  1. Heh, from an author's blog. On Being A Teenager in a Digital Age
  2. Oh, not sure if many of you knew this was out there.. but if you didn't I'm sure the Breaking Bad crowd will get a kick out of it.. http://youtu.be/OuoZqLyMMI4

  4. I definitely have noticed a change in those high level spaceship missions. I used to be able to spend 5 minutes running through one just for a break from everything else and having a bit of fun with the music blasting out and shooting up enemy fighters and completing the mission and usually getting most of the bonuses. The last week I've just given up in frustration because I keep getting smashed to a pulp by the halfway point on every one I've tried playing.
  5. Well it's more a thing with my dad. But parts of it is that I provide an amount of "house keeping" rent to my mother, so there's figuring out which goes which way. Plus family politics. Although it was kind of amusing to do my dad's old trick with the phone bill back on him. He used to drive us all insane every time the phone bill turned up and run around questioning everyone on all numbers called so he could figure out if there were any that shouldn't be there. So I went with the "Hm, so do you recognise this number from Fareham? This number from..." I actually have another phone line for my work at home which is on a separate bill, so I leave it up to them to sort out who handles the other house phone that's part of that package. The tv is mostly used by my mother, who when she's having a bad day with all the health issues tends to have that switched on in the background by her bed. It pretty much gets divided by her covering the tv, I cover the internet, and dad does the "but I don't really use them" while every other moment you find him on the computer or watching the tv. Family politics, always fun..
  6. Coulson turns out to be a LifeModelDecoy but doesn't know it? It was a nice brief appearance of Ron Glass as well. Be interesting to see whether he turns up in more, as well as if Agent Hill makes any other cameo's as time goes by. They do seem to be having Coulson be fairly whimsical with his humour. How effective that'll be as they develop it out, and compared to some of Whedon's other shows it felt aimed more at the juvenile crowd and not quite as dark as he can go.
  7. Sorting out some bills. Since for various reasons I now pay the direct debit for the phone lines, internet, tv package.. I got to chase the family for their share, and the joys of folks doing the "well I use x, but I don't really use y much so should I really be covering..."
  8. Or to return to a classically exotic style..
  9. It doesn't beat the original approach... http://youtu.be/aVZUVeMtYXc
  10. And for random tv news.. SyFy seems to be taking a break from reality tv to do : Deadline - SyFy Projects
  11. Although one thing that hasn't been mentioned yet is whether the stronghold is going to be a generic, one size fits all type or if it's going to differ in any way depending on your race/culture/class etc. I mean I'm sure the basic elements are all going to be the same regardless, but is there going to be any thematic / art differences to the stronghold depending on such issues? Is our wizadry types going to be creating more arcana filled towers compared to our warriors military fortifications? Our close to nature ranger-types establishing a blending-into-environment stronghold? Or our roguish types pushing more of a fortified caravanserai? Will they effect the possible extra's and additions we get to push for the strongholds? Are some only going to be available if you're of a specific class, or if you have a particular companion / henchmen / hireling / minion?
  12. I have to admit, I'm getting a little annoyed with the change to the patch/game loader these days. I think I'll just pop on for a quick check, sort out some crew skills or wotnot.. and then it has a short patch update. So it takes a minute to download. That's fine. It then spends 20 minutes "Re-organising files" "Verifying files" taking another 30 seconds of download, then Re-organising and Verifying those files...Then updating. By the time it's over the planned 10-15 minutes of poking around in the game for a break is gone and dusted and half an hour is spent with the bloody thing just doing that.
  13. The Blacklist looks like it might be interesting. Although there has been a rather large supply of conspiracy/criminal masterminds abounding on tv of late. James Spader working the mojo as the man with a plan. Of course, it's hard not to see it as an "evil" Alan Shore..
  14. One of these days we really should arrange a mass gathering of Obsidianites for Ros to take out on the town so we can be truly amazed...
  15. Castle. Well the answer to the proposal was as amusing as was generally expected, and then they kept it fairly serious for the rest of the episode. And leaving a season opener on a cliffhanger, that's kind of unusual.
  16. I think there's that difference between dancer/athletically fit and toned.. who manage to keep a nice shape and still feel like a woman when you run a hand over their thigh or.. wherever.. Compared to those who work out to the extreme that their muscles are solid to the point of feeling more like a guy if you caress them. That's when it's not working for me.
  17. Okay, just to come out of left field, for the comparison aspects in general.. GTA in general always has that "gangsta & ho" approach. Which, by everyones fair standards is pretty much not about female empowerment.. While it takes a lot of elements to silly levels - America's love of guns, and the gunshops they put in the game to make a point, they never quite seem to do so with the women. Compare it to Saints Row (well, from SR2 onwards) where , yes, they equally have boobs and prostitutes and suchlike, but they obviously make it tongue-in-cheek and so overblown it's clearly not serious, and never quite as offensively thrust into your face. That, and they throw in various female characters that have depth beyond wiggling around. It's all about finding the right balance point I would say. Not necessarily blunting it to be pro-feminist or pushing it to pro-macho dude.
  18. It's all about the eyes.. honest guv..
  19. Well he got de-balled a couple of years back. He peed on two beds, so that Christmas week we took him to the vets and he got the snip. That's what you call a serious Christmas present..
  20. I suppose we should have something to balance it out and for the general variation...
  21. Oh for those physical workout experts out there.. this one might be of interest: CrossFit's Dirty Little Secret
  22. I have no idea why, but the cat has been wandering about and going into bouts of loud yowling off and on since about 5am....
  23. Alabama Elementary School asks Parents for Permission to Hit the Kids
  24. Well I've had hm, it crashed twice just after I first installed it, but apart from that it's been rock solid on my pc. So the pc version seems to be running fairly well...
