  1. Gee, I'm glad there are no stalkers on this board.
  2. I don't have this problem at all. Maybe the mouse pointer is tied somehow to the performance of the game? Because I am amazed at just how smooth Far Cry 2 is on my computer, and that includes mouse aiming and menus.
  3. One thing in Far Cry 2 that bothers me on another level is how there are no civilians. I know it's been mentioned before, but the thing that bothers me in the game about it is that whenever I travel a road, I usually travel in some sort of jeep with a mounted weapon. As soon as I see another vehicle (or anything else moving, for that matter), I instantly press C (to switch from driver's seat to said weapon) and start firing. Often times it's a civilian, tiny car with no weapons and only a driver in it. So I have to sit here and watch my mounted cannon rip the car and driver to shreds until the lifeless, bloody corpse falls out of the blown off car door. I don't know, but it sickens me. Why couldn't they have made at least THOSE vehicles non-aggressive?! If you don't do as I just described, you can bet your ass that same lonely, defenceless driver will follow you to the end of the world to try to kill you! EVERY TIME! Every human being you meet in the game has to die. There are no options.
  4. My father bought an Acer Aspire One 150 (the blue model). He's a mine worker. His hands look like "dasslock" (in Swedish). They're huuuge. But even he says he doesn't have any problems typing on it. I guess they did something right with those little thingies.
  5. So you've had your posters framed and a clean desk..? Pfft, you're not even a real nerd.
  6. Daggerfall had a demo..
  7. OK, so I read this pre-order statement and it raised an eyebrow. Isn't Morgoth the same guy who's been whining about Fallout 3 (and pretty much everything else on this board)? So I did a quick search. Nine days ago you "lost all your (little) interest" in the game and now you have it on pre-order? F-ing hilarious.
  8. Hmm, I've reached a decision in the game and I don't know what to do. If I was able to name my save files (a feature most PC GAMES have), I'd be able to save before the decision and try which path suits me best. Now I know I'll lose the "Before" file sooner or later due to player incompetence with these generic file names
  9. One moderator-and-word-filter-free day of the week! Make it Sunday. That should piss off a few fundies.

Woo, third win of the season! I wouldn't care unless there had been rumours flying around that Sundin has been very impressed with the young Leafs and the way the coach has them playing hockey! They're saying he's off to somewhere to get himself in shape and then perhaps rejoin the Leafs! That would be awesome. Right now they lack heart, leadership and someone who can score a bunch. Go Sundin!
  11. Grinding is only called grinding if combat is boring.
  12. Doesn't exactly excuse it though, does it? I agree, the controls are smooth and precise. I still would want my own keys, thankyouverymuch. I also agree on the savepoints (another rather obvious sign this is a console port). At first I really thought I had to save at savepoints and went into one and slept as short as possible time in the bed to get that "Continue and save" prompt. And I read the manual, trying to figure out why there's even a quicksave if you have to use savepoints anyhow. Then I tried quicksaving at random and instantly loading the game.. and found out you can save anytime, anywhere! Talk about inconsistent! "You unlocked a new safehouse. You can now save your game here!". Whoop-dee-doo! Now I can save the game in yet another one of a gazillion places that I could save in before! I love Far Cry 2, don't get me wrong. It's exactly the type of game I enjoy playing. Very rewarding combat, amazing vistas to explore, some RPG features (would have liked more though), interesting and mature story, vehicles (although I can't get to grips with the hang-glider). I just wouldn't call it perfect.
  13. This did not end well. Nooo, I accidentally ran over the poor zebra with my car. Me and the zebras didn't get along today. What happens when you check your map while driving.
  14. Been playing some more now and it's becoming even more obvious that this is a console port. Did anyone try to reconfigure a few keys? GOOD LUCK WITH THAT. I usually play with F as my interact button (default in Far Cry 2 is E) so I changed every possible E to F. Except.. the game STILL forces me to use E occasionally. Like when I am using a stationary weapon. I use F to enter/exit vehicles and I use F to 'enter' stationary weapons.. but to exit I have to press E. Annoying. Same with the weapons mounted on cars.. E E E. About the respawning checkpoints.. Why not just put a simple timer on each spawnpoint after it's been cleared? Just let 2-3 in-game hours pass before more soldiers appear. More realistic, less annoying for the player. Who makes these kind of respawn design decisions anyway?! I finally found the assassination missions (made a mistake the first time I went up to one of those towers which made me think the towers would be part of some larger quest later..). THEY are repetitive and I can't believe they're even counted as "side missions". It's just a NPC model semi-randomly placed in the world along with the exact same message about you having to assassinate the opportune target. Good way of earning easy diamonds, bad that they didn't even bother trying to write some sort of story/character for each assassination. Why is it that every person in the Far Cry 2 world who sees me immediately considers me their arch enemy? I mean, I'm just driving down the road and happen to pass some soldiers in a village a few hundred meters away.. But they immediately open fire at me and when I try to speed away, they jump into their ridiculously fast cars (three times as fast as my own car, even though they are the same model..) and chase me to the end of the world. Just for laying eyes on me?! I got the camo suit too. Let's just say, I still haven't managed to finish a single mission completely stealthy. I'm still liking the game though! It's hard to put down and that's always a good sign.
