  1. By 'generic' I mean 'it hasn't a strong personality'/'doesn't look unique'. Depending on how it's done, it's not necessarily bad, though of course, most of the time it is. That was the look of Dungeon Siege I & II by the way, so they're keeping it in line with that.
  2. I don't know. One of my friends is bat**** insane when it comes to rpgs, both J and W, and has picked up FFXIII day one, and I've yet to meet a 'JRPG fan' as you describe it, outside of gaming forums. Then again, my personal experience doesn't mean much, but those numbers must come from some people, and trust me, they can't be all JRPG hardcore fans. EDIT : Also, about Dragon Age, I'm pretty sure I saw solid datas that put its sales (a lot of time ago, by the way) at over 2 millions... at least.
  3. Didn't honestly notice this great improvements with AI, though I mostly play RPGs and action-adventures, with the occasional extremely unpolished but atmospheric soviet shooter in between.
  4. You seriously think that a million-seller JRPG like Final Fantasy sells only amongst the die-hard fans? That's a bit naive. P.S. : Just to clarify I didn't want to be rude or sarcastic/****-ish and that's what the smile means.. in before an inevitable angry response
  5. It could very well be a streaming isometric RPG using the Onyx Engine, as long as its technology permits it.
  6. Wondering if this game will have minigames.
  7. You mean 'Upgraded Obsidian'? Because until now there's always been the 'polish -3'.
  8. Ahh ok thank you. I guess now the question is, is it a streaming isometric RPG like the first 2 or simply an RPG using the Onyx engine? Nope, the real question is : will the forum be here or will there be another external link?
  9. It's official. "News time! #SquareEnix Announces Partnership w/ #Obsidian for #DungeonSiege 3 Looking forward to collaborating w/ @Feargus @DeathBot9" "Oh and #DungeonSiege 3 will be a multi-platform release this time around " Who the hell is SquareEnixSonia? Do they even work at SE? I saw no such mention in their bio. I don't remember what her role is but she does work at Squeenix. Heck, she was the one giving 'hint hint we're going to work with Chris Taylor again!' twitter messages that funcroc immediately posted here.
  10. Baldur's Gate 2 had multiplayer too. Not as the main focus, though. Who says that's the main focus in this game? They also listed party members among the features.
  11. Baldur's Gate 2 had multiplayer too.
  12. I doubt Obsidian (and Square Enix for that matter) would be so stupid as to make it another Diablo clone. It will most probably have the quest structure of an rpg, otherwise Diablo III success would dwarf it (well.. there's always a market for Diablo clones anyway, so who knows, maybe this will come first).
  13. Now you can tell us, Alvin, are you working on Dungeon Siege III? :D

  14. Concept art = cool if a bit generic. Doesn't really give me any particular vibe, but at least the settings (assuming all those things will be in the game) seem varied enough.
  15. Hopefully this is done with in-house tech. EDIT : 'Nathaniel is a good designer'. I could have fun interpreting this.
  16. It would certainly be more interesting imho, though I hope they just go the Deus Ex route, and don't place meters or things like that.
  17. Pretty much. It was essentially an hack'n'slasher as far as I've seen, though, the PR seems to suggest that this will be an RPG...
  18. I have a couple of friends that play Dungeon Siege II. Assuming that they're interested and the co-op mode is decent, I may have found a reason to be mildly interested in this. Still the chances for it turning into a disaster are pretty high.
  19. Yes, Ziets' work will be awesome Well, he had some pretty fun things to play with the Forgotten Realms, I don't know anything about is work on Lord of the Rings online, but, assuming the Dungeon Siege setting is either so bland and empty that they can't rework it from inside without contradicting, or has enough fun things to play with, it could turn out like a good game storywise. ... let's just say that's not my concern
  20. Uh oh. Obsidian must be bleeding money from left and right to make sequel to one of the most boring trailroad diablo clones. Pretty much. I still hope they can surprise me with this project but honestly... the premises are not good. Not good at all.
  21. Not a joke unfortunately, see the 'Obsidian's unannounced project' topic. And yeah, that's not exactly the most promising project...
  22. Wait, wait, I know the inevitable answer someone will give you to this, so at least I'll anticipate him/her/it : doesn't that mean that trailers are indicative of a game's quality?
  23. And....? "They can't write." I'm guessing.Question is, who wrote the thing. I'm pretty sure that it was Eidos Montreal or what the hell is their name that did the writing. And it's a trailer, seriously, with something like, 3 lines of dialogue that were trying to hammer a point. It's not like this will be indicative of the quality of the game writing and even if it is.. it's about on par with Deus Ex.
  24. By the way, we knew Dungeons Siege III was being worked on since 2008, so either Obsidian was behind this all along, or they scrapped that and gave Obsidian the assignment/interrupted the work and told Obsidian to completed (I mean, this is a classic Obsidian job, pick up from what other devs' left and work on top of it) or the PR announcement is wrong (doubtful) and this isn't Dungeons Siege 3 but Dungeon Siege HD, so Obsidian is just remaking the first game instead of creating a sequel from scratch (isn't the story the same by the way? can someone inform me on this? I've never played Dungeon Siege, and if I'll do it one day, it will be to play the Ultima remakes). Obligatory smilie :
