Interesting, but I'll have to see how companions are developed and how much resources they've put into the story branching.
I'm not expecting something as massive as Alpha Protocol, but MotB-like branching would be fine to me.
As for the companions, I hope they don't end up underdeveloped since this time Obsidian has to design the game taking into account that it may be played in co-op.
Actually, that could turn out good though, I never liked mandatory companions.
It would.. kill the appeal for me actually.
The thrill of Alpha Protocol is that it's an interactive spy movie.
Take out the interactive part and it's just a generic spy movie like a lot out there.
Well done, but ultimately unremarkable.
That's just IMHO of course.
There will be an elven paladin that shoot arrows at the speed of light while Turn Up the Radio The Final Countdown is playing in the background.
Rumors also hint at a 65 years old veteran dwarf that lives in a villa.
I guess it really depends on what you consider 'PS:T successor', I don't doubt it will be story-heavy (all Obsidian games except Storm of Zehir have been), I just doubt that the story and dialogues will be the focus as much as they were in PS:T which is what I'd consider fundamental for calling a game 'PS:T successor'.
Now, if MotB is for you a PS:T successor (it was in story, no doubt, but it was also a fundamentally different experience for me) then yeah, it could very well be.
Boring trailer is boring.
As always with FPS hybrids only the FPS part is highlighted and without anything to really make it look different from any other FPS.
Will probably read the preview later.
Really doubt it. This has all the press attention of an AAA project, it's an established franchise, with an already established fanbase, it's being developed with co-op and action in mind.... doesn't really look like PS:T, not even being broad with the definition of 'spiritual successor'.
Me, I am going totally bonkers if it's gonna get a plot. Hate all other OE games after all. Silly plot driven games.
Atleast KOTOR2 had Ph4t l33t!
You're both a Dungeon Siege fan and an Alpha Protocol fan, your opinion on the subject doesn't matter!
No, but seriously, it wasn't meant to be dismissive.
Not everyone has to like non-linear narrative and long and involved dialogues in game.
I know you're joking Oner, but considering the posts I've read of Dungeon Siege fans that have arrived here, I don't know how a story-heavy DS will be received by fan of the franchise.
Hopefully Obsidian this time can make gameplay just as fun as the narrative, so that both action-rpg lovers and C&C/story/PS:T fans will be satisfied.
Over the top medieval matrix limb action.
Will this matrix limb action involve crates?
It's pretty important, I know you devs are busy but try to answer ASAP.
Looks like he's beardless.
........................................
He finally did it.
He did it.
He cut his beard.
He kept his promise.
He cut his beard.
They've learned from the mistakes in Alpha Protocol.
Crate have physics, can bounce, roll, explode, implode, become sentient, and are actually one of the main factions in the game.
The other, of course, being barrels.
So all you're saying is that textures change over the course of development?
I suspect it wasn't missing it's texture data when it was created.
The point is that posting an image where the armor misses its unique texture is bad.. well not bad, more like, sloppy PR.
Especially when you then post a screenshot with the correct looking armor just near the other image.
Then again, as I've already pointed out, that the first gameplay footage comes from an earlier build.. well.. Bethesda's PR isn't always perfect.
I doubt they'd take out the ability of healing limbs with stimpak and leave healing limbs when resting...
Also, according to mags in Hardcore (!!!) mode to heal your limbs you either have to use a doctor's bag or see a doctor.
Mags have been wrong quite a lot in the past though, so it's not like that's a definite confirmation.
Doctor's bags are the items you need in hardcore mode for healing crippled limbs.
I'm not sure what will be their role if you don't use hardcore mode, maybe they will heal more than one crippled limb at the same time... or maybe a gif of angry Sawyer's face will appear scolding you for not playing the game in hardcore mode.
Do a comparison between the tribal pack pre-order thing and the screenshot where the item is shown in the game.
In the latter the item is clearly using the right textures, while in the one used to show what you're getting for the pre-order for some reason, it looks like it's using the wrong textures.
I tried doing an image in GIMP but I ended up covering all the details I had to actually point out, so I just gave up.
No, I guess he means 'looks like they've completely forgotten to activate 'ArchiveInvalidated' here '.
Really, the textures are all over the place.. the wrong place.
The fun thing is that the screenshot itself shows the right textures.. it's just the 'pre-order image' that's messed up.
Some sloppy PR lately Bethesda huh?
First the early build gameplay footage on IGN, then this....
EDIT : Just look at what should be the ammo belt and you'll understand.
And I'd be more interested in to knowing what exactly is the wall behind the guy.
It kinda looks out of place in that shot.. again, bad angles are bad angles.
