  1. GOG is having a massive sale, and I took a look at what's discounted. didn't even realize they had SWAT 3 and XCom Apocalypse, grabbed them instantly. now I can finally throw away my old discs with these games, that wouldn't work properly on Win 7. thanks, GOG ;D
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xl4bkIGgiyc don't know what to make of this. doesn't look like the first game at all
  3. yeah, judging by that CIA agent's monologues and the cutscenes so far the writing is awful. I just skip them all and try to enjoy the game for its gameplay
  4. as luck would have it, the only game I actually wanted to buy (Medal of Honor: Warfighter) wasn't included in this sale well, I did get that Amalur game I've been wanting to play for a long time.
  5. love the ragdoll when Link falls, game looks really fun. too bad I'll never give Nintendo any money. have to wait until someone gifts me a Switch with this game on it.
  6. I actually liked the DLC for the original SoM where you play as Celebrimbor wielding the ring of power. its missions were rather challenging. this trailer makes me think the whole sequel will be similar to that, at least I hope so
  7. another successful landing (by "successful" I mean no one died)
  8. some more, the theme of today's post is "enhanced interrogation techniques"
  9. yeah, I knew combat in AoD was its weakest part, so I opted for a non-combat character for my first playthrough. we'll see how it goes.
  10. tried both Banished and AoD. Banished went right over my head, so many options, I keep getting lost in its UI. needs time to get adjusted to. AoD is a bit confusing as well but for different reasons, spend 10 minutes trying to kill the enemy in the tutorial then decided it wasn't worth it and just started a new game. walked around the starting area not being able to find a single character to speak to, got attacked by a bunch of hoodlums but managed to talk my way out of it. I have to say, AoD looks absolutely terrible, and it detracts from my enjoyment considerably. I'll try to get at least 10 hours in before quitting, but it'll be hard...
  11. nice sale on GOG, finally bought FTL, Age of Decadence and Banished. wonder which one I should try first
  12. not really, they didn't deliver on all their promises *they took money for* - key difference. btw, I'm not a backer, I am not upset because I didn't invest anything into it. I'm just amazed people aren't burning InXile's office right now in anger over this. it's mind blowing.
  13. now it's my turn to roll my eyes. since most people here consider video games a product to be consumed. or maybe I just didn't understand what you meant to say. it looked like you were willing to let it slide, because this is just a video game, so a little bit of fraud is perfectly fine.
  14. I'd say the refund alone almost doesn't cut it. imagine paying for a game in Steam and then finding a completely different game in your library. sure, you can get a refund, but it doesn't change the fact that you didn't get the game you had paid for in the first place. I don't follow Torment's development, but if indeed they back pedaled on some of the promises made during the Kickstarter to get initial funding, that's already an alarming situation. I realize that game development is a long process, and things always can and do go wrong, but once a dev makes a promise, he better sell his house before cutting content that's been promised.
  15. to be honest, I stopped browsing lists on Steam a long time ago, I only ever load Steam's store to see if stuff on my wishlist is on sale. I could see how some people would be annoyed by having too much schlock to go through while looking for something to buy, but with GOG, Humble Bundle, and other online platforms for buying games I don't think anyone really needs Steam or even should use Steam at all (especially since buying from developers directly, even if they give you a Steam key, means Steam doesn't get its usual cut)
  16. that's the whole point, I think. since you need this stuff to publish your game on Steam after passing Greenlight, the logical next step is to remove Greenlight altogether, and instead of making people pay 100 dollars for a chance to be offered a publishing deal make people pay for their game to be published.
  17. nobody's forcing us to buy turds on Steam, though. it's already beyond the point of no return in terms of filtering out bad games. at least this way good games will get on Steam a lot faster.
  18. I'm yet to play RE7, so can't comment on that, but I never thought RE games were particularly scary. I played RE2 first, around the time it came out, and I always considered it an arcade shooter with weird controls. I never played RE4 though, people keep saying it's the best in the series, maybe that would scare me, but I really think the whole series is too cheesy to be really scary. RE3 was too action-y, RE5 was a straight up coop shooter. oh, and I didn't get to play any of the spin-offs or remake(s), can't comment on those. actually, come to think of it, of all the RE titles I got to play, I found Code Veronica (which is the real RE 4 in my opinion, not sure why it never got the number to its title) to be the most atmospheric.
  19. terrible trailer... low quality animations, sub-par character models. ugh...
  20. tell me, does it allow typing in Steam's address bar?
  21. for a moment I thought you were talking about Barkley Shut Up And Jam: Gaiden
  22. why is your Steam white?!
  23. the way I see it, the primary goal is to stop people from buying games cheaper. Steam has very positive experiences with setting up region-specific stores on their platform. namely, Steam managed to become huge in Russia by dropping prices significantly for Russian users (my friends in Russia on average pay only one third of the game's price compared to me). so, naturally, Steam doesn't want people from the US or Germany to be able to spoof their IPs and buy games at Russian prices. therefore, games bought in the Russian Steam store are blocked if you try to launch them while having your IP address originate somewhere other than Russia. since the EU has significant disparity in income across its many member-states, I'm sure Valve separates its prices for different regions, implementing the same kind of blocking.
