  1. The worst thing now isn't Steam though. It's the fact that the special editions of games are exactly the same as the standard edition, except they have thrown in one more character model and a couple of extra weapons. All digital stuff, and they have the audacity to charge 10 dollars more for it. I hug my Ultima box filled with playing cards, fabric maps and ankh's before I go to sleep every night
  2. Oh great, now Negative Nancy found this thread too. First, no-one is forcing you to donate. If you're so poor that 15$ is making you panic, don't worry! YOU DON'T HAVE TO DONATE. Second, they don't charge the money unless the project receives proper funding, which in this case is a moot point since it only took 8 hours to reach that limit.. Third, this is a site for people who are interested in trying to help their favourite game developers make the games they want. If you're not interested, move on. It's not for you. Easy, isn't it?
  3. Notch was complaining that Kickstarter only 'allowed' donations of up to a measly 10,000 dollars..
  4. Why do you play a game that you so intensely try to hate?
  5. The problem is that they need to start a project like this quick, before everyone else and their dog does the same thing, and I'm not sure Obsidian has the same hype surrounding them as Tim Schafer does. Schafer's Kickstarter project got a lot of help from the fact that almost every big gaming news site reported on Notch saying he wants to finance Psychonauts 2 a few days before this. Also, Tim Schafer is somewhat of a household name, more than almost any other game developer right now. Obsidian has Avellone, but I am not sure they can compare on the hype-o-meter. Another thing is that I think the general public are happy to donate to one of these projects. But if ten more pop up? I don't think the general public will spend 10x more money. Instead it will dilute the resources and make it more difficult to get proper funding. So.. do it quick if you're going to do it!
  6. I've never cared about DRM especially much before, but after trying to play Test Drive Unlimited 2 online and failed miserably because it (the game) thinks I am a dirty thief, I do. And this is after buying it on Steam.. It basically has two DRM's and they are at war. With me.
  7. Anyone playing it yet? It's not released until Thursday here in Sweden. Long time since I wanted a game on release day.. But it's relatively cheap so it's OK.
  8. I'm definitely getting this. So weird.. I skipped Skyrim, but I want this. What is wrong with me?!
  9. I had no idea Kovalchuk can fight.
  10. Bashed so much? I must say, for this forum, this game has been surprisingly well received (based on the demo). On this forum everfything that's not Planescape: Torment or turnbased from a century ago usually brings out all the negative superlatives (atrocious, who the hell uses that word in real life, seriously?) in people.
  11. I actually installed Diablo 2 to give it.. a third attempt (I think). Never made it past the first graveyard area before. We'll see how long I'll manage this time. It annoys me that I never completed this and Planescape: Torment (and Baldur's Gate 2, but that game is so long that I feel forgiven).
  12. I go to GoG to buy old games that work today. If they aren't actually fixing the games in any way, what am I paying them for? Might as well go the "abandonware" route then.
  13. I looked at the Dead State homepage yesterday (coincidence!) and saw that the last update is from May in 2011.. Interpret that as you want.
  14. I'll second that. 10 posts! I need at least 40 posts per page for it to be worth taking my laptop with me to the bathroom. FIX EEET.
  15. My suggestion would be to choose a language and try a smaller project first. C++ is a good language, or Java. Try making Tictactoe or Tetris or Pong or something similar first. If you can manage that, it's definitely possibke to start making a small scale game. Notch apparently made Minicraft in 48 hours
  16. If Steam offered games for my phone, yes. Now? No.
  17. Entrerix just proved that we also need a dislike button.
  18. I'm scared, hug me:(
  19. God I'm tired of all these hyped indie games that sound so cool and innovative and edgy on paper/reviews, and then when you play them they're just weak copies of some really old games, but with worse controls. I tried The Binding of Isaac just now. It felt like a Flash coded version of Smash TV. Inexact, to say the least. I think I regret paying 2
  20. I was trying Minicraft just now (Notch's mini project) on my phone.. I have never played a game with worse controls, ever. I hate touchscreen controls. All of them.
  21. ****. I took a lot of pretty screenshots using Steam in Test Drive Unlimited 2, but now they're nowhere to be found. Where did they go?!
  22. Playing Test Drive Unlimited 2 at the moment. It's so relaxing so just sit down at the computer, start it up and go free-riding for a few hours in a newly purchased supercar. I am currently burning up miles in my blue Audi RS6. Fully modified, it goes 288 km/h.. Not sure how realistic this game is I love how they made Ibiza and Hawaii though. I can actually use Google maps to find my way around!
  23. I liked it. Felt like a single player World of Warcraft. Will probably pick it up when released. The world seems interesting enough and that's all I need.
  24. I'm just happy Stalker 2 is still being developed. You can keep your other crappy news!!
  25. The gold is where it belongs. I just wish we had met Finland in the finals instead..
