  1. Exactly. Thanks for answering that. I'm sure you're very honest, it's incredibly believable. The rest was becoming a little bit too kindergarten for me, so.. I think I've proved my point here already.
  2. No, it's OK, I already thought you were a liar. You may think what you like but we know youre nothing more than a common thief. Yes, I am. I did a wrong choice 12 years ago and I stand by that because.. I'm not a liar. And I'm sure that you've never looked at porn either. And if you would ever stoop so low, I am sure you would definitely buy all of it. Right?
  3. You're right, my memory fails me. Two regions, not all of Tamriel, just checked it. A MMORPG usually has a much larger scope than a single player RPG. If it doesn't launch with all of Tamriel, it could very well be expanded later. The thought of this excites me at least. Daggerfall was massive! I would love to see a game of that scope again. Saying that you'd prefer "small sections of the world" because of the "density and detail" is almost as dumb as the people who ask "What would you prefer? A short good game or a long mediocre game?", like the two were somehow equivalents (very common question on these boards). Why would anyone prefer a mediocre game if you could choose a good game? The question should be "What would you prefer? A short good game or a long good game?". How many people would then prefer the short game? Same here. Who would prefer the smaller game, assuming they were of equal quality? The difference is only time and resources, something most MMORPG's have plenty of.
  4. It has still never been physically sold in Sweden, except in a pack (Gothic Universe, released in 2008, which I've bought) and now on GoG (and other digital retailers). So theoretically, I could have predicted the future and waited 8 years to buy it legally. Or foreseen the digital download boom and bought it legally that way ten years later. Hurlshot, one game (or a few every now and then) does not a problem make. It's when an entire country is systematically shunned arbitrarily that this "if they don't give a crap about me, then I don't give a crap about them" mentality can prosper. Been there, done that. Sweden is small. Our entire population is less than New York, one city in the US (think about that the next time you lose to us in hockey!). It took a while for us to become an accepted market. There are still small countries (usually Eastern European) that are under this curse. I am not defending piracy. But this holier-than-thou attitude that some of the narrow-minded hypocrites in this thread protrude gets on my nerves.
  5. No, it's OK, I already thought you were a liar.
  6. The NHL doesn't test their athletes during the season. He could be on steroids (helps healing immensely) and/or very strong local painkillers. Otherwise it's not humanly possible to mend anything broken in just three days.
  7. Yes, I've completely stopped taking nature shots. Sunsets? Pffft. Seen it already. Normal day attire. She calls them shorts. Yes. Shorts.
  8. Is that a question or a statement? If it's a question then, no. If it's a statement, then I don't know what you're talking about. You can put exactly as much density and detail in the whole world as you can in a small section. All you need is more time and more resources. I vastly prefer the whole world like that.
  9. They never sold the original Gothic in Sweden. And get off your high horses, Amentep and Gfted1. Do you honestly think anyone believes that if you were in the situation where you can read about games, you can see other people play the games, you know everyone in the world except in your country can play the games (something which is extremely annoying and makes you want to hurt someone.. basic human emotions), and you see the games one mouse click away on the internet, that you would not click that link?
  10. If it's like a modern version of Daggerfall (with 16000+ towns and villages and a landmass the size of Great Britain), then I'm actually interested. This is the only game that actually included all of Tamriel. I would loooove to explore that! The main flaw of Daggerfall was that it was so empty. A MMORPG would solve that problem.
  11. I think the DLC is its own island that you can just sail to after it opens up somehow in the main campaign. I didn't get it with the collector's edition (!) so I'm not sure about this, but it's what I read.
  12. How odd, I actually saw that episode yesterday. Unless manbearpig is in more than one episode..
  13. I will contribute with another one of my superbly artistic pictures. It's my favourite Ukrainian mail order bride yet again.
  14. I asked her permission. And if this wasn't a board set in the land of the free, I would upload the good pictures I've been taking of her. This girl is not shy. She's awesome.
  15. Oohh, a photo thread! Then I can finally show off some of my finest work! I took this one night when I was strolling around in the bushes outside a dormhouse and saw a window that had NOT adhered to the warnings about a crazy stalker strolling around in their bushes at night. I aimed my zoomed in camera carefully and managed to get this incredibly sharp and morally perfected picture at first try. With one hand! Semi-running!! I am very proud of myself.
  16. I love how the strawman defence immediately comes into play in a thread like this.. so old. Can't you please find some other internet meme to abuse incessantly now? Please? It's also the perfect head-in-the-sand strategy. "So what if they're censoring one site, it's not like they're gonna censor any more! And anyone claiming it will be like China is building a strawman! Strawman strawman strawman blah blah herp derp blah" I'm against piracy, I really am. But letting someone else control which sites you can or can not visit on the internet.. that's a really dangerous slippery slope.
  17. I'm not sure what people are referring to when they say this? When you explore old tombs you sometimes run into a trap and the game prompts you to press space. If you do it in time, your character will jump away from danger (space is the jump button), and if you don't.. you die. Is this a QTE? There are no other QTE's that I can think of. Mini games.. yes, there are a few. The lockpicking is one, but it's (almost) the same as in the Gothic games. You just move your mouse to left and right until you figure out the lock and it opens. There's also a shooting mini game, but I think that's entirely optional. I had a few minutes of fun with it and won some very needed gold from it. I don't remember any other mini games. Oh, right, there's a drinking mini game too. You have to click on bottles with your hand shaped mouse pointer, and for every bottle you drink, your hand becomes more and more difficult to control. You just need to click on all your bottles faster than your opponent at the other end of the table. By the way, the locks can actually be a little tricky.. ..when they start looking like this.
