  1. Thats actually a cool concept, a portal between the two game worlds. I approve
  2. Sounds like a case of " a bad workman blames his tools " ... There are controls that cause you to jump away from a building if you are climbing..you probably pushing those by mistake ?
  3. You sure this is propaganda? It looks accurate to me .....
  4. Fair enough, those are valid concerns. I also don't want them to implement MP, I feel it would indeed dilute the UU experience
  5. American Sniper, its an honest and unapologetic perspective of what it means to be a Navy Seal in battle arenas like Iraq I recommend it to all who enjoy insight into the minds of special force soldiers and what they have to do during war
  6. In the ABC Nightline video Anita doesn't look stressed, concerned, tired, or anyway distressed. Frankly she looks happy, glowing even, like a person who just won some money. Yet she claims she has to have guards, because of death threats. That was the wake up call for me. I used to think she was a true believer just incompetent. Now I'm 100% sure she's there for the money and that's it. Also the ABC interview was legitimate. Why should she not be composed, people generally don't break down into tears during these types of events. She is a skilled and experienced public speaker so I would expect her to demonstrate the equanimity she displayed. Thats normal for someone in her position
  7. Nonek that is a very negative view of this KS, I'm glad I believe in the vision of this game and will happily back it My view of the Kickstarter is not negative at all, and nothing that I stated even suggests as much! I just can't realistically see how a modern game can possibly match the original Underworld, the scope of games has shrunk and streamlined too much since the early nineties Take the Labyrinth of Worlds that the second game offers, each rich, varied, reactive and sometimes massive, one can't look at modern games and ever think they'll match such a feat. Never mind the dungeons of Castle British or the Stygian Abyss itself! Edit: I would love to be proven wrong on this, and see a resurgence of this type of quality and content rich games, but I honestly don't think most people want anything so rich and dense, or that it can be made now. I played both Ultima Underworlds but never any Ultima game. The Underworld games were indeed rich in features and Í'm confident many people would be happy with that type of game being resurrected. I do have concerns about the Devs pulling it off though
  8. I'm not sure that would have made any difference. I assume you mean The West when you say " they" ? The civil war would still have happened and Islamic extremists would still have flocked to Syria to fight Assad
  9. Yep, because after they "see what it's like" they can go back and tell their pals all about it. Then they will understand it's barbaric and pointless and stop doing it, right? Does it bother you that human beings brutalize and kill each other, or only when they do it to someone you consider one of the "good guys"? I think Bruce has answered that question before many times. Assaults, torture, murder, theft, destruction, and conquest are all perfectly ok if the UN does it, the UK does it, France does it, or the US does it. It's especially good if it's done in the name of democracy or 'western values'. He generally only has a problem with it when the talking heads from the US, UK, UN, or France say it's not ok. Or if the someones doing these things have a problem with 'western values'. The answer to 2133 question is more nuanced than it appears. Of course it bothers me if human beings brutalize each other, I'm not some kind of sociopath. But as I've mentioned numerous times that during war lines are blurred and we tend to reflect on a country's past deeds more critically. But we mustn't lose focus on who the enemy is, its not what the USA did 10 years ago. Its groups like ISIS that threaten stability of whole regions And I cant remember the last time any Western army actually crucified anyone. So its not like thats going to be implemented but we do need to destroy ISIS
  10. Nonek that is a very negative view of this KS, I'm glad I believe in the vision of this game and will happily back it
  11. Guys we need to be generous with this KS as we obviously want this game funded. Those stretch goals also look great
  12. Does it bother you that ISIS fighters may get crucified? ISIS has crucified many people so let them see what its like?
  13. Yeah I concur with TN, keep us updated around what they find out.
  14. I watched the final episode of season 4 of American Horror Story last night, it was entertaining this season but not as good as previous ones I'm not sure why I didn't enjoy it as much as previous seasons...maybe its the fact that most of actors are the same?
