Oh wait, I just saw your price range.. I'd still say: spare your eyes and spend a little extra on the monitor. It's the only part of the computer you'll always be using, no matter what you do. (And no, I can't edit my earlier post..) This instead then: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16824001273 Same monitor, but more gaming oriented and without speakers and the extras. $299.

  3. I need to get me one of those beards.
  4. Five. I counted them. Five. Different. Enemy. Types. Throughout the entire game! That is actually the main flaws of Bioshock: too crappy combat and TOO FEW ENEMIES to be a FPS. Too shallow and no consequences for any choice you make is enough for it to not be a RPG. Too easy, linear and not enough thought involved to be an adventure game. It has all those three ingredients but they're all so weak in their own ways that even though the sum is stronger than its parts, it's just not enough to make it a great game. Still, I finished it.. in under 20 hours.. so it had something. Flair?
  5. http://www.eurogamer.net/tv_video.php?playlist_id=16234 A NEW TRAILER FROM ALAN WAKE. I WILL NOW TYPE IN CAPS FOR THE REST OF THE POST TO EXPRESS MY ANGER TOWARDS THE LAZY FINNS WHO ARE MAKING THIS. TAKE THAT! IT'S STILL VERY HIGH ON MY MOST WANTED LIST.
  6. "sucked" seems a tad harsh. But vastly overrated I agree with. I don't know, I kind of liked the mood and ambience of that teaser.. Not too shabby for something that's just there to let you know it's there.

  8. Good read: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=262157 I basically agree with everything said in the article. Carry on.

Exactly how many second periods do the Oilers play every game?
  10. Trust me, bans are completely ****ing random. It depends on what time of month it is (only applies for female moderators and Walsh), what gender the 'victim' is (only applies for male moderators, aka. White Knight Syndrome) and how close Jupiter flies to Saturn. Or whatever. Xard probably posted a picture of a wrongfully folded piece of paper on the wrong day, or something equally horrible.
  11. I must say it looks surprisingly good for a straight-on FPS. http://www.gametrailers.com/player/41596.html Very varied, cinematic and action-packed. And none of those huge-bodies-with-tiny-heads characters from Gears of War! I'm mildly impressed.
  12. And make them rare! Make it so you actually have to work to complete a level! Make it so that when you finally find a health kit you'll feel ecstatic!

Great game between Washington - Pittsburgh tonight. Ovechkin may not be getting any points right now, but damn is he dominating physically! I almost felt sorry for Malkin who received most of the pain. I have no idea why but I guess Malkin said something nasty to Ovechkin.. in Russian.
  14. I waited six months before I finally installed Gothic 3. I even had it on pre-order.. It wasn't long enough.
  15. Yes, you definitely CAN expect better! Six weeks, and you're still happy about it? You don't mind that Microsoft sold you a flawed console (which they 'might' have known about beforehand, something which the trial will address) even though you actually ended up with the claimed flaw AND had to wait six weeks for something that should not be broken at all? If you had gotten a 'normal' error and Microsoft had fixed it for free, THAT would have been great customer service. But this is something else. The only reason it is free is because they know they have a problem and spent $1 billion to get away from class action suits! Every other repair they do is dead expensive. I can't believe what you guys are willing to accept..
  16. And obsessively drinking ten times out of every water fountain.
  17. For once I agree with Kaftan. Although I also immensely enjoyed the original STALKER. Just a warning: after Red Forest the game turns into a weaker clone of Half-Life 2 so do all your free-roaming before moving on from there. One thing I don't get though.. Everyone claims that enemies see you as easily in darkness as in light. But I've been able to sneak up on enemies in total darkness (meaning flashlight OFF) and knife them. Just install nightvision goggles and creep around silently. Try that in daylight..
  18. OK, now I've gotten a bit into World of Goo. It's a fantastic game. I absolutely love the visual style and the presentation! Oh, and the physics based gameplay really works. But the controls.. You always start with this cramped little building block where a billion little balls of goo are rolling around.. and you're supposed to click on the right ball at the right time.. except it doesn't really matter where you place your mouse pointer because the game has some kind of auto-lock on the 'nearest' goo.. So nine times out of ten you'll end up clicking the wrong goo ball when the going gets tough. Also, sometimes you need to strengthen your goo-buildings and place a crossbeam somewhere.. but the game won't let you as the goo balls make the entire structure wiggle and the game doesn't allow you to manually place your goo balls where you want them. You have to hover your goo ball over the EXACT pixel where the game thinks that crossbeam should be. Often, the goo ball starts flickering between several different types of available constructs and it's a guessing game which one you'll get. Most often you get the wrong one. And then you have to remove the goo ball (if it's even possible!), but you can't because it's instantly covered with other rolling goo balls that take precedent to your mouse pointer because of the auto lock.. So yeah, I've been having a wonderful time with World of Goo, but the controls ARE frustrating.
  19. I cooked an Italian dinner for some of my best friends tonight. Unfortunately, one of them has a big exam coming up on Friday and I am feeling a cold coming on so we didn't even open the bottle of wine my cousin had brought. But the food was delicious and I fully expect everyone to call me Master Chef from now on.

  21. The Deus Ex is strong with this one.
  22. Amazing how you can turn a RPG into a FPS just by changing the combat from turn based to real time, huh? Apparently combat is all that matters to you H4RDC0RE RPG'ers.
  23. I just bought World of Goo. Downloading it now.. 30KB/s.. Heard a lot of great things about it and since it was only $20 I took a chance. Let's hope it's good. Uh, OK, so I am technically not playing it yet.. but I will!
