Toronto's next game? Saturday! They have a full four days of rest. Then they face Ottawa for the billionth time this season. Let's see if the Leafs manage to score one this time (and preferrably keep the opposing score under two digits).

Ok, how in the hell do you survive a fall like that when you land on your face?! I mean, isn't that the worst possible way of hitting ground?

Official Obsidian Battlefield 2 Ranked Server Up!
mkreku replied to Constant Gaw's topic in Computer and Console
Well, I don't care because I just got my ass handed to me by two complete strangers on Obsidian's servers. But I'll practice until I am ready to single-handedly take on the entire Obsidian team, including Post-It Note Man and Duct Tape Man! -
I am 100% sure I've seen a lone norwegian on these boards. But I can't seem to remember his name. I also know there are more swedes hiding here! Loof for example! PUT YOUR PIN ON THE MAP!

Off topic and out of curiosity: when does FFX become good? I've recently started playing it for the first time and so far it's been completely confusing and.. somewhat pointless. I gathered that I am a superstar Blitzball player (think Quidditch, only in water), then the town was blown to bits by Sin. After that there's been short episodes of me diving for some sort of pirates 1000 years into the future (!), me meeting a crappy Blitzball team in another country (!!) and me trying to save some weird priestess in a Temple of Trials. The really weird thing is that I've probably played the game for 2 hours.. of which I've probably had control of my character for 30 minutes while the game has practically played itself (unless you count running from point A to B in narrow corridors as playing). Does it get better or should I move on to something more my style?

Official Obsidian Battlefield 2 Ranked Server Up!

I finally got my cd-key back! And then they change to the expansion.. Although.. I logged in last night and ran around alone for like.. 2 hours. Not a single peep from anyone during that time! It got pretty boring climbing that tall crane, wasting all my ammo and then kamikazing to the ground over and over. -
"A baby could play this game. All you do is run around in your stupid little blue car, talking to other cars and counting windmills. Who Cares! This game is so boring youd have more fun cleaning a guineapig cage. I mean ooo the mayor is being held kidnaped by othe cars. Baaaad story line. I played it for about two seconds then I thought, geeze this game sux illl play rachet, and so I did. The only thing that is ok on this game is the graphics. Then I sold it. Fun little rip off." I wish I could write reviews like that.. pure poetry!

I remembered another game that I think is totally underrated: Road Trip It's a mixture of racing and RPG (a CaRPG..) that features a gigantic landmass to explore, hundreds of parts to upgrade your car with (including new chassis, which makes your car look like anything from a school bus to a sports car to a big, yellow duck) and you even get to build your own town! Since I love both racing games and RPG's, this came as a pleasant surprise to me.

Dude, you really need to work on your self esteem. At least my girlfriend thinks you're hot. Edit: Move to Sweden!

That picture is only half the truth. The price of 18,800 yen is only eligible if you sign up for an ISP for a specific amount of time. Since none of us here can read japanese (I assume?) it's impossible to tell what the real price is. It's probably like those cell phone deals you get where you pay nothing for the phone but pay lots for your calls and the monthly fee. And of course the Xbox 360 is going to sell slowly in Japan to begin with. These numbers will change once the first japanese oriented titles appear. Microsoft tried to launch the console too soon, but I don't think any harm's been done.

Aww, crap. I had high hopes for this game. Oh well, we'll get to review it sooner or later, I guess.

Six people from Europe?! I'm disappointed!

The 'new' King's Quest isn't really a new King's Quest. Vivendi aren't doing it themselves, but they've given a fan license to a bunch of amateurs on the net that have been working on a fan-made game since 2002. It's called "The Silver Lining". http://www.kqix.com/

The version of Arena that I played was so buggy that it was almost unplayable. I never really got into that game because of all the bugs. All I remember from it was that it began in a dungeon and you had to fight your way out, and when you did you ended up in a town. The town crashed on me everytime I was to enter a store or talk to someone so I basically gave up right there. I've tried replaying it after Bethesda generously released Arena for downloading but I guess it's one of those games I'll never be able to play and fully enjoy. Which is sad.

This big, drunk guy once wrestled his way into the restrooms at a local bar I was at once. As I was standing next in line when he bullied himself in I said, "Excuse me, but could you move away please? It was my turn.". He looked at me and snarled, "I don't move for idiots!", to which I replied, "Well, I do." and walked away. I got a lot of smiles and high5's from the queue, but I don't think the big, drunk guy got the insult to this day.

I'm betting $20 that no female forum poster will join in this collection of ugly mugs.

No, I absolutely despised Morrowind. I did, however, love Daggerfall. Yeah, I agree. Morrowind fit my personal taste so well on paper that I pre-ordered a Collector's Edition from the US because it was released over there almost a month earlier than in Sweden (and it is still the most expensive game I've ever bought). When it arrived I played it for 30 hours before realizing how much it sucked the fun out of my life. Since then I've practically hated it. Morrowind.. The main story is too vague and uninteresting. The combat sucks in every way imaginable. The graphics engine didn't support long viewing distances and it ran like a hog. The dialogues were as much fun as reading a telephone book. Side-quests were retarded beyond repair. The caves/dungeons were small, uninteresting, uninspired and generic, and every dungeon/cave/tomb/hole in the ground had a DOOR. How stupid is that? And finally, the character development system was ridiculously unbalanced. In my first hour of playing I entered a cave (with a door..) and the phone rang, so I ran off and talked for a good 45 minutes to 1 hour. When I got back to the game a rat had found my character standing there abandoned and had nibbled on him for the entire phone conversation. So I killed the annoying creature and saved the game, not noticing that my block skill (I think it was.. or armour skill or something) had reached ridiculous proportions. And that's basically how the system turned out to work. Jump like an idiot all the way when you walked somewhere, and before you even reached the destination you'd have leveled 3 times. Insane.

These difficulties you are talking about, are they related to the D&D rule system or technical problems from designing a game with a lot more features (and usually more free world, because the usual map constraints have to take the climbing/swimming into accounts)? I remember in Gothic 2, you could actually climb your way off the world map if you found the right spot.. Edit: question without a mark.
-
Everytime one of these lists pop up I just have to mention Gothic. Before Gothic, I was able to enjoy games like Baldur's Gate and the like. But after experiencing the immersion of Gothic, I just can't turn back. I am a 'fully explorable 3D-world' whore now. Unfortunately, no other game has even come close to the immersion factor of Gothic and Gothic 2 since then for me, except perhaps Deus Ex, but that's a whole other genre.. sort of. I need more games with huge maps where you can stay off the main quest for a week if you want!!

Ok, I'm up. Thanks for doing this so damn early in the morning too! I just had to whip on my Leafs shirt and jump in front of the webcam, without even fixing my hair!! The urgency of the Euro-pride was that overwhelming. But now the Euro's are coming!!

Only if it doesn't involve paper towels and lubricants.
