  1. Oh, what a noble cause! Stealing game software, not because you're interested in playing the games for free, oh no, it's because you're trying to prove a point to the mega corporations of the world! May they tremble in fear!
  2. I love how the Codex boys look at themselves as "the rebels of game journalism" or something.. Laughable at best, pathetic at worst. I think Avellone is very funny, but that must be one of the least giving interviews I've ever read. It was more "If you don't agree with me, you didn't understand the question" attitude from the interviewer than anything else. Planescape: Torment is history, get on with your lives, boys! )
  3. I would still recommend Dragon Quest 8: Journey of the Cursed King. It's linear, but in a good way. You have a huge world to explore, by foot, boat, tiger or flying. The combat is really old school (no positioning) and you just take turns beating up on each other. The story is surprisingly well-written with a lovely twist at the end (or actually, both endings, because you get to play through a different ending after you've completed the game once.. a much more satisfying ending).
  4. I've played Vagrant Story too. It's just an endless romp through different dungeons. It has some kind of weird realtime combat where time stops when you press the action button and you get to decide where onyour opponent you want to hit, almost like in Fallout. But it makes the realtime useless, because there's no skill involved and combat becomes a chore of going through menus of which bodypart you want to harm next. I thought it was boring and extremely overrated too.
  5. Left hand on the WASD keys, right hand on the arrow keys. Control speed with left hand, control up/down left/right with right hand. Remember to fold up your landing gear right after take off with the 2-key. Oh, and when you want to manouvre the plane on the ground, steer it left and right with the Q and E keys instead, otherwise you tip the plane. PRACTICE! )

Hey, he's only 36! We got Belfour, remember..
  7. I still don't know what you mean by "Huge ammount of freedom to go where ever you like.". I might be stupid, but that's the single biggest turn-off for me when it comes to the late Final Fantasy games. I hate trudging through artificial corridors in forests, towns, underwater, wherever. What does this new freedom mean? That I am allowed to trudge through whichever corridor in whichever fancy but oh-so-boring area I want? Or are the maps more open with more freedom too? If it's anything like the maps in Dragon Quest 8 (rocking game!) I'm all for it, but if it resembles Final Fantasy X in any way, it's off my interest list.
  8. Always trust a reviewer that gives a game a perfect ten. Really.
  9. "Instead of being just another FPS, this game is focused on realism, based on the Russian front of WW2, a side that's not often the main focus in games." That's almost as good as soil erosion, isn't it? Go go self insight!
  10. lol Oblivion suxxorz lol Dungeons & Dragons: Online tagline roxxorz oh look it's a new shiny FPS with graphix!!1 it's in WW2!!1!1one awesomerzzz!!112421 LOL IRONY

Toronto won one! Still so very far, far away from that last playoff spot, I'm not holding my hopes up. We were relying on two key players this year: Lindros and Allison. Allison has delivered offensively, but his lack of speed shows in his plus/minus. Lindros was great until he got hurt, very predictably. I'm not sure about Sundin. I thought he was.. well.. washed up, on the slide, in the twilight.. But then I saw him play with some good players (for once) in the Olympics and I couldn't see the guy who's only scored 13 goals so far. I saw the old, powerful, respect-inducing Sundin that dominates games. I'm not sure what's up with that. At least we won one. Woo.
  12. I prefer RPG's, but I also like sports games, racing games and adventure games. I'm not fond of platform games and I never play strategy games, mostly because I suck at them. Sometimes a good FPS can capture my attention for a few hours, like Battlefield 2.
  13. "Cyrodil is 16 virtual square miles That's about 140-160% of Morrowind landscape" Source: http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.p...3entry3495763 I don't get it. I am absolutely positive that Morrowind is A LOT bigger than 16 square miles. Boiling Point is 25x25 kilometers in size, but the dwvelopers themselves claim the map is approximately 450 square kilometers (~175 square miles) and Boiling Point is a lot smaller than Morrowind. Somehow this just doesn't add up.
  14. Then it probably is so. That's not very big though, is it? Oh well, scratch Bethesda too from that damn list then! Grr. Edit: I just realized that a game like Boiling Point has ~175 square miles of map. Is it possible that Oblivion is only 16 square miles?! That's absolutely tiny! Smaller than Gothic, even. Where does it say this?
  15. It's only 16x16 miles, you mean? Yeah, they're probably going for the smaller maps too.. but seeing as they started with a map the size of Great Britain (Daggerfall, I don't count Arena) it's not as visible anyhow. I also enjoyed Runaway: A Road Adventure! So did my mom
  16. I've been playing a bit of Thief: Deadly Shadows, but it takes a while to get used to the movement scheme of the main character. He kind of wobbles forward when you walk with him and the entire character feels somewhat sluggish to move around, almost like he is drunk. Other than that and the cramped maps it's quite good. Oh, and why on earth are so many games actually decreasing map-sizes from sequel to sequel? We get faster computers with more memory and even more powerful GPU's.. and still it feels like games only get smaller and smaller. Mad props to Bethesda for going the other way, no matter how sucky their games turn out to be in the end.

There are heavy trade rumours swirling around Bryan McCabe at the moment. Oh yeah, it would be a clever move to trade away the only light in the (seemingly) eternal darkness that is the Toronto Maple Leafs defence.. I really hope these rumours are untrue. Of course, they're also talking about trading Sundin for Datsyuk.. That would be something.

When Russia beat Canada in the Olympics, Malkin and Ovechkin were skating circles around Pronger. Literally. I'm quite used to watching big players (Antropov, Sundin, Lindros, Allison) so I know that big players appear to be moving slower than the small guys even when they're going the same speed, but Pronger really was slow.

I can't understand how Pronger can change from being a star in the NHL to a complete hog on big ice..? It's not that much of a difference.
  21. I bought my Playstation 2 because it was only marginally more expensive than a good DVD-player. Also, my girlfriend wanted to play Kingdom Hearts badly so it was an easy sell. I never imagined myself having so much fun with it as I've actually had. I usually don't like the controllers of any console (mouse+keyboard-slave) but I've been able to learn the Playstation 2 controllers pretty well and now it's almost not a nuisance anymore. I didn't know of any games on the Playstation 2 that I wanted to play prior to getting one, but fortunately I've been blessed with titles such as Dragon Quest 8, Resident Evil 4, God of War since then. I imagine the Playstation 3 will work the same way for me. I probably won't be getting it until 2008 or so, but when (if) Blu-Ray becomes the standard, I'll buy it because of the ability to watch Blu-Ray DVD-movies and play games.
  22. Right back at ya.
  23. Yeah, I went undefeated for like 50+ games in Fight Night Round 2 and gained the title, defended it ten times and was offered different prize fights, but in the end, all I ever did was move sideways, throwing lots and lots of jabs until I wore down my opponent, at which point I'd throw a haymaker (was that the name of the punch?) to knock him out. That worked on ALL opponents.
  24. System Shock 2 is still the scariest game I've ever played. Actually, I think it's the only game that's ever managed to genuinely scare me. It was so bad that I couldn't play for more than ~fifteen minutes at a time because it stressed me out so much..
