Don't really know then. Never really had performance problems, aside from random stuttering during the beginning of the chopper scene in Saudi Arabia.

Please make this game MODDABLE
WorstUsernameEver replied to Humodour's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
I remember reading a developer saying they were doing this with Onyx (before it was announced) but that may have been my imagination. Seems logical though, considering they now have the engine, working on DS old tech wouldn't really cut it, and there's no really need to license tech that they're not expert at using. Also, Josh Sawyer and co. occasionally remarked with things like 'probably modders will make the game even harder', 'mods will work the same way', so.. well.. if they're not releasing a new GECK version and are really just toying with us, they're cruel. -

Mmmh.. considering they're showing it on E3 I have to guess it's already at a good point? Anyway, it will be interesting. -

Yet they're doing it again with New Vegas (yeah, it's not officially confirmed, but they've outright said more than once that the game will be moddable.. so.. yeah), so who knows? I certainly hope that the game is moddable, assuming they've the resources to pull a good toolset without dropping the ball in other areas of the game (the game is multiplayer too after all, and, according to the PR announcement, has C&C ... not an easy task if you ask me ). -

Because those pieces of concept art were tagged as screenshots by Square Enix. Obviously Squenix PR's mistake. Still.. not recognizing the difference between concept arts and screenshots.. Anyway, Squenix's mistake. -

Dunno, but I'd love to play a game with "painted" graphics. Even then, it wouldn't look THAT good. -

It's worth noting that Obsidian's RPGs have mostly been raw potential, and that each one has had its share of issues. Between Bethesda and Square Enix though, they may finally have the publishing support they need to develop a bonefied hit or two. Now it's up to them to make it happen. Pretty much what I think too. Don't disappoint us, Obsdiz! Make me eat my words when it comes to management! ... by the way, why is everyone and their sister and dog calling those concept arts screenshots? -
4 repair kits. So this time will have repair kits if we don't have spare doubles? Sounds good to me. I never found myself asking for a binocular in Fallout 3, but that's still a nice addition too, assuming it will be available normally (just not at the beginning).

Isn't it like the 3rd time you say something like this? -
Lowering resolution almost always helps with FPS, that's just common sense, not some strange Alpha Protocol glitch. Anyway, never had problems with Alpha Protocol running on my resolution (1440x900, obviously), so I'm not really sure if that's the problem. At least, it doesn't give problems to everyone. That's about all I can do to help now though =/

By how the guy made it sound, it was either that or an even worse DRM. Also, consider that before we had Games for Windows LIVE I still would have liked more a less intrusive alternative though.

We need a sequel!

Remove no; make it more slower in large convos yes. That's what make the game interesting and different from others C&C games. ------------- i'd vote for make the char jump. Mind you, I was talking just about the really trivial and relaxed dialogue (like some in the graybox), the timer itself should remain, since it makes the decision making feel tense, and I like that tension. -

I don't know how substantial that is, it's, after all, just a guess. But considering that Troika tanked because they weren't able to negotiate a deal with a publisher, keeping all doors open seems a good move from my point of view (and probably Feargus' too). -
Nope. You just have to activate the game, then you can play in offline mode, just with almost every Steam game (except for the multiplayer ones of course).

I see it this way : GPG was searching for someone to do a sequel while they do another project. Squenix was already decided as a publisher. Obsidian saw the possibility of having a strong franchise (but with a decent amount of freedom), and at the same time open some doors at Square Enix (who showed interest in the western rpg market), so they went for it. Also, an original IP may or may not find a publisher that gives it a decent budget, as far as I understand (very little actually). I said again and again and again that, if Obsidian doesn't change the game formula, here we have a recipe for disaster, so don't take it for me being super positive for the game, but I can understand Obsidian's point of view. Now, if they had a stronger track record (meaning a better reputation when it comes to management) and were in a better financial position, they'd have probably gone with a totally original IP, or at least, so I guess. -
I already use Steam, so it doesn't bother me, but I can understand why some people don't like it. Then again, maybe you can simply avoid using Steam if you don't want achievements? I guess that will need clarification. EDIT : And clarification indeed was given, though some will be pissed off. Jason Bergman : Fallout: New Vegas uses Steamworks for achievements and other features (such as friends lists, cloud storage of user preferences and so on). Use of Steam will be mandatory at retail. So what does that mean? We’ve implemented Steamworks in as light and unobtrusive a way as possible. Yes, you will have to install Steam when you install Fallout: New Vegas if you don’t already have it. And yes, you will have to be online at the time of that initial install. However you can install the game on as many systems as you want (with no restrictions!), and you do not have to be online to play the game after your initial activation. Not only that, but once the game has activated on Steam, you can throw out the game DVD entirely and just download the game over Steam. If you don’t even have a DVD drive, you can just take the CD-Key from the box, enter it into Steam, and download it without ever using the disc at all. For those concerned, this will have no affect on mod development whatsoever. Modders will still be able to create and distribute their plugins the same way they have in the past. We made the decision to use Steam after looking at all the various options out there and decided that it provided the best, least intrusive experience for PC gamers. We think you’ll agree.

