  1. Sure, STALKER gives you more freedom than most games out there, but just as you need more than stats for an RPG you also need more than being able to chose a path/way to be one aswell. What you describe is closer to roleplaying than what you get in Oblivion, but it still isn't quite there. It's still you that is the driving force of the player, your shooting/sneaking skills. I'm definetly not disagreeing that STALKER is... basically awesome, I've been playing it close to continously since release with different mods, and probably reinstalled the game twice a year when a new version of a big mod came out. I also enjoy the reactivity, faction choosing and micromanaging of gear, but I can't see it as an RPG, no more than any other action game out there. STALKER has more to it than any other shooter that quickly comes to mind, but the closest it comes to an RPG is with (IIRC) the Misery mod wich lets you chose a character archetype with some actual (nonupgradeable) skills. Or close to a RPG with some really bad dialogue I assume you're glancing at a certain white haired fellow, but you do get to define much of the character; Not as much his history, but his current reactions and ways to approach things. I very much doubt that Andrzej Sapkowski would've had Geralt (B&W spoiler)
  2. Call of Battlefields, Bethsoft made games, pretentious walking sims, 95% of indie games - the ones with "deep stories" to tell. Fifa, NFL and basketball games, Forza, Gran Tourismo, majority of arcadey racing games really. Point and click adventure games, Telltale games, The Sims, The Batman series and any other superhero game. There are more, but I can't remember it at the moment
  3. It's the very opposite to an RPG as I see it, as soon as the player is the main skill-limiter it stops being an RPG. You need a player/character separation via skills for it to be an RPG. That said, FPS RPGS with shooter mechanics are rarely fun to people in general, people I've spoken to hated Alpha Protocols, Mass Effect 1 and Vampire Bloodlines spread mechanics
  4. Played PnP, DnD 5e Storm Kings Thunder. We lost our way too brave rogue to the belly of a Remorhaz.
  5. Yeah, that's not a bad idea. Still, those **** could atleast give me executive control over what I'm allowed to open. I'm not an idjit, well, not a complete idjit, and I can make those calls for myself thankyouverymuch.
  6. This one you mean? Yeah, all four or so hours. Didn't blow my mind, but I enjoyed it. I had watched a similar, but more compressed documentary on Swedish TV a couple of years ago. I thanked you for the link, but in the wrong thread.
  7. ****ing hell, life isn't being kind to you :/ ----- My father is trying to send me a executable file that he made for our tuning purposes, through Outlook/Hotmail and the mother****ers has completely blocked the file, and I can't figure out a way to unblock it. Dickheads.
  8. My biggest complaint is, since it's a gameplay demo, how annoyingly shaky the camera is, that bobbing and weaving got me a bit motion sick just from looking at it. Oh, and they got the flashlights 100% to STALKER standard; Utterly useless beyond arms reach.
  9. While many people on InXile's forums hated it, I did love it and I thought it was quite well done. He also did this song when Bards Tale hit it's kickstarter goal; Both funny and quite to the point
  10. Culturally enrich me! I want to know!
  11. "No officer, I was doing 60"
  12. Problem with that is that you'd probably have more darkside users walking about, since it's easier to fall for that temptation than to maintain the dicipline and selfcontrol not to abuse your powers. See what I mean? :D
  13. Easy to say for us, when we don't have an universal Force that is our black/white watchdog.
  14. Both of these are awesome, I had a quattro formaggio with salami today though, I wasn't at any of my local shops so I went for something safe, but kebab pizza is my mainstay pizza.
  15. If I recall correctly, it was his species.
  16. He's great, not a world class player perhaps, but it's still impressive! I also like the fact that he built the thing himself. Chiptunes generally speaking are great to listen to, but seeing them performed is even better!
  17. Ahh, coaxial network cables - the good stuff. Had those all over our house here from when we used them for our networking, I took down the last of them recently when we redid the roof. --- Spent the day helping my father tune his car, he upgraded his injectors from 800cc's to 1300cc. Simple logic would dictate that you'd only have to increase the fuel map some 60%, but no. That would be too easy, they've got totally different characteristics, so I've had to redo the entire fuel map. Then he wanted to map with E85 aswell, so that was another couple of hours of work - hammering away at the laptop keys while being terrified that the laptop would bluescreen again... We also speculate that the lambda sensor (O2 sensor) might be broken/damaged because the sensor fluctuates wildly in it's readings, so he's got to buy a new one and then we will go for another run to see if we get better readings. For now the car goes quite well, guesstimates would be about 400-430hp at the back wheels. Not bad output for a Volvo B230 (2.3L Inline-4) 8 valve with about 2.5 Bar pressure from the turbo. Last time we mapped the engine I had some trouble focusing on the engine map since I could see everything going on in my peripheral vision, so I decided to limit it today with a cap - this technique proved quite efficient! Adding in; Oh, also, on our way out we saw a throng of Asian people walking about, about a bussload. This was really surprising considering I barely see anyone out here, and then being swamped by tourists? I was shocked, I tell you!
  18. God I hope not. I hope for Powerman 5000 - Bombshell soundtrack.
  19. Bit torn about wether I should put this in the generic music thread over in WoT or here, but here goes; Many of the tracks he plays activates my memories, decades later, but I can't remember anything from the vast majority of the last few modern games I played. Edit; Wrong video
  20. Playing a game with them ._.
  21. I didn't scroll down to your text the first time, and sat there scratching my head with an "What's funny about Bethesda quality shadows?" XD
  22. Best of luck
  23. Not safe for work language, but it's brilliant!
  24. I'll be honest, I can only stand the first thirty seconds or so before the sining starts. Love the music, don't like their vocals. I know what you mean, I'm mostly into power metal myself, but I love me some hair metal at times! Judas Priest, Helloween, Accept, Rammstein, Blind Guardian, Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius, Edguy, Eluveitie and many others. Don't have many coworkers that listen to metal, but then again the vast majority of them are muslim immigrants so I suspect they haven't had the exposure. It's good fun to see their faces when they listen to something like Nightwish the first time, haha!
  25. A HIPPIE IN DISGUISE!
