  1. Interesting, very similar to Biltong How long is the shelf life after you take it out the dryer? Do you ever get any mold on the Jerky, I have noticed that after 2-3 days I get a faint white powder on my meat and I'm not sure if this is normal I don't think you're supposed to get any bloom. But you're probably better off asking a proper old Boer. Yeah I'm going to chat to a Butcher tomorrow, its not a big deal but its still something I want to confirm
  2. Ouch that is some bad luck, sorry to hear that

  4. Shady how do you make your Jerky, I want to compare it to the process of making Biltong. What I do is typically take uncooked Silverside beef and cut it strips of about 15 cm Marinade the beef in brown vinegar and spices for about 4 hours. I then put the meat in the meat dryer for about 3-5 days. I check the meat after 3 days for the right texture
  5. Pan fried you mean afterwards to give it some color or how does that work? because I am used to make something that sounds very similar only in tinfoil in the oven and grill it a bit in the end. He means you cook the chop in frying pan as opposed to an oven. Its how we cook smaller pieces of meat. I generally do the same with Steak and chops. You obviously can't cook large pieces of meat like this as the meat won't be cooked all the way through but frying chops does add some nice caramelization
  6. Nice, I wanted this KS to be a success I'm playing Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood at the moment, its loads of fun. I am enjoying the whole Western theme, its a nice change but I realize how much I miss Red Dead Redemption. The only thing I don't like is the gun duels part of the game, its frustrating but I am winning the duels
  7. Yeah the time lapse between the books can take ages, I read them all about 3 years ago and then Dance with Dragons when it was released so the story was relatively fresh in my mind
  8. http://survivetheforest.com/about/ Guys take a look at this horror survival game in development that is set in a forest, it looks like its got huge potential Oh and here is a RPS interview http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/01/14/who-are-the-real-monsters-in-the-forest-probably-you/#more-184357
  9. It does look absolutely enthralling, I just wish it was mandatory for everyone to read the books. Then they would understand true entertainment But if everyone read the books they would know why Tyrion is in chains and we couldn't be all waiting for them to find out all excitedly. True but the books offer more insight and mental stimulation than the movies around the characters and there motives. You can still watch the TV series for the visual experience. If by visual experience, you mean all the fine ladies in the show, then yes, I watch it for that reason. Yes the ladies are well worth seeing, especially Daenerys Targaryen
  10. Same as me, I never install anything to the C: drive
  11. Tonight I'm keeping it simple, fish fingers and mash. I loooooove fish fingers, it always reminds me of pre-primary school and our Friday lunch meal Oh and you have to have Tomato sauce (ketchup) with it

Wow that guy had a prestigious military career and that book looks very interesting
  15. Bringing science into it, that's no fun! ... I think I'm just going to blame my cat. He's probably putting hexes on me for not feeding him in a timely manner. Yes, that's it. yeah it must be the cat
  16. I'll gladly send you some but I don't think your customs will let it into the country? I've eaten jerky in the USA and its very tasty but biltong has a more robust taste. I found jerky to be sweeter than biltong, but I suppose I ate jerky in Vegas so it probably doesn't represent jerky in other parts of the states
  17. My biltong came out perfectly, it was a success Now the next step is to start playing with different spicing and marinades. The texture is fine but I want to improve the flavour or look at unusual ways to improve the taste.
  18. Zor its not very nice to call yourself a narcissist. You do realize thats a negative word? You should do what I do, you should only debate when you know you right as that way you aren't being arrogant. You are helping people learn something new
  19. I've just finished Amnesia: Machine for Pigs and I really enjoyed it, a well deserved 70/100. I went into the game with relatively low expectations but was pleasantly surprised. The things I liked were I did get scared in several places The puzzles weren't too hard or frustrating I was captivated by the horror of what happened during the narrative Here's to the next one
  20. Is that how it works with the whole wood thing, I thought the floating was just a sign of a witch and not indicating witches are made of wood ? http://listverse.com/2012/07/27/10-tests-for-guilt-used-at-the-salem-witch-trials/ And if it is good enough for King Arthur... Aaaahhh..okay. Good one, I see now

  22. 1) I'm not dressed as a witch 2) I didn't turn anybody into a newt (and if I did, they wouldn't get better) 3) I'm not made of wood 4) I don't weight the same as a duck But the real question is do you float or sink when thrown into water....that's the most accurate gauge of witchcraft
  23. Witches have moles, how do we know you aren't witch......
  24. You've probably considered this but have you tried smoking some good weed to negate the back pain?
  25. Wow, amazing pictures