The timer works VERY WELL when you're taking critical decisions.. I felt pressured a lot of times, during conversations, and I felt that was good for the feel of the game. But sometimes the duration felt pretty small, especially when you're having a relaxed conversation (my first conversation with Parker). Also, they could expand on it, by not always having the 'play last stance' and actually picking Michael by surprise if he doesn't make a choice. e.g. Michael must decide if executing a boss or not. If you don't choose one of the two stances in time (kill or don't kill) the boss takes advantage from your indecision and steals your gun or.. something like that, yeah. Then again, I'm pretty sure a lot of people would hate situations like this. -

Some suggestion for a sequel, gathered from first impressions: - remove the timer for the more trivial dialogue.. sometimes it felt incredibly short for no reason (first conversation with Mina, on the PDA); - make the structure of the game feel less arcade-y.. I don't think the structure is bad, but sometime the transition can be a bit jarring, especially considering your usual rpgs.. that's part of why I think people took this game for a third person shooter/stealth; - you could possibly try to rework how damage and accuracy work.. if you tie weapon skills to reloading time, recoil etc. without affecting accuracy (still keep the 'super powers' they may not be realistic, but they are fun ) it could probably end up to a ultimately more elegant and less misleading system, while keeping the same effects to the gameplay (a stealthy character could also benefit from not having to put points in guns); - make all bosses optional and make their battles feel more realistic.. ok, I technically never encountered a boss, but I already know what some people's gripes with them are; - visual presentation.. that's a given, for a sequel, I know, but for a game that bills itself as a cinematic experience is important.. I don't particularly care for the subpar visuals and animation but most do. That's about all I have to say. For all the negativity I may had, I'm very much hoping Obsidian gets to do a sequel, because the game has been fun until now (even if I suck at stealth). -
Perks every two level? And we can set the value in the GECK? ****. YEAH. (I know the first word will be censored but you still know it). Also, the combat system sounds like has been made really deep and involving this time.. definitely some welcome changes there. Also, nice to see that we'll see some animations overhaul, especially concerning super mutants, and that the nightkin were placeholders too. Also.. one humanoid and non-humanoid companion? Hum, I guess that will give us less issues when controlling them, but I was hoping it was tied to charisma like in FO2. Whatever, good news is good!

Isn't it irrelevant to you? You didn't buy the game if I'm not mistaken. I did actually, playing it right now and enjoying it. -
You're surprised about that? After all, we've only been telling you all along . Yes and no. I knew what wouldn't bother me (subpar visual presentation, unrealistic combat mechanics) but also what would bother me (bugs, minigames, subpar writing, ****ty port). Fortunately, for now, both the minigames, the writing and the interface, while they could use work, have satisfied me. Well, actually the writing, is mostly preference.. I'm not a super fan of modern spy movies, and Thorton's own brand of humor is a bit.. juvenile. But the dialogues feel fluid, snappy and the voice acting so far is remarkable. Even Thorton's voice acting, for all the stances he had to voice, feels mostly pretty consistent.

Patch Wishlist

Trying to stealth though some levels without being detected or even hitting anyone reminded me of the puzzle-ness of Commandos, the first one. Except that its harder in AP because you don't have a whole view of your environment. He was talking about the character development I think. Yup! -
Ok, finally got the damn game. I'll be brief : almost all the flaws cited are there (for now no bugs though, except a wonky death animation) but are not as bad as I imagined when I played. The dialogue system takes some time to get used to, but feels really natural.... as I suspected, though, the idea of giving brief summary instead of at least the beginning of the line is stupid, so I ended up screwing up a couple of dialogues. Writing isn't brilliant, but gets the job done and is sometimes funny. I'm playing Mike as a somewhat manipulative professional so he doesn't really strike me as the super jerkass some people make him to be. Ah, also, I'm finding the game damn hard, but that's because I super suck at stealth. As for the enemy AI, no bugs for now. Ah, also, no mouse stuttering. Yeah!

Concise and precise. I'll have to see how food/stimpaks are balanced in the game, but I guess I'll end up taking survival instead of medicine.

Yup, a clarification would be appreciated.
