Nonsense, the spirit stuff will save the potentially more interesting human conflicts by making it seem that BW didn't develop them enough. Instead of making a game centered around political intrigue and coming up short, basically BW needs to shift between two storylines to keep the focus moving so that their thin story isn't put to scrutiny. It has been that way since BG. Also, Volo is saying "No" a lot recently and it's just that; no elaboration. I think his spring is loosening who was supposed to keep him winded? Makes as much sense as repeating the same tired stuff from the other side of the fence tbh. I know I don't get wound up because of them, for one.

Interesting diet choice, this is like the Caveman diet? Basically you only eat things that Cavemen would have eaten, so nothing processed or artificial Well, he is a bit of a Neanderthal, isn't he?

Hurlshot next time you are there ask the Russian doctors what they think about the situation in Crimea, I am interested to hear what educated Russians think about there countries foreign policy decisions I'm sure they'd love to talk about it. Not.

I agree with this. I think my problem with rogues is that devs always try to make them as effective in combat as fighters, rather than giving them fun rogue stuff to do outside of combat. The Quest For Glory series has had the best class implementation in games IMO. That's just because RPGs consist of 99 % combat. I can't even remember the last time rogues had an actual impact on the game apart from a few cosmetic locks and traps. Baldur's gate 1-2, where the cosmetic traps were a bigger deal? -

I like this idea, but unfortunately it's handled terribly in the games that have tried—by encouraging save scumming and metagaming, mostly. You rarely ever get in-game hints that you are going to be in over your head and that it would be wise to turn around... it's just a quick death followed by a sense of "wha?" → reload. True. Going to be interesting to see how Bioware tackles this in DAI, as it's been one of their key selling points. -
Pool of Radiance did have some in-game translations from Dethek and Espruar as well.

Good choice, Melk and GhostofAnakin gave me some good tips when I first played AP last year . Its a very entertaining game I play it every 9-12 months... I always set out to play a certain type of character, like I do in games usually, but with AP, I always wind up making the same "backbone" choices instead... Maybe this time!

Obsidian peaked with Alpha Protocol. -
I was planning on starting alpha protocol today, but I got two vaccinations so am instead zoning here with a metallic taste in my mouth and a slight fever. So, Alpha protocol is what U'll hopefully be playing tomorrow

As usual, I got either ADHD'd or changed my mind in the middle of a post and can't edit it any longer, but yes, the cave floors in DAO have actual threedimensionality.

So, I realised I was just one trophy away from having a Platinum on PS3 DAO (I was bedridden for a few months when it came out, so my initial playthroughs were on the console) and decided to get my rogue to level 20... Having just played DA2 I had a good opportunity to compare the two. DAO is, absurdly, the better looking of the two, frankly I hadn't really noticed how disastrous DA2's art direction is. Also DA2 is a game of flat floors and ground with a few stairs thrown in, when the caves - and yes, there are several caves in DAO as opposed to the... two? in DA2. So yeah, level Design DAO 100 - 0 DA2. However, character progression and combat in DAO are, IMO, both disasters. DAO combat is like that Finnish extreme sport, swamp soccer, in comparison to the real one of DA2. The characters also just have too many abilities in DAO with minimal differentation between them. Also, the DAO DLCs are SHORT. DA2 DLC represent the best missions of the game (IMHO, of course) and are of what I'd consider ~ideal length (vs. Amgarrak and Witch Hunt). Also, I'm a bit confoozled about the relative chronology of the two games. Early DAO -> DA2 Intro -> rest of DAO + Awakening -> rest of DA2... but when does witch hunt take place? The references to the Warden's disappearance might suggest that it takes place around the end of DA2, but...

Isn't this exactly what Emperor Hudson said about ME3? Yeah... Guess it'll be just like DAO, but the binary choices are going to be really REALLY different!!1

Thanks for clarifying. Do you have any specifics on which types of equipment are currently not compatible? I'm curious as I did read something about the artillery being predominantly Russian and a preponderance of the Russian BUK-M1 air defense systems (which were being replaced by a Norwegian designed system iirc). BUKs have been phased out and replaced with the NASAMS variant of SL-AMRAAMs. There's debate whether this was done simply to advance STANAG compatibility or because Russians have an effective way of jamming their own tech - apparently some Russians were downed with a Georgian BUK during that conflict, but the fact of the matter is the BUK is out. On paper, NASAMS is inferior to BUK, but certainly prettier and less loud. And I'm out of wartime a job. And moving from "know" to "think", probably the biggest issue is the Finnish use of 7,62x39mm sov block weaponry, apparently it's better in a heavily forested environment than the NATO rounds, also the mainstay ARs of the Finnish Army accept standard russian mags (but not vice versa), which is... convenient. True that because it no longer has the benefit of being launched from a high-flying, high speed aircraft the SL-AMRAAM has less range than the far larger SA-11, it is better suited for a hasty defense scenario than the SA-11. As the AMRAAM and its variations are active radar homing as opposed to the SA-11's semi-active radar homing, it is far less susceptible to DEAD weapons and tactics, as once the missile Pitbulls, the launching vehicle and accompanying search and track radar are free to shut down their radars and reposition. In contrast, either the TAR or the TELAR of the SA-11 must track and illuminate the target throughout the missile's flight, so if for instance when these systems are emitting and are damaged or destroyed by a HARM or cluster bomb, the missile is rendered useless. Thanks for the clarification. Guess there was a reason why they just let me stand next to them.

What? Reference to an old poster in these forums who was more than happy to do that with DA2 Yeah, I remember that, I just found that thrown at yours truly a bit surprising. I'm not sure I still have 300 hours in it, tbh. Maybe that's why I like it. :D