  18. Finished the game already. Damnit! I would give this game a 7/10, if I had to grade it. The story is so-so. Not awful or bad, but you have seen it all before and there's no twist or anything like that. You just follow along and do the things the game asks of you and that's it. But the dialogue is very well written and actually funny in a few instances. I liked it a lot. They've improved immensely since the first Gothic games. The technology behind this game is awesome. I know it flickers and the popup can be disturbing. But I had ONE crash the entire 45 (or so) hours it took me to complete the game! And that crash was 'clean', as in the game just suddenly disappeared right after the final battle! Yes, the only crash came with 30 seconds left to play. Ironic. I also didn't break any quests, there were no major bugs, I only saw two bodies fall through the terrain once and it really runs smooth as butter on my rig. Hats off to Piranha Bytes for creating such an excellent game engine. The combat.. well, this is this game's biggest flaw. I bought the parry and the riposte, but I never used them. Instead I relied on the over-abundance of healing thingies (booze, actually) as they can be ingested immediately and without penalties (no animation, no disturbance in the combat, nothing) and then just mashed the attack button from start to finish. I tried learning to parry and riposte, but it was no use. It's just quicker and less painful to smash the attack button until you win. This game really needed a dodge move. Fortunately, you'll get powerful enough after a while that the combat is swift and over with quickly. The world. Definitely the biggest strength of Risen 2, as usual when it comes to a game from Piranha Bytes. It's not big, it's not varied, it's not even pretty or majestic or any other superlative you might expect from it. But damn, do those boys at Piranha Bytes know how to create interesting nooks and crannies! There's always something to see and/or do. Always. It wasn't as good as Gothic or Gothic 3, but definitely the best I've played since.. well, Risen. I don't like that they've divided it into islands. Actually, I like the islands, but I don't like that they're feeling like individual levels now. No loading times and actual sailing would improve this a lot. The quests. Varied and funny. I had a lot more fun with the side-quests than the actual main quest. Some quests have a sort of adventure feel to them as in you have to actually think to complete them. I really like this! I still hold Gothic 3 as Piranha Bytes best work when it comes to quests, but Risen 2 is not far behind. There are a lot of them too. One funny (and worrying) thing worth mentioning is how Piranha Bytes seem to be regressing when it comes to ambition. In Gothic you had a medium sized world where you could run, jump, climb, swim and dive. In Gothic 2 you could run, jump, climb, swim and semi-dive (I think you could dive but not actually do anything under water). In Gothic 3, you could run, jump and swim. In Risen you could run, jump and semi-climb (not everywhere). In Risen 2 you can run, half-jump and barely climb (only in designated, very visible places). If there's a Risen 3, I expect to only be able to run along the ground and get stuck on small stones, like in Bioware games. WORRYING. All in all, I had a blast. The islands were a tad bit too small and repetitive, the main quest a bit too.. plain, the game mechanics a little bit too restricted (moving around the world) and too simple (the combat). But the dialogue is great, the characters likeable, the setting is awesome (never thought I'd think this) and I really wanted to just keep playing. It has that arbitrary fun factor that's so hard to pinpoint. Great game.
  19. Finished Risen 2 so I'll just upload some random screenshots I took along the way that I thought were pretty. Not so shabby for an open world, small budget game.
  20. You need cooler pants and moonlight!!
  21. I got an achievement for beating him. Just fight as usual, when you get low on hitpoints, eat provisions and keep your block up. When your hitpoints are back to safe levels, continue fighting. I also died 10+ times to him before I figured it out. Probably 20+.
  22. St. Louis Blues - LA Kings: St. Louis Blues in 6. They looked horribly strong against the Sharks. Nashville Predators - Phoenix Coyotes: One team defeats Chicago and the other Detroir? How the hell do I choose?! Ok, Predators in 7. Philadelphia Flyers - NJ Devils: Flyers in 5. Ridiculous offence, and Devils only have Kovalchuk. Goalies, what is that? NY Rangers - Washington Capitals: I think the playoff nerves are gone from Washington now. Washington in 7.
  23. I've been having a blast so far. The first part of the game (the tutorial area) is pretty clever. It doesn't really feel like a tutorial, but more like part of the introduction, yet it teaches you the most basic features of the game. It is over quickly. After that it's back to old Piranha Bytes style: let loose on a big island and get your ass handed to you. Repeatedly. I'm having plenty of fun so far. The weakest thing about Risen 2 is the combat (at least for now, when I still don't have neither magic nor firearms). As usual, I might add. The strongest part is the world and exploration. There is always something to find, if you look closely enough. The combat IS so far just a matter of clicking rapidly until your enemy goes down (if it is an animal) or try to block your enemies blows long enough for your provisions to heal you and then hit him back (if it's human). Honestly, so far I've mostly been hiding behind Patty.. I'm hoping there will be a dodge later. I'm on the verge of buying a parry at least. The graphics are functional. Nothing really jawdropping, but definitely good enough to not hurt your eyes. Sometimes I would even describe it as beautiful. But it's rough. The popup and the flickering is there. I don't mind, but I understand if others are disturbed. It runs like water on my rig at least, and that's much more important. I do not get any feeling of 'consolitis' either. The UI is great so far.
  24. I use Eurogamer.. but mostly because I'm allowed to swear. It gets tiresome that I can't even drink a ****tail in my ****pit with my ****roach friend in this place sometimes.
  25. Nevermind, I uninstalled it and restarted the install and now Steam detected the install disc (I got a weird error message about busy Steam servers the first time). Instead of having to wait 1-2 hours it will now be done in 10 minutes. Better.