  15. I tend to agree with your decision, work for someone else for a while. Sure you will now have a boss but at least its a consistent and guaranteed income and that will take pressure off you while you plan your next move...if you want to change In South Africa some people think " entrepreneur" is type of job you can learn at school or at university. So you hear people saying " you should just become a entrepreneur " as if its so easy and there is a formulae that just works. I believe its much harder than working for a corporation, while at least in the beginning, and people also forget the pressure on a person when they aren't getting that salary cheque every month from working for a company
  16. Excellent photos, that sounds like exactly the type of place I like to drink at and visit
  17. Volo I must apologize, I made my point in a terrible way and I wasn't very constructive What I wanted to say was its excellent you are committed and interested in the TV series, it is an incredible experience when you enjoy something as superlative as Game of Thrones But you must read the books because they will add so much more to your overall understanding of the story and reveal new things
  18. I dunno, I thought it made sense when I played it. Yes this is very accurate insight into the narrative, I had forgotten my choice and reasons for it until you reminded me. I forgave him because the dark one child needed to see that there are always nuances in decisions and forgiveness is a necessary consideration in our decisions, he must see this as he has been asked to forgive
  19. Why wouldn't you want the TV series to be like the books? If you had read them you would want the series to be like them because they are just so well written and captivating
  20. I'm reading the book at the moment, its very compelling. I recommend it Today I'm having a Braai ( BBQ) at my house, I'm making my famous "BruceVC potato bake ". We are going to have a few laughs and a few drinks of course
  21. Dude seriously that must be one of the funniest but symbolic photos Dude seriously that must be one of the most symbolic and funniest photo's I've ever seen in my life Look at the faces of the kids...hilarious Where is that? Northern Ireland ?
  22. I'm glad there has been some interest in this thread because it allows me to now respond in more detail, firstly we all should care about economic transformation of the African continent. We live in a global world and and we are impacted on different levels by the success or failure of Africa, so the main reasons we should care about the state of Africa include The humanitarian aspect : The fact that millions of people still live and die in abject poverty, that people still suffer from diseases that are cured throughout the world and that there are still many people who just aren't educated due to the the failure of educational institutions in various African countries. All these problems would be vastly reduced if AU was actually doing its job which is basically ensuring good governance and creating a framework for economic transformation. What people may not realize is that the AU has a real charter that countries are suppose to adhere to but many don't. This charter specifically mentions how countries must follow free and fair elections and respect human rights. Mugabe is in direct contravention of the AU charter due to his political decisions over the last decade or so The economic aspect : Africa has huge reserves of untapped mineral resources that could be accessed much more easily if there was a stable environment for investors. Being able to get to these resources would benefit the countries of Africa if the investment was done in a credible way. Also a stable continent would lead to more investment from global hedge funds and people who would buy shares of African listed companies. But at the moment the risk factor keeps many people away The security aspect : We know impoverished countries are breeding ground for Islamic extremists. We already see Boko Haram and Al-Shabaab that exist primarily due to economic factors in their countries. If African countries were doing well economically there would be less support for these types of groups and these groups would be more effectively dealt by the AU. So even if you don't care about the first two reasons around why the stability and growth of the African continent matters you should be concerned about terrorist groups exporting their ideology to other parts of the world So now the AU decides to appoint Mugabe who has no credibility due to his management of his country. I can't stress this point enough, his economic policies have destroyed his country's economy. We have over 1 million Zimbabwean economic migrants living in South Africa alone. What possible value will Mugabe bring to the AU? Zora is right, there are much worse current leaders than Mugabe in Africa . But that just highlight my major criticism of the AU, it fails to enforce its own charter. "If you don't stand for something you'll fall for anything " And Baro is also correct, of course I believe Africa should be following Western values and political systems. This will indubitably lead to the desperately needed economic transformation of the continent. Its always weird to have people on a forum in this day and age battle with the concept that Western ideology offer the best quality of lives to their citizens. I even made a post about this. Western values are not about colonialism and the Iraq invasion, these were obviously wrong. Western values are about free and fair elections, free markets, free press, respecting the rule of law and good governance of governmental institutions. That is exactly what is lacking in the African context in certain cases. So obviously Africa needs to implement these steps as the benefits should be clear and include considerations like a stable economic investment framework So yes Africa needs to follow the West in some ways
  23. http://www.aljazeera.com/news/africa/2015/01/mugabe-appointed-african-union-chairman-150130190208635.html This utterly disappointing and disgraceful decision by the AU needs its own thread as it highlights why Africa doesnt achive it true potential The AU is useless and constantly makes terrible decisions. How can you appoint Mugabe who has effectively destroyed his country's economy and has been implicated in several cases of gross abuse of human rights He should be one of the last people to be even considered to represent the AU on this level
  24. I'm interested to see if you can determine what it might have been? But I like Gromnirs idea, it makes sense
  25. Ouch, now GG is on Law and Order :SVU This will be about harassment and some kind of abuse because that series focuses on those types of crimes. You boys will become even more vilified after that
