They've said in interviews that they've been fans of Fallout for years and jumped at the chance when it arrived. Apparently they have some huge fans of Fallout somewhere in the team to be able to dosh out millions of dollars for a niche license. Bethesda has always done non-linearity and free-form worlds very well, let's just hope that they straighten out their writing ability (or get some outside help *nudge* *nudge*) and dialogue system in time for Fallout 3.

I wish I could get as worked up about UFC as I can about Pride, because Pride only has like.. four GP tournaments per year and that's not really enough to satisfy my bloodlust (erm). I played this stupid game tonite.. again.. with some friends.. after a few beers.. I haven't even bothered to check out my stats this time. I just know that everyone was impressed (we were three) when I ended a session with 15 kills and 15 deaths

Uhm.. I've noticed I've become very cheap since I started reviewing games. I only buy games I really, really want, unless they end up in the bargain bin. Of course, stupid as I am, I've paid full price for such "gems" as Morrowind and Dungeon Lords.

Actually.. If you played Daggerfall to the end, you ended up with one of seven pre-rendered cut scenes, depending on which faction you were friends with. Sure, they were pretty short, but they tied up the loose ends much better than the scripted even that took place after Morrowind was completed. Isn't this the guy who once made a game series called Exile? I kind of remember the name Jeff Vogel. I think I bought Exile and Exile 2 back in.. 1994?! It can't have been that long ago.. Edit: Looked it up. It was back in 1995 (for Exile) and 1996 (for Exile 2). I'm OLD.

You guys didn't give up on this little project, did you? I'm actually enjoying myself reading through it all, even though I don't even own the game (but you guys sure make me want to play it anyhow..). It's like following a little story, complete with pretty pictures and everything.

You're right. You got to see , using the graphics engine and a not-so-complicated script. I was actually referring to a change in the world, perhaps a pre-rendered movie showing people celebrating, some sort of reward for completing the game? I just felt ripped off that even after I defeated an evil god, all that happens is that before mentioned ten second scene. One of the most unfulfilling end sequences ever.

I played the first Might and Magic's on my Commodore 64. I think it was 1-3. Then I missed 4-5, but I started again with 6, didn't like 7, enjoyed 8 a great deal and really, really tried liking 9 but failed miserably. I think it's a respectable series. Lots of exploring, lots of quest, not so much dialogue but often good stories (except the earliest parts). Combat and character building has changed a lot between the different games, but they've mostly been enjoyable.

Why not. It is not like we here cannot seperate "first impression" from "final judgement" and it is interesting to note if one gets to like it more/less when the game continues and if so, why... What I meant was, "I won't be the first one to post first impressions, that's for sure". I have no idea where half that sentence ended up. If you find it, please return it to its rightful owner.

I do wonder why they chose a well known RPG brand to make an action game? Weren't there any other licenses they could use instead? Not that I care, the last Might and Magic I enjoyed was.. uh.. Might and Magic 8 now that I think about it (I thought it was Might and Magic 6). ANYHOW.. It's looking good so far and since it's made by the guys behind Arx Fatalis (very decent RPG) I'll give it the benefit of a doubt.

I think I gave Morrowind 8/10 when I reviewed it a billion years ago :'( The damn game fooled me. It kept me thinking "Soon it'll get better, soon the good bits will start" but it never did. It trudged on until it suddenly ended without even a cut-scene as consolation. Gaah, stupid game makes me angry even now!
