Update #63: Stronghold!
Raithe replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Although one thing that hasn't been mentioned yet is whether the stronghold is going to be a generic, one size fits all type or if it's going to differ in any way depending on your race/culture/class etc. I mean I'm sure the basic elements are all going to be the same regardless, but is there going to be any thematic / art differences to the stronghold depending on such issues? Is our wizadry types going to be creating more arcana filled towers compared to our warriors military fortifications? Our close to nature ranger-types establishing a blending-into-environment stronghold? Or our roguish types pushing more of a fortified caravanserai? Will they effect the possible extra's and additions we get to push for the strongholds? Are some only going to be available if you're of a specific class, or if you have a particular companion / henchmen / hireling / minion?- 455 replies

I have to admit, I'm getting a little annoyed with the change to the patch/game loader these days. I think I'll just pop on for a quick check, sort out some crew skills or wotnot.. and then it has a short patch update. So it takes a minute to download. That's fine. It then spends 20 minutes "Re-organising files" "Verifying files" taking another 30 seconds of download, then Re-organising and Verifying those files...Then updating. By the time it's over the planned 10-15 minutes of poking around in the game for a break is gone and dusted and half an hour is spent with the bloody thing just doing that.

The Blacklist looks like it might be interesting. Although there has been a rather large supply of conspiracy/criminal masterminds abounding on tv of late. James Spader working the mojo as the man with a plan. Of course, it's hard not to see it as an "evil" Alan Shore..

One of these days we really should arrange a mass gathering of Obsidianites for Ros to take out on the town so we can be truly amazed...

Castle. Well the answer to the proposal was as amusing as was generally expected, and then they kept it fairly serious for the rest of the episode. And leaving a season opener on a cliffhanger, that's kind of unusual.

I think there's that difference between dancer/athletically fit and toned.. who manage to keep a nice shape and still feel like a woman when you run a hand over their thigh or.. wherever.. Compared to those who work out to the extreme that their muscles are solid to the point of feeling more like a guy if you caress them. That's when it's not working for me.- 526 replies

Okay, just to come out of left field, for the comparison aspects in general.. GTA in general always has that "gangsta & ho" approach. Which, by everyones fair standards is pretty much not about female empowerment.. While it takes a lot of elements to silly levels - America's love of guns, and the gunshops they put in the game to make a point, they never quite seem to do so with the women. Compare it to Saints Row (well, from SR2 onwards) where , yes, they equally have boobs and prostitutes and suchlike, but they obviously make it tongue-in-cheek and so overblown it's clearly not serious, and never quite as offensively thrust into your face. That, and they throw in various female characters that have depth beyond wiggling around. It's all about finding the right balance point I would say. Not necessarily blunting it to be pro-feminist or pushing it to pro-macho dude.

Well he got de-balled a couple of years back. He peed on two beds, so that Christmas week we took him to the vets and he got the snip. That's what you call a serious Christmas present..

Well I've had hm, it crashed twice just after I first installed it, but apart from that it's been rock solid on my pc. So the pc version seems to be running fairly well...

Rather then deal with practical cooking tonight.. Went for an indian takeout. So I've gone for my old standby of a Lamb Balti with Peshwari Naan..

She is. It's been a running thing from Saints Row 3, the boss loves Period Romance and Jane Austen. It turns out that Zinyak is also a major fan of her work. Dedicated.

Gamespot actually makes a point of saying that while the game play is great and a shining step forward for open world games, there are problems with characters not being coherent, and how so many story issues crop up that seem to step over how they'd been behaving earlier. Also, noting the extreme misogyny of the entire thing that almost seems to be taking it to silly levels to make a point, but in a manner then ends up glorifying it rather then pointing out how crappy it is.

Arkane is working on a sequel, so more of that is on it's way. And I hear the dlc are good, going to get them myself when they pop on steam sale. I just hope Arkane can improve their storytelling for the sequel, that's the only thing I found lacking in Dishonored to say the least. I thought their use of books, notes, and general world building was fantastic. There were also some compelling characters like Slackjaw and the Spymaster. But they went in an odd direction with the story, it was almost like they were rushing it at the end and trying to force the plot to work in a way that didn't make too much sense. I'm not explaining it well, but hopefully they can iron it out for the sequel. An example of storytelling that isn't that great in my opinion: What I found interesting is that in a lot of cases, the "nonlethal" version was incredibly much more traumatic and nasty then just killing them.

Well, if you want to take a stab at dream analysis, I woke up from one where I was leading a horde of Chaos Space Marines and plotting how to attack a Space Marine Fortress Monastery for some reason. Including vivid sequences of setting the initial sneak attack to disrupt defenses, involved aerial attacks, and darkened corridors with blood spray and plenty of stabby-slashy melee moments.

I need to get back to giving it some more tries, but I've barely played any games over the last week.

I just decided I'm not going to play this game after all. Oh, it's all done in good taste and tongue firmly planted in cheek.

Autumn Reeser and Emmanuele Vaugier. Reeser was one of the Command & Conquer girls as well as a whole bunch of tv. Vaugier turns up in a lot of tv shows and as a supporting actress in a fair few films as well.- 526 replies
