  1. And....?
  2. WAIT? WHAT???!!! Ok... I've... coped with the news, so I'll try to post a comment. First : - Obsidian is in a ****ty situation. Honestly, Alpha Protocol bombed an now we know that all their project are sequels or someone else's IP. It's not looking good at all. - Dungeon Siege? Seriously? Couldn't you pick something a little bit more interesting? Even Obsidian's writers can't do miracles with stale settings. - Co-op mode and multiplatform. Sounds like a recipe for disaster =/
  3. From what I've got from the PC Gamer preview there aren't skills (just as in Invisible War) but there still experience point that you can put in your augment to unlock new abilities, simulating Adam Jensen getting accustomed to them. Opinions?
  4. Actually, he didn't say it just based on AP. Also bigotry =/= cultural differences. Looking at various reviews of various non-AAA games, it's clear that european mags (which could or could not be in line with what european gamers think) like RPGs with 'old concepts' more than american ones. There's no bigotry in saying that, and it's not certainly meant as a condescending remark. Let's not even touch the adventure genre topic...
  5. Personally, what I don't like with Deus Ex regenerating health is this essentially: no locational damage. Or at least, they justified no locational damage with 'you can't do that with regen health'.
  6. You seem to be going the extra mile to prove my point. Yeah, it's clear that graphically those games are far ahead of anything that could have been done with the previous generation console. But apart from that, there's nothing that really makes me go 'wow, we couldn't have something like that with the PS2!'.
  7. Not wanting to open a really big can of worms, but the same could be said about pretty much every game I've played this year. Really, take out the graphic engine and you've got a game that was perfectly possible to produce for older generation consoles, considering that the design hasn't really changed that much (today everything has regenerating health, but that's about the only thing that has changed..). What you been playing? Dragon Age Mass Effect Fallout 3 A lot of other titles are indies/european lesser budget titles, so they aren't relevant. I've also fiddled a bit with Gears of War 2, which was honestly, a less-than-thrilling title IMHO, but that's just a matter of tastes.
  8. Actually no, it's pretty hated by the Beth crowd too, from what I've seen, with people who liked it in the minority. Now there's a surprise. But they still want aliens in general to be canon, no? I think there's a split, but for the most part, every time aliens are mentioned you can expect flames and nerdraeg.

  10. Hopefully, the Alien Blaster. My favourite tool to swiftly off the ubiquitous Giant Radscorpion. Hopefully not, not because I don't like it as a weapon, not because I hate easter eggs, but because I can imagine the ****storm on the Bethesda forums with things like 'OBSIDIAN??!! WHY HAVE YOU MADE MOTHERSHIP ZETA CANNON??!!' Yeah 'cannon'. That spelling is more common than the correct one, and no, that's not just a Beth's forums problem.
  11. I honestly don't remember the name, so I just wrote what sounded as close as possible to what the weapon looks like and does.
  12. Enlighten us, Alvin. Music_Boss_Temp.upk, includes "The Final Countdown" song, which doesn't appear currently in the game, so I guess it was planned as some point as Brayko boss song. Yup, MCA confirmed that on his twitter.
  13. By the way, back on topic, we know for sure that we'll have these weapons as energy weapons: - laser pistol, laser rifle, plasma rifle, laser minigun (assuming they'll make a return); - plasma caster (I think it's the plasma rifle from Fallout 1 and 2); - flamethrower; - (uncertain) plasma grenades? plasma mines? ; - probably something else too. I'm wondering if laser/plasma weapons will have special properties or simply a different feel (when it comes to recoil and such) to set them apart from firearms.
  14. Sawyer made it very clear that he wants every combat build to be viable. In Fallout 3 vanilla some combat builds were greatly penalized compared to others (of course, by level 10, you'd have almost every combat skill up to at least 50, so it wasn't really a problem anymore, but it seems like they're working on this problem too), so MOAR GUNZ is more of a 'there will be various strategic choices, and situational weapons for every character build' to me. Also, when it comes to preview and such, guns are obviously a bigger attraction than some tweaks to stealth or 'look, we have better quest design!'.

By the way, been playing The Secret of Monkey Island : Special Edition. Don't really understand all the fuss 'yeaaargh they've changed Guybrush hair!'.. actually I think that's how a remake should be done. Even just clicking F10 to return to the old graphics and watch what the presentation would have been and then returning to the remake graphics and sounds (seamlessly) is a lot of fun. About the only complaint I have is that they could have made possible to use the new remastered sound with the old graphics, but who really cares? I like the new presentation. Fits the mood just right.
  16. Because human eyes are able to see that 20FPS difference... RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT.... Actually they can. Also that's not really the point. I also don't think they want to bash anyone, and if I had to find a target for some perceived bashing, it would be Valve, for not being capable of a perfect port. Still, it seems like the performance differences are not as big as some other ports, so all in all, I'd still be pretty happy to be a Mac owner who plays with Steam (since I doubt that someone would buy a Mac for games, so the rapidly extending library is more like icing on the cake).
  17. It's not really a framerate problem, it has more to do with stuttering (especially microstuttering). At least on my rig. Installing that mod (well, actually it's more of a FOSE plug-in) resolved my problems.
  18. I'm going to refrain from suggesting you to change your video card, Wals, but if there's one thing I can say, it's that Fallout 3 is badly optimized. I really mean it. Try to get a couple of optimizing mod like the stutter reducer.
  19. I was joking. (There was even the smile to note it : ) And by the way PS:T sold something like 400k, and very slowly too. That's basically the reason why Interplay didn't even consider doing a sequel.
  20. According to the article above, 2K Games had "acquired publishing rights to both Dungeon Siege II: Broken World for the PC, and also Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony for the PSP." When did 2K Games acquire the publishing rights for DSIII? I've never heard of it. Forget what I said, for some reason I though I read DSIII among those other games in the article. Sorry.
  21. No one implied they did. But if 2K Games still owns the publishing rights for Dungeon Siege III, shouldn't that rule out the possibility of Squeenix publishing it?
  22. It isn't great, but considering the bashing by both the reviewers of the world, and also your type -- it's not bad, either. Seriously... That's a bad number regardless of the bashing. Heck, Blur has sold badly in the UK, something like 10k units if I remember correctly, and that was well recieved. 30K world wide isn't even worth talking about. Actual sales figures cost a fortune, and then they're not exact. They're not 30k world wide. They're 30k in Europe during two days.
  23. ... a space siege sequel then?
  24. Oh ok, that sounds about right.
  25. DX3's gonna own you guys!!! Just remembered, DX 1's premise came into existence somehow like this: My (Warren Spector) wife loves X-Files. What is X-Files made of? Conspiracies, aliens, conspiracies. Why not make a game with even more conspiracies and hair raising theories? I thought Deus Ex's premise was 'why the **** can't I fight in Thief if I want to? why am I forced to stealth? NERDRAEEEEEEEEG, me gonna go and make Deus Ex', or at least, that's pretty much how I remember Warren Spector describing it in a blog post.
