I was discussing RPG's somewhere and Two Worlds entered the conversation (because Two Worlds 2 has just been announced), and I remembered how I tried to like that game but gave up fairly quickly and just abandoned it. Well, I reinstalled it last night and to my huge surprise I'm actually enjoying it this time! I mean, the voice actors are still horrible (and I'm pretty lenient when it comes to stuff like that), the entire game feels a bit.. how to describe it.. jittery. When you move, when you fight, when you open menu's.. everything comes with a weird feeling of un-exactness. But I can live with that too. The world is huge (just as I like it), there are horses to ride, dungeons to explore, bundles of quests to solve, plenty of challenging fighting to be done, dozens of armour sets to collect and the main story isn't at all as bad as I remembered it. The last time I tried it, the game had no patches and was at version 1.0. Now it's had seven patches and I'm playing the 1.7b version. A lot has changed for the better. It's much more balanced (no more combining weapons until they one-hit kills everything in the game), stuff actually costs money now (so you can't abuse the stores) and it feels more polished. Also, the last time I tried it, it wasn't exactly optimal for my system. It was a very hardware demanding game for its time, but now I'm able to run it with everything on max (including several kilometers of viewing distance and 8x AA) and 1920x1080 resolution. Unfortunately there's no vsync option in the game, although I can force that through Catalyst. For some reason, I remember the game as being unfocused. I could never separate the main quests from the side quests and I got distracted from the story to the point where I just did quests for the sake of doing quests and not to be able to continue the story. I don't have that problem now, but I don't know what's changed. Me or the game? Anyhow, it's a flawed game, but oddly enjoyable.

In 1987. It's called Wasteland.

At least I can trust my Leafs to continue to suck while YOUR teams are being inconsistent!

Don't ever get Dirt 2 from Steam then. Yesterday when I was going to play it, it automatically downloaded a gigantic (close to a GB or something) patch. Since Steams servers aren't exactly the fastest in the world, I had to wait for an HOUR for it to download. By the time I had gotten it, I didn't want to play Dirt 2 anymore :/

I had no idea Nvidia had humour. I am impressed. (You may need to know a bit about Nvidia's history to find this video funny)

Yes, everytime there's a cut-scene actually. I think it's some kind of filter that's not working properly. Perhaps they went for a "grainy movie" kind of filter effect, but on my Radeon 5870 it looks more like a graphical error.

God, I love games where guns feel powerful. And the driving looks great too! Fantastic trailer.

Aaiih, I am still playing it! I've found so many weird and wonderful things! It's so overwhelming! And it's only like 3% of the entire game!! AAIIHH!!

Kirottu's joke was that Kor should have come to us first for advice, not the local newspaper. Which makes it even more funny that Hurlshot missed the joke and immediately writes (in the same post) that we are here for you..

Like I predicted. Hilarious. Read what you just wrote and try to apply some of that critical thinking of yours on any aspect of Fallouts gameworld and you'll see that this food thing is just yet another of the grasping-at-straws to find yet another thing where Fallout 3 must suck in comparison to the older games.

Reminder that India from 1947-1991 was pretty socialist
mkreku replied to lord of flies's topic in Way Off-Topic
Oh really? When have I appealed to the history of India under Nehru? Oh yes, that'd be never. Therefore, either you're a blatant liar, have serious hallucinations, or didn't even read the thread title. Which one is it? I'm a blatant liar who hallucinates and I haven't spent much time reading anything you've written lately since it all kinda sounds the same. In fact it all is the same. I don't think you have ever had an original thought. At least he contributes with some funny threads. What do you do except for whine and cry in his threads? -
Seriously, I am addicted to those 30 minute sessions now. I've been playing it over and over all evening! The area you're allowed to explore is huge.. but it's such a tiny part of the entire map!! Unbelievably big game! Those 30 minutes are just enough to complete a mission, but I do wish you'd be able to play for as long as you wanted. I would love to just explore the land at my own pace. Is it wrong of me to hope for a "crack" (removing the time limit) for this demo..? I mean, I have the game on pre-order already, but it's three weeks until it's released! A time limit remover wouldn't be so bad, would it? :/

Do you also care for where all the people you kill in games live? I mean, the Gothic games had one bed for every person in the game! Can you say that for any of the Fallouts? It is cool, yes, but does it really matter? I would not have thought less of Gothic if there had been a few beds missing, just as I don't give a **** where they got the food in Fallout 3. Feel free to tell me exactly how this unexplained food problem distracts from your enjoyment of the game, Tigranes. It should make for some entertaining reading. You know, most people think of things like non-flying cows.. or basic laws of nature being consistent for everything in the game. That is when "verisimilitude" comes into effect, although I would simply call it believability.

Who gives a **** if you know where the virtual food comes from in your virtual game world? Does that in any way affect your enjoyment of the game?
-
Ok, so I downloaded the demo off of Steam and played the 30 minutes that you're allowed to play per session. Those were the best 30 minutes of mindless destruction I have ever played. This game is now on pre-order. (also, it runs extremely well on my 5870, with everything on max and 1920x180 resolution)

I haven't checked lately, but a while ago it seemed the developers were spending all their board updates on the Bethesda board, answering questions like "what is your favourite pokemon". Much more interesting than actually having to answer real questions, apparently.

This game fell completely off my radar for some reason. I need to buy it soon..ish.

This is trending on Twitter, but it's so good I'll post it anyhow:

I hope they're not forcing any companions upon us. I much prefer to wander the wastelands alone.
-
No. Put it in your Xbox 360 and see if it blows up.
-
I was hoping for a much larger world. Damn.

? Probably Gamasutra misquoting him - he most likely said '88 and the reporter got it wrong.. who would say "belive it or not" if he was referring to 1998? Exactly, I've had erections lasting longer than THAT.

Not a huge surprise, really. They looked mediocre and were rightly eliminated by a much more efficient Slovakia. I'm much more surprised by the final score in the Canada - Russia game! I had thought it would be a war, with Crosby and Ovechkin going head to head. But they were both practically invisible and Canada outplayed Russia so badly it wasn't even funny.. to watch.
-
Woah, Swedish television is showing some of the hits Canada has gotten away with during the game! Morrow took EIGHT strides before one of his hits!! That's insane, but charging is apparently not known to NHL referees. I love a physical game as much as the next man, but that's way over the line. It's dangerous and unnecessary.
-
Fantastic first period by the Canadians! They're outplaying the Russians in every aspect! I even saw Crosby win a physical battle against Ovechkin! Also 4-1?! Did Canada kill the game already? It's only the first period and I've been planning an all-nighter for this, damnit!