  15. Ok, I bought Far Cry 2 today. Been playing it basically all day since getting it. I like it so far, but the respawn really is ridiculous (on medium difficulty). I took my car, drove in the direction of a mission, fought a bunch of soldiers at a checkpoint, drove perhaps 200 meters past the checkpoint, realized I was going the wrong way, turned around.. and had to fight the same 4-8 people again! They were still standing on the bodies of their former incarnations.. But the engine is fantastic! I have everything on max (except Shadows) and 1280x1024 and the game averages 60 fps. No stutters EVER! That's really surprising in an open-ended world like this. But it does feel a bit consolish. All these collecting things, what's up with that? Collect diamonds, sure, but collecting scouted checkpoints?! Makes this otherwise pretty realistic game feel a bit too gamey for me. I've only done a couple of missions so far (unlocking weapons mainly) so it isn't repetitive to me yet. My only gripe so far would actually be the respawns. I kind of like the weapons breaking down and stuff.. I had a AK just fall apart in my hand once. That was pretty cool. Did anyone buy the camo suit? I don't have enough diamonds yet to try it myself. Looking forward to it. And I love the Dragunov! The sound for that weapon is really good in this game. Powerful. Oh, and I am playing a tiny Chinese guy with lots of tattoos. My best friend is Warren Clyde and my second best friend is some grey-haired war hero with a Baltic name I forgot.
  16. If we're allowed to post PM's, I have a collection of angry moderator PM's in my inbox.. which is constantly full since this board has a limit of 50 PM's. Stupid limit really, even my cell phone can contain more text than my inbox!

Woo.. Second Leaf win of the season.. I'm so excited.. zzz.
  18. I absolutely loved King's Bounty on my old Commodore 64, but for some reason I just can't seem to find the energy to be excited by this new version.. Even though I think the screenshots look awesome. Odd.
  19. I mostly remember Puskas and the fantastic football team Hungary had at that time. Ferenc Puskas is still considered one of the greatest football players that ever lived. Not only was he great, he was fat and ugly too, a total hero in my eyes :D I wonder how many titles (World Cup and Olympics) that great Hungarian team would have won if it hadn't been for the uprising? [url="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferenc_Pusk
  20. But I don't want OK. I want mind-blowing. Or at least STALKER-esque awesomeness. I didn't get it today. Maybe tomorrow.
  21. Not sure if this is a new video (since I haven't watched the others before this) but it was posted yesterday so I hope it's new: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/rpg/dragon...umballs;title;1 It's nine minutes long so all you Bioweenies should feel happy.
  22. Well, I read that the respawns in some checkpoints get annoying very quick since you have to travel the same roads and kill the same enemies every five minutes. I also read that the story suffers from being so open and quick to adjust to the player's actions (not really a bad thing to me.. all I really need to know is that I'm supposed to hunt the Jackal). Some people are complaining about the weapons that keep breaking. This WAS a problem to me in System Shock 2 (since they broke down before you could empty a single clip, almost), but if you can fire your weapon a realistic amount of times (1000 rounds?) before them becoming a nuisance, it's quite OK. Someone complained about the PC version feeling like a console port. I really hope this is not true. Another complained about shadows being broken (as in unrealistically tough for the system on anything above Medium settings). I don't care about that. I can't remember anything else off the bat.
  23. How is it? I'm strongly considering buying this tomorrow (when it's released here in Sweden). I've heard some worrying reviews and some encouraging ones so I can't make up my mind yet. Wish there was a demo! Why can't all games have a demo?!
  24. Argh, I still can't edit! But I also noticed that Newegg has a $30 mail-in rebate on the last monitor I suggested. That would take it down to $270! Not bad at all for a monitor of that size, quality and design.
  25. Oh wait, I just saw your price range.. I'd still say: spare your eyes and spend a little extra on the monitor. It's the only part of the computer you'll always be using, no matter what you do. (And no, I can't edit my earlier post..) This instead then: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16824001273 Same monitor, but more gaming oriented and without speakers and the extras. $299.
