Recovering from two days of hardcore, deliriously feverish manflu, even my hair follicles ache

Still playing Oblivion, it's weird coming back to Cyrodiil after three or four years but I'm appreciating things I'd grown to hate, the copypasta dungeons are actually very well designed (considering the limits of the tileset) and it's great to feel like I'm lost two miles underground again, I just wish Bethesda could have put more story into them.

Mehhhhhhhhh.

I honestly can't remember, I was never specifically into RPGs, point and click adventures and action games were my thing, nevertheless I played lots of them on my Amiga and later the PC, stuff like Dungeon Master, Eye of The Beholder, Faery Tale Adventure and Bard's Tale, but I never completed any. The first RPG to really grab me by the balls was Oblivion and later Fallout 3...a badge of shame in hardcore circles but I wear it proudly, those games opened my eyes and I ended up playing stuff like Fallout 1&2, PS:T and VTM: Bloodlines, I gained an appreciation for storytelling and game mechanics, which set me up nicely for when New Vegas was released

Feargus Urquhart & Ray Muzyka at D.I.C.E (Video)

So the talk was about the monetisation and social media integration of RPGs?.. -
It's looking good, still glad I backed it.

That started to annoy me in the main game, NPCs spew lore as soon as you wander within range, mods can tone down the radius but I prefer the Oblivion method where they just say hello and save the background stuff until you ask, maybe someone's made a mod for that too?
-
Oblivion with Francesco's mod, distant objects and a load of minor tweaks, it's still pretty, still derpy, still a lot of fun
-
I'm betting it'll be open world in the same way as most Zelda games and not the excessively open world of an Elder Scrolls game, either way I'm interested.

I stopped having carbonated drinks years ago and moved on to non concentrated fruit juices, neither of them have been very kind to my teeth so in the last few months I've started drinking water and organic cordials, no idea if I'm getting health benefits but it's too early to judge, I'm still hooked on tea and coffee though
-
I'm having an early drink and listening to loud music, Queen were freaking talent monsters in the 70's, the nuances drive me mad, musically speaking I'm at the stage where I can hear everything they're doing but can't imagine I'll ever learn how to put it all together with such expertise...bastards

Ended up abandoning New Vegas, I spent a few evenings obsessing over mods and lost the urge to play along the way, this happens more often than I'd like with Bethesda type games. *edit* Dragonborn is on my list of things to get but after almost a year I'm still burnt out on Skyrim, I played it too much, I totally get how Asians die doing that ****, I'll wait for all the DLC to come out and sweep them up in a sale

To be honest Redesigned leaves me a bit cold unless I tinker with it a fair bit... too many changes veer toward making every girl a bimbo and every guy a grizzled bearded dude. I was particularly disappointed with some changes to people such as No-bark Noonan. I'd agree that the aesthetics version is overkill, it really does ruin a lot of characters but the lore version is fine, there are so many downright alien/uncanny faces in vanilla that I can live with a few changes I don't like.

I ran out of steam with NWN2 after reaching Neverwinter, I just wasn't having fun with the combat so I shelved it, one day I'll go back and blitz it on a lower difficulty so I can experience the expansions without a guilty conscience.

Spent the last few nights meaning to get into New Vegas but ended up fiddling with mods, then the weekend hit and now I'm over at my mum's, family comes first but there's a nugget of my brain that can't wait to get home and finally start playing. New Vegas Redesigned and Outside Bets are the major changes to my usual selection, I'm happy with the improved faces and it's really nice to see the jets of water back at Hoover Dam, I just hope stability hasn't taken a hit.
-
I'm Installing New Vegas as a reward for making it through some ****ty times without completely cracking, I'm going to try some of the restored content and maybe the mod that de-uglies some of the stranger looking faces, I'm just praying it doesn't devolve into a crash fest, my last playthrough was rock solid which I assume was due in part to all the stuff Obsidian patched out.

I'd have been interested, but then I think I must be susceptible to the subliminal brainwashing in Bethesda's games

I'm back home, Dad's funeral was about as good as any funeral could be, me and my brothers conducted the whole service and we did well, I know my dad would have been proud so that's about as much as I could ask from such a ****ed up day. That's exactly how I've been feeling this last couple of weeks, in fact it was part of my funeral speech for dad, death feels quite unreal, sorry about your friend
-
I'm sitting at my mum's again, dad's funeral is tomorrow and sleep feels like an impossibility, I've written my mini speech and it was less trouble than I thought but I blurted quite a bit when I read it back, on the bright side my cheap suit fits well and looks good

My cat is 19, but she isn't doing too well. Still miss her sister who vanished nearly 10 years ago :/ And sitll feel that nagging guild that I should not have let her out, should have searched more etc It's hard not to blame yourself when anyone or anything dies, I remember giving my cat some flea drops a few days before she died, she was infested and I figured it was worth the risk but I'll never know for sure...just gotta suck it up and accept that not everything is under your control.

Because an "I don't give a ****" option doesn't actually help them make a decision.- 112 replies

Chris Avellone Plays Arcanum
WDeranged replied to Adam Brennecke's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
I vote for youtube letsplay but 10min chunks are slightly on the short side, 15-20 mins would be closer to what people are used to these days.- 112 replies

Not currently playing anything, I haven't been able to properly play a game for months because of recent events in my life but I keep thinking about what games I'd love to play again, strangely enough I've got a real craving to install Oblivion, I put that game to bed three years ago and I know what hell awaits but I can't shake the desire

Sorry to hear that Hurlshot, my old cat died a few years ago, she was 20 and had more life than most cats but her death was quite messy, I still miss her now and then

Speaking of plumbing, a part in my toilet has failed and it keeps over flowing, got no water or heating till the plumber arrives
