Long rant on RPGs and comments on Obsidian
mkreku replied to RPGmasterBoo's topic in Obsidian General
No. That's an expansion, still stuck on the Neverwinter Nights 2 engine. I'm expecting Alpha Protocol and Aliens RPG to be free of such Bioware/D&D imposed limitations. -
Untrue. Criminality is much higher in poor areas of society than in rich areas of society. This is the fact in every city, in every country all over the world. The more a person feels rejected by the society he/she lives in, the easier it is for said person to commit a crime against that society. Most people don't become criminals because they are too lazy to work (which is what you're insinuating), it's because they feel they are being treated unfairly by society and thus doesn't care for society. Rich people could add a few million to their bank accounts by robbing banks too, instead of having to work 12 hours every day. So why don't they?

Custom character, or at least option for female
mkreku replied to Dragonesse01's topic in Computer and Console
You just described every JRPG ever made. -
That's the one! I never found the Dragunov. Another reason for me to play through it again! And yes, I was referring to that tank-mounted gigantic gun when I said quest-related weapon. I could barely turn around when I was using it. Sucked bigtime. Yeah, after Red Forest it turned into Half-Life 2. I didn't like it either. What? Already? I just downloaded 1.5.0.4 a few days ago. Thanks for the tip.

Could you please be any more whiny? You're soon challenging the mighty Morgoth for the whiniest ever. Here's a hint: A thread doesn't interest you? Don't click on it.

I finished Stalker: Clear Sky today. Annoying that I ran through the entire game hoarding 7.62mm ammo but I never found a weapon for it (except a quest related weapon that was impossible to use)! Also, I got hit with a lot of little bugs that weren't game killers but still annoying enough for me to wait for the next patch and a second run through.

Want to know something annoying? My apartment is inside a house owned by "AP Fastigheter", so everytime I walk through the stairwell to my door, I see this big sign that says "AP". And everytime I see it it reminds me of Alpha Protocol. That's how disturbed I am.

Nope, it doesn't. It's just this new internet fad that you have to say "yeah, the graphics suck" at every new game that comes out, as if that would somehow make yourself more important (like some people claim 192kbs MP3 is Youtube quality in the audio circles..). The picture you quoted is taken just before nighttime during bad weather, just before the game goes completely dark. And I really mean dark. I've never seen a game with such a realistic day-and-night cycle before. If you don't have a light during nighttime, you're basically looking at a black screen. I love it. The above was taken during nighttime, using both a flashlight and night vision goggles. Still dark as hell. And scary. During daytime, the game uses HDR lighting, which makes the ground in this picture almost glow from sunlight. During sunrise, everything casts fantastic, realistic shadows. In the background there's an old powerline tower. It's not really visible, but it cast its shadows all over the vast plain. It looked awesome in motion. During sunset, the sky lights up in beautiful colours. Then it goes dark.

"Thompson died at his self-described "fortified compound" known as "Owl Farm" in Woody Creek, Colorado, at 5:42 p.m. on February 20, 2005, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head." Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunter_S._Thompson#Death Great example there, Walsh Ps. It's safe to click on the link. Not a bit of skin to be seen anywhere. Not even a piece of paper folded perversely!

Wasn't taks the guy who once claimed (in another forgotten thread) that my socialist country (Sweden) would crash and burn because all socialist countries do? Well, we're actually doing quite alright, thank you very much. How about you? It might have been roshan too. I can't separate these right wing nutters.

Actually, me and a friend completed that..

I think it takes a certain amount of courage for a developer to kill off a well liked character in a game and not alienate the player. Because that's what I think it takes to move a player. I recently watched Wall-E and in the end . If a developer can make me care about a character in a game, they have the opportunity to move me, either making me sad or happy. Happy is much harder than sad though. Planescape: Torment had one scene where I read the backstory of Fall-From-Grace.. that was pretty powerful.

The PS3 Thread of Butterflies and Lollipops!
mkreku replied to Llyranor's topic in Computer and Console
I wasn't interested in the PS3 at all until I had one at my house and connected it to my 1080p TV.. Now I kind of want one. Somewhat. -
Stalker: Clear Sky looks absolutely amazing. Saying it looks like a Quake 2 mod is beyond dumb.

I am hoping for a little more obscure games before I dive in. Like Redguard.. and Bioforge.. and Ultima Underworld 1 & 2..

King's Bounty: The Legend now released!
mkreku replied to Magister Lajciak's topic in Computer and Console
Oohh, I absolutely loved the original King's Bounty on my Commodore 128 (C64 in disguise)! Did anyone try this yet? I am to busy/lazy to download a demo right now.. -
Hey, if I wanted excitement, I'd be a Caps fan! I just want a hockey team with a clear leader, a big heart and a sense of.. personality. For lack of a better word. Personally I suspect they will both suck and be unexciting to watch. And I secretly hope Sundin will put on his skates again, ignore $20 million from Vancouver (if that still stands?) and lead this new team for just one more season..

Interesting. A remake on the Wii would be a good fit, I think. Especially with the new Plus thingie that's supposed to make the Wiimote more exact.

Yeah.. I think it's too soon. I mean, the guy had 78 points in 74 games last season. It's not like he's playing on old merits or anything. But I remember him from when he was a junior here in Sweden.. he's impossible to deal with and always does go his own ways. When he left to play in the NHL when he was 19, there was some scandal about that too back here in Sweden. There was even talk about banning him from the national team forever! I'm pretty happy that didn't become reality.. I've never felt so.. unengaged about the Leafs before as I feel now. We have no stars, we have no plan, we have no future. It's like a bunch of nonames sitting in limbo, pretending to be a hockey club. Let's hope my enthusiasm returns once the puck drops.

I, like many others here, started in 1982-1983 (can't remember exactly) with a ZX Spectrum 48k. My first encounter with computers were probably arcades, but that's so early I can't even remember it. Anyhow, I scraped together enough cash to buy a Spectrum one summer and the very first game I ever bought was Jetpac. It was awesome. Still is. Back then, games cost from $7 to $22.. so you could actually afford to buy them yourself as a kid. Now the games cost $90+ each in Sweden.. Anyhow, I had a rich friend and when he saw that I had a computer he immediately went out and bought a Commodore 64. Which of course mopped the floor with my poor Spectrum. I still played a lot of games on my Spectrum but no RPG's. In 1985 I switched to a CMB128 (a souped up Commodore 64 that never amounted to anything). The first RPG I remember that got me hooked was Pool of Radiance, but since that was released in 1988 I'm pretty sure I've forgotten some other obscure titles. But Pool of Radiance was special, as me and a friend played together huddled in front of my 14 inch screen. I remember sitting in school daydreaming about the adventures that awaited us when we got home. That game was truly epic. After the Commodore era ended, I lost interest in computer games. I occasionally played on friends computers (stuff like Daggerfall and Fallout), but between 1992 and 2002 I didn't own a computer of my own. In 2002 I bought my first own PC! And here I am.

I wonder if it's a coincidence that Finland has Europe's most lax gun laws?
-
Damn. I was hoping they'd save him. And that he'd be a drooling mental case in a wheelchair for the rest of his pathetic existence.

And since I can't edit my earlier posts.. http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4410101/Ma...Matti_Saari.zip Torrent instead of Rapidshare.

I wonder if this is the limit for alanschu? A company that can "ban" you from playing the game you own if you happen to express an opinion..
