooo what stories have you got for us
  9. I played Walking Dead season 1 about 3 months ago and I found it evocative, haunting and thoroughly entertaining. A really good gaming experience
  10. Greetings, welcome to the forum And remember to be very vocal in your support for Romance in PoE when it comes up in various discussions
  11. Yes I do the same, I never skip episodes of a series I'm enjoying. Good call on your side
  12. You right, that's more of an enigma. Unless the teahouse is more modern than what they are saying ? There's actually more than one path up the mountain; the government has closed off some paths because they're dangerous and created safer paths which may not correspond to the original paths the makers of the temple took. There are settlements all up the mountain and a Taoist/Daoist shrine was located at the base, so more than likely they shifted supplies through the settlements in stages. I'd guess - I don't know for sure... That's interesting about the alternative routes, how do you know this if you don't mind me asking ?
  13. Welcome to the forums, I'm confidant you'll have a blast here. Oh and spend time on the Off Topic section, we have interesting debates there
  14. Hi Kebrus You right this is a nasty and scary community that is full of people that like to shout...but I'll be your friend...plzzzzz don't go ...plzzzzz If you decide to not go can you support me in my endeavors to ensure Romance is implemented in PoE....then I'll become your BFF and we can really hang around together
  15. Thing is, teh PE beta isn't actually "here, play the first chapter" (or whatever), but sounds more like it's gonna be "here, play this totally unrelated to the campaign module and break whatever you can". Okay that's interesting, if that's the case it makes more sense to play the Beta. But I'll still wait for the finished product
  16. Er.. you're assuming every blast is ISIS. They clearly aren't. Walsie they mention Al-Qaeda loyalists and those are groups linked directly to ISIS in respect to the violence in Iraq
  17. http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/01/15/us-iraq-violence-idUSBREA0E0F020140115?feedType=RSS&virtualBrandChannel=11563 There were 6 separate bomb blasts in Iraq today. I'm going to try to remember to post everyone time there is a terrorist attack in Iraq, this is to highlight the continued activities of ISIS
  18. I'm one of those people who never plays a beta of any game. Why ruin the excitement of the story and the events in the game by playing a version of the game that will inevitably have bugs....no thanks, not for me. I'll stick to playing PoE once the first official patch is released. I find this way I generally have no real complaints around overall stability of the games I play
  19. "if a tree falls in the woods, and nobody is around to hear it… and it hits a mime, does anyone care?"
  20. Interesting, very similar to Biltong How long is the shelf life after you take it out the dryer? Do you ever get any mold on the Jerky, I have noticed that after 2-3 days I get a faint white powder on my meat and I'm not sure if this is normal I don't think you're supposed to get any bloom. But you're probably better off asking a proper old Boer. Yeah I'm going to chat to a Butcher tomorrow, its not a big deal but its still something I want to confirm
  21. Ouch that is some bad luck, sorry to hear that
  22. Interesting, very similar to Biltong How long is the shelf life after you take it out the dryer? Do you ever get any mold on the Jerky, I have noticed that after 2-3 days I get a faint white powder on my meat and I'm not sure if this is normal
  23. Shady how do you make your Jerky, I want to compare it to the process of making Biltong. What I do is typically take uncooked Silverside beef and cut it strips of about 15 cm Marinade the beef in brown vinegar and spices for about 4 hours. I then put the meat in the meat dryer for about 3-5 days. I check the meat after 3 days for the right texture
  24. Pan fried you mean afterwards to give it some color or how does that work? because I am used to make something that sounds very similar only in tinfoil in the oven and grill it a bit in the end. He means you cook the chop in frying pan as opposed to an oven. Its how we cook smaller pieces of meat. I generally do the same with Steak and chops. You obviously can't cook large pieces of meat like this as the meat won't be cooked all the way through but frying chops does add some nice caramelization
  25. Nice, I wanted this KS to be a success I'm playing Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood at the moment, its loads of fun. I am enjoying the whole Western theme, its a nice change but I realize how much I miss Red Dead Redemption. The only thing I don't like is the gun duels part of the game, its frustrating but I am winning the duels
