  1. So it was Bill Gates holding the camera?
  2. "CombiChrist- Get your body beat" for some reason I can't get off the militant electronic beat out of my head.
  3. The four feathers. Hope that you never get them. Because you won't be so awesome ridding yourself of shame.
  4. I don't take offense. Ever. It's only a positive aspect if you like ME. If dialog is as deep as ME i'm burning this game. The only reason that the comparison was ever drawn is that Obsidian has been making BW sequels for the past 5 years. Now they try to do an action shooter RPG with cinematic conversations that has nothing to do with ME and everyone thinks that they are copying BW.
  5. Really?! So considering that ME's combat is similar to Gears of Wars(which is one of the most copied third person shooter mechanics in recent years) and that Gears of Wars was inspired by RE4. So ME=RE4, right? Come on man! Give me something more definitive that a passed down mechanic that every action game uses now day.
  6. But it had other elements that made it more sci-fi. It was set in a dystopian future and it had strong fundamentalist human issues (which were in my opinion, the main villain of the movie). Success doesn't mean that is sci-fi, nor i'm I denying the qualities of the film I think of "pure" science-fiction as having certain characteristic that are true since the beginning of the genre. A central scientific or pseudo-scientific Idea around which a story is weaved packed with themes that question existence, reality and the human condition. The Time machine is a perfect example of this.
  7. I really don't see the Sci-fi on Wall-e. Is a children movie with some scientific themes which are not treated in the film. Has it really been that bad for science fiction the last years that there isn't anything better than Wall-e. P.S: Avatar would had been a great Sci-fi if it had focused more on reality and the duality of the main character instead of all that treehugging nonsense.
  8. But they gave us democracy and made English the language of commerce thus prompting all stupid Americans to think is because they are important and " The Greatest Country in the World" .
  9. the first matrix had a kewl factor due as much to the aesthetic as the material. we loathe keanu reeves... and the story as a whole had that kinda ridiculous anime quality that keeps us from being able to appreciate Japanese sci-fi. nevertheless, matrix, at the time, looked amazing... and Larry Fishburn and Joe Pantloliano were excellent... as were Elrond. "Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson." HA! Good Fun! The Matrix is; IMO, one of the best movies of all times. Not only for the visual effects which painted all the movies that came afterwards, but by the efficiency of the visual "language" that had been missing from films for so long. The sequels were moneymaking whores (A.K.A. blockbusters) but the original by itself is a great piece of cinema, with great shots and a great storyline taken right out of The Prisoner. Plus I disagree with the notion that the 90's were bad years for sci-fi, they were plagued by a lot of B-rated films but amongst them gems of hardcore science fiction can be found. Johnny Mnemonic Flatliners 12 monkeys The island of Dr. Moreau Independence day Cube Gattaca PI The 13 floor Dark city That's excluding all the spoofs that plague the genre and all the animes that defined the era.
  10. I tell you this, it is not worth the money.
  11. Second it, I always enjoy low populated forums. Still read the bio social site forums, it's riddled with romance threads, character threads, wild speculations that border on fan fiction and an insurmountable amount of characters fan groups. Fandom is basically deciding the cast of ME3. I rather keep that away from this game as much as possible, since crowd pleasing always seems to do games wrong.
  12. They spent millions of dollars to tell me what I already know in my heart. I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH AFRICA
  13. I don't think that what you say is necessarily true. We now have 2 decades of gaming, by now there is a consensus about what type of controls work with each kind of game. Now I can jump into a game and the controls feel familiar because they are based on a previous model. I don't think this is bad. What I oppose is that the rise of gaming and in becoming more mainstream, the target audience has gone from: the gamer to the casual gamer. The publishing aspect demands that as many people as possible are able to play the game, thus the easy setting and dumbed down mechanics. Back in the day, when the industry wasn't as massive there was still a lot of space to explore what you could do with games, you could have a groundbreaking achievement or a big flop but it revealed something about gaming as a whole. Those are the kinds of risks that aren't being taken by the mainstream gaming scene today. Were it not for the few spotlights shined on independent developers or underrated jewels, innovation in video games would be completely lost to repetition.
  14. Mexican Independence day and it matters because we also celebrate St. Patrick's day. Since when do people need an excuse to do tequila bodyshots
  15. True, but back then the technology was still primitive so you had to have short games. I guess that this whole crossing over to the mainstream that RPG games now suffer is begging to hurt the genre. Now the causal, average gamer, who doesn't have 100 hours to sit in front of a screen is the demographic. Plus there is the whole dumbing down mechanics so that a 4 year old can play the game, making gameplay as exciting as watching a movie. Not always a bad thing, but taxing when it becomes to easy to beat a game. Not to fall in with the whole when I was younger things, but back then there wasn't as much flair within the games so a strong content was needed. That is something that I feel lacking in today's games, they are flashy but empty.
  16. So how many skill points he had in his small arms skill?
  17. WoW... a whole 1 day of gameplay for 50 bucks... One of the reason as to why I partially support piracy Yes, always have to find someway to justify your unwarranted sense of entitlement. Better losing some pride than losing 50 bucks on an unsatisfactory game.
  18. They still will pretend that it's an elephant. And will be loud when doing so. (Then they become a majority.) Don't make me think about it! Don't! Also, I want Sis to be romanceable. Should we ask the moderators for some anti-BioFans measures?
  19. People don't see what they don't want to. Come on! They are obviously not the same, people can say that an elephant looks like a rabbit all they want but it doesn't make it so. But association with ME can garner the support of ME fans. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad one, I mean can you imagine a massive migration from the Bioboards. All of them fans bitching about romances and how they expected it to go this or that way, or asking why Sis wasn't romanceable. :ugh:
  20. I guess this is the Obsidian curse, spend a lot of time making BW sequels and you can't go original. For shame! In any case, it is free publicity and hopefully it will attract enough people to the product so that they can see how false those claims are. They are false, right?
  21. WoW... a whole 1 day of gameplay for 50 bucks... One of the reason as to why I partially support piracy
  22. Walsh, I personally don't see what is wrong with this analogy. The conditions in the golfing field vary as do those of the battlefield, but if your bother is that soldier have more stressful conditions than golfer then let me assure you that no one is saying that. It is simply a good example as to why a 1 in a millionth shot can't be pulled by just anyone.
  23. From Cuba, currently residing in Florida or as we know it: Latin America 1.1
  24. Tried my hand at Splinter Cell: Conviction; started on Sunday, finished on Monday. All in all it was kind of meh, some good moments if you like action-stealth games. It fails in that is split into both an shooter and a stealth game, with the controls for the shooting aspect being very uncomfortable.
