  1. My main thought was that someone who apparently enjoyed Byzantine History - which has some very fun and twisted politics and machinations - was the principle writer for the SI. Makes me wonder how much that influenced the class storyline, and whether that's a good sign for the maniplative , political aspect of it all... I mean, okay, not expecting huuuuge politics in an mmo, but there should be some interesting throw-ins for the Sith Inquisitor..
  2. Heh, the return of "Claude"?
  3. Got a link for us? I picked up the PC version via Steam. But apparently there's also Xbox360 and PS3 versions are available over the relevent networks as well.. Initiation Station Goes Live
  4. So the "Initiation Station" for Saints Row the Third can be downloaded. Basically lets you play around with the character creation options, and nada beyond that. Briefly entertaining to see what it can do, but there's only so much fun you can have just doing that...
  5. Try reading Lewis' The Screwtape Letters. They're rather brilliant.
  6. The puppy has a bit of the devil in him today which is being so much fun.. Hm, and mom apparently won some raffle, and we've had 25 liters of Olive oil delivered to the house...
  7. Heh, the person who was in charge of writing the story for the Sith Inquisitor class has gone on to pick up a masters in Ancient Byzantine History. That's.. interesting. Sith Inquisitor Interview
  8. It's not so much a tough love approach, as a "please hold still while I apply my boot to your arse" approach..
  9. Was trundling along taking care of assorted matters today, went into the evening with various distractions, paused for a moment and then just got hit by a very tiring kind of feeling. Just suddenly started thinking about the Ex (the lost love type of grand-ex of ex's), and how she has kids now. Had that kind of realisation that I am quite envious/jealous of her husband, both for being married to her and for the kids. Just that whole..weird angsty longing to have that family halloween and what it would be like to take the kids out trick or treating and get back home with her. I think I need a serious mental scrub and get back to keeping myself distracted. Or find some game to blow **** up. Compartmentalisation is my friend.
  10. What was it? Well, twisting "A Christmas Carol" around into a kind of romantic comedy. Mathew McConaughey and Jennifer Gardner as the principle leads and Michael Douglas as the dead pervey womanising uncle trying to stop his nephew following in his footsteps... Nothing too serious, nothing too heavy, but with some odd moments of smart and humerous dialogue. Hm, and on a totally seperate note, something I stumbled across. Princess Bride Reunion
  11. I did catch Ghosts of Girlfriends Past when it was on tv the other night. It was surprisingly good for what it was.
  12. For that slightly oddball thing, random trivia I stumbled upon, but Israel initially banned Goldfinger from being shown, because Gert Frobe (the actor who played Goldfinger) had been a member of the Nazi party during WW2. It only later came out when several Israeli families went forward to publicly thank him, that it turned out that he'd been using his position in the party to hide jews from the Gestapo, and then smuggle them out of Germany.
  13. Having a dabble at Ghostbusters the Video Game. The story seems interesting, and having the whole cast back for the voicework is a nice touch. Although some of the movement and controls are a little eh. Especially capture streams. I'm not sure if that's just because they were designed for consoles and gamepads and I'm using mouse and keyboard or what...
  14. It's a saturday, so I didn't put on my alarm. I apparently slept in and didn't wake up until it had gone noon. At which point I found out that no-one else in the family had thought to help mom get her meds out and sorted for the day, and that finally someone had decided to make her a drink about 5 mintues before I got up.
  15. I got a bit excited because of the trailer; which doesn't show D'Artagnan that much, and was under the impression that it was going to be the Three Musketeers + Milla Jovovich. That I would watch but they had to put freaking Percy Jackson on it. And they're doing another Percy Jackson film apparently. Actually the books aren't that bad for what they are. And it's Three Musketeers as long as you can get your mind around "alternate world / da vinci style steampunk" parts of it. And D'artagnan's acting isn't too bad, it's that freaking hairstyle that just jumps out and tries slapping you around the face.
  16. Lets see, when I had my part-time job at the hostpital, as an employee I had abuse hurled at me from the nurses, the members of the public, and my bosses would encourage me to break all the health and safety regulations to get the work done on time - as long as they never saw me doing it, in which case they'd come down on me like a ton of bricks. If I didn't, they'd come down on me for the job taking too long.... As the family member of someone who recurringly ended up as a patient at the hospital, I just got the odd moments of abuse from the nurses and doctors, and the rest of the public there pretty much ignored you. Although thats probably just a wee bit snarky to the way the nhs has devolved over the last decade or two rather then a useful perspective. But eh, its funny actually, I practically grew up spending months visiting the Hospital due to my mother going in for long chunks of time, then ended up with a part-time job there during my college and university years. My dad ended up working in management accountancy at the hospital after leaving the docks (yeah, dockie and cargo crane operator to management accountancy...), and for a chunk of time my sister was actually getting paid by the NHS trust. Hm. As a customer (regardless of who with) you expect a certain level of service. - Ie; you expect the nurses to do their job and not ignore calls for them while they talk about the latest tv show and round of x-factor. You expect doctors to prescribe the right drugs, in the right amount and for them to be delivered at the correct times. You expect a certain level of hygiene and standards. As an employee , you expect a paycheque, some form of time management of when you are and are not working, to receive the correct training for the job and to be kept to the standards required as set out when you were hired. Also, if it's a job involving the public, you expect to deal with a certain amount of abuse and stupidity.
  17. picked up Ghostbusters out of curiousity since it's reduced down to a pound and loose change.

  19. When the family picks up a stomach bug.. those are the days you give thanks to the fact that there is more then one toilet in the house...
  20. Hm, realised I have a rather massive of amount of tv shows saved up to watch at some point. Need to have that vital combination of actual time to sit down and catch up with those shows and the mood to spend the time that way.
  21. Saints Row 2, while having some bad port issues, just kept to the idea of being a slightly silly, over-the-top kind of open world. It would slam you with stupid - but fun - ultra violence, and then actually provide some serious emotion, then blink you to a storyline scene that would make you wince, before sliding straight back into OTT silliness. And everything I've seen of Saints Row the Third seems that they've kept that tongue firmly in cheek while making sure it's going to work fine on all game systems.
  22. Oh, don't mistake me. I had fun with GTA 3, and Vice City just made me smile , San Andreas had its ups and downs but was fairly entertaining. But GTAIV just.. I don't know, it turned into a grind rather then something I was enjoying exploring and playing. Between the annoyance of getting the game started and dealing with the social club login or not, the games for windows stuff, and the sheer amount of time it took before you could actually get into the game proper.. then the months of glitches.. and just.. the storyline never really grabbed my attention. Maybe that was just the russian pessimism and bleakness bleeding in.. But yeah, it just sapped my enjoyment and I still haven't finished it. Every time I've tried it just.. hits a point where I am just totally uninterested in starting it up again.
  23. Hm, I wouldn't have said so. The disapearances in Detroit seem much more..specific and noticable. The fact that you have a detective in the police station with a wall of missing women (and only women) and an investigation underway. You don't have any noticable missing notices in Hengsha, even though a whole bunch of people in storage in the Missing Link seem to be from there.. Something about the Detroit situation seems to feel different to me at least.
  24. Eh, I'm still more interested in Saints Row then GTAV. I like my odd forays into bat-**** crazy.
