This game keeps handing my ass to me, If I hadn't recruited Angela and dropped on a few lucky loot drops to upgrade my team's weapons I'd be totally screwed, I also picked up Ralphy to use as cannon fodder but whenever I face more than a couple of tougher enemies I get slaughtered

Yeah Dragonborn is a little slice of win, loads of variety and quirkiness. Not so crazy about Dawnguard's writing but the quests and locations are good...still can't give myself a convincing reason to join the vampires though. As much as I can moan about the lack of interesting writing in Skyrim they used a ton of apocryphal works to construct the world, a dev once said Kirkbride's fingerprints are all over it. The world of Skyrim is gloriously realised compared to the rape of Cyrodiil seen in Oblivion.

I've been an obsessive Skyrim player (800 hours since release) so I've had plenty of time to polish my glittering gems of hate. Linear Dungeons - Morrowind and Oblivion dungeons almost always had multiple routes, very often a side tunnel or hidden door in Skyrim only leads to loot. No Acrobatics or Athletics - It's fair to say that these were overpowered in previous games but their removal has encouraged linear dungeon design Lazy Lore - Morrowind had interestingly conflicted back stories to dig into, even Oblivion's antagonist was more fleshed out than Alduin and his Dragon Cult. Boring Guilds - Morrowind's Guilds were full of character, Oblivion's had great quests but Skyrim's are too short and often lacking inspiration. Intrusive Quests - The developers were so worried you'd miss their content that they force dozens and dozens of quests on you. Lack of Suspense - Morrowind and even Oblivion had haunting moments that stuck with you, Skyrim is all Nord bravado. Lack of Humour - Previous games had a ton of quirky characters and dark humour, at first I welcomed the more serious tone but it drags after a while. Lack of Bat**** Crazy - Michael Kirkbride's psychosexual mythic ramblings were a major part of the world for me. Repetitive NPCs - All games suffer this but Skyrim's constant exposition dump from passing NPCs is overkill. I still love it though

Happy bday Mr A

I'm going on holiday tomorrow and my laptop won't do it justice so I'll leave this as a treat for when I get back. Glad to see the game getting good reviews though, extremely glad the risk paid off

I was just wondering if I have a death fixation and then I hear this...gah, sad day.

Britain thanks inventor of videotape

The idea that mages actually corrupted heaven always appealed to me in the first game, I hope they do it right.

Finished the first episode of The Wolf Among Us and really enjoyed it, I've no problem with point and click adventures evolving this way but if I had to be critical I'd say it needs more object puzzles. Otherwise Skyrim proves that it's still capable of keeping me up way too late, after 600 gameplay hours since the game came out I'm still finding dozens of locations I've never entered

Been nuts deep in Skyrim again, trying out some of the "hardcore mode" mods like Frostfall and iNeed, the sense of realism is greatly improved. I also picked up The Wolf Among Us, it seems really good so far and will definitely keep me going till Walking Dead season 2 is finished.

Cashed in House's chips. Resisted the urge to let Kimball die. And booted the Legion out of the Mojave.

Felt a bit burnt out on New Vegas after 110 hours so I skipped Lonesome Road and ran straight to the finish line. I managed to do a few things I'd not done before along with a crapload of other stuff, it's fun getting the Enclave and BoS to help out at the dam. Ending slides were satisfying, shame about Arcade and Veronica though, good intentions and all that... I even sat through the credits

First time I've seen anyone try claiming that "know-how" developed at a company is owned by a company. It's rather like Walmart suing a sales technician who moves to selling petrol for Shell because they learned to use a till at Walmart, and it is a recipe for professional slavery. (And I don't even particularly like Oculus or Carmack, I even found doom/ quake etc boring) Gotta claw back some of that TES-O budget somehow

Funny I had it the other way around, liked it first time - but stopped playing New Vegas this time all together an hour or so into Old World Blues. But yeah, it's pretty Venture Bros - especially with James Urbaniak's/Dr. Venture's Voice. Maybe it was just my mood but OWB's plot felt meaningless after the gravity of DM and HH. This time around I'm just going with it, and I never had any complaints with the location, it's packed with interesting stuff. At times Skyrim is the most relaxing game I've played, I do wish the lore was a smidge more compelling and it could have handled skills better but I've put more hours into it than any other game. I remember the first time I saw the aurora borealis over Solitude

I'm currently slithering around Big-MT on my **** tipped feet. I found the humour a bit jarring last time but after watching every episode of Venture Bros I've warmed to it, with the amount of stuff to do it probably is the best DLC of both Bethesda published games, Honest Hearts is still beautiful and elegant though.

Purified Zion of the White Leg scum and broke Daniel's Mormon heart by turning the Sorrows into a warlike people, Salt-Upon-Wounds begged for his life...BEGGED!
-
The ending song to Walking Dead definitely yanked at the place tears come from, no tears but the impulse was definitely there.

Trying to enjoy Honest Hearts but I'm getting lots of crashes, having really bad luck in general with crashes this time around I think the only people to get good value from that game are youtubers, watching people try it was pretty amusing.

Yeah, I see that I won't be playing the game twice I haven't bought the game yet but If it's like the show I'd probably come back to it in a few years and enjoy it all over again.

Feeling pretty bummed, yesterday morning I took my mum to the hospital for an angiogram, I was hoping they'd be able to put some stents in but it turns out the blockages are too bad, she's been told another bypass might be too risky so right now we're in the dark until she gets a CT scan A friend's mother died a few weeks ago so that will be colouring my emotions but I can't shake the sense of dread, my horoscope says I'll find a reason to be less cynical today...can't help but feel cynical about that too

A listless Saturday, the highlight of which was taking my new phone back to the store because of a faulty camera only to find the replacement has some kind of screen defect...first world problems eh?
