  1. Pretty much that. Funny to think a mere forum mod can have that kind of power, heh. AFAIK, all people with banning privileges are EA staff - certainly that is the way on the Bio boards.
  2. I'd say PCs days are numbered because not even AAA developers bother to do anything except crappy port (even when Steam would suggest over 1 million units sold). Thus we're playing console games on PC that might have bit improved graphical options (but certainly not take full advantage from DirectX10 or 11) but with sub-optimal UI. Heck, people start to buy console controllers for the PC (even for FPS) because games are that badly designed or optimized for the PC. That's like nightmare scenario for me because my main problems with consoles are not consoles per se, but lack of mouse + keyboard support (from game mechanics to difficulty settings) and too long hardware generation cycles. I hear, say, DXHR and BF3 are quite a bit better on the PC... Sure, I guess in both cases you could put it down to already building an engine for the next console generation (less so in DXHR's part), but let's scale back to apocalyptic mentality just a bit.
  3. I suggest reading the article (as I should have done originally). That system is clearly messed up (again, assuming that the people complaining are telling the truth, which isn't necessarily so) and (in any case) it's something that should definitely be addressed. In general, I don't think a license requiring you to adhere to the forum CoC if you choose to post there has major legal issues - certainly when EULAs requiring you to submit to mandatory binding arbitration have been accepted (of course, they are illegal in Finland, but hey, there's a reason the companies don't operate from here:P). This of course would require that it's not enforced in a completely arbitrary and random way, when the repercussions are so severe.
  4. As far as I know, if Uncharted 4 wasn't confirmed, it's the next step down from it.
  5. "Your honor, my client is just a huge fan of popcorn".
  6. Fathers' Day around here... watched some Sherlock Holmes, ate some roast beef and had some of that much-plugged field corner (Auchentoshan) with my old man. Good times were had.
  7. Overall, water seems to look pretty good, too.
  8. I thought Blops was quite a bit of fun (again, I don't do MP), but felt corridorey to me - i'm usually quite resistant to this, and haven't gotten it with the other CoDs I've played.
  9. I think this thread should be renamed from "funny things" to "yet another absurd **** measuring contest".
  10. It's called distilling, and nah I've never tried that. Believe it or not that's actually illegal in the US and quite difficult to do. Brewing beer is easy (well, brewing beer that tastes good is not so easy). Freshly distilled whiskey is clear and almost all alcohol. It's actually only called moonshine if it's made from corn mash. Commercial distillers age the fresh whiskey in charred oak barrels for the period of time. Jack Daniels for example ages their black label for seven years. During that time it picks up it's color and flavor interacting with the barrel wood and as the ingredients in the wort begin to chemically seperate and the alcohol breaks down. Then they dilute it to reach the percentage they want becasue fresh out of the barrel it's around 120 proof. There was a great show on Discovery about that a few years back. And in some cases, whatever has been in the barrels before (say, sherry) plays a big part in the formation of the taste of the whiskey. As is the case of the above mentioned Auchentoshan. I had a boss was in the habit of saying that it's a proper gentlemanly life when you're enjoying whiskey and female company at the same time, and the whiskey has been aged longer than the female company. Though apparently he fell on tougher times and went to prison later on, I hope he didn't switch to cheaper whiskeys.
  11. That's what I'd call a good day. In fact, it inspired me to do the city-bound grad student version of it today, making some hot dogs, then pour myself a tumbler of Auchentoshan Three Wood and play a yet-undetermined game. I think that at that point, it's usually called Moonshine?
  12. Funny coincidence, I have the new(ish) Holmes lined up for today. I saw it in a hotel in the Netherlands a couple of years ago and that didn't impress me too much... but the situation wasn't better. But today it'll be blu-ray and the bigger screen and audio system of Bio Hazard (my home cinema, will probably be clearer to nordics).
  13. Considering the location and people involved, I'd say it is a pretty alien concept. "Trolling" gets thrown a lot around here. That's not trolling. This is trolling: Moving on, the size of this game is a real problem for me. I'm really not feeling a new PC at the moment (1760e was the size of my last shopping list), and my windows partition is absolutely tiny. Insult to injury, considering how fast my (unlimited) connection is.
  14. I'm often surprised you reached puberty (if you indeed have) without someone caving you head in with a brick.
  15. I have high resistance to nostalgia, so I have no doubt it'll still be awesome. I'm just afraid it'll prove to me without doubt I'm now a grown-up and don't have the time to play games like I used to. I'm actually doing this now. But I've been going in stages-- played through most of Chapters 1-3 about 6 months ago, put it on the shelf for awhile, and am now taking it from Brynnlaw through ToB. It's still good, but I am susceptible to IE fatigue in a way that I wasn't 10 years ago. It's actually only the 2nd time I've ever played ToB-- the only parts I really remember from my first try are Gromnir's cameo and the telegraphed end-boss. Anyhow, I just finished off the Fire Giant dude. Ha, good fun.
  16. Machete must always be watched. It was awesome, looks like I have to get hobo with a shotgun next.
  17. Nah, you've just become jaded and bitter to the point where even the best is no longer good enough for you.

  19. I'm thinking of going with BG2. Unfortunately, I think it took me three weeks of holiday time when I last played it, so I'm approaching it with a certain amount of trepidation.
  20. Ok, still not seeing how it puts you into a better position, but I guess it can't hurt
  21. Just means you'll have four passwords to change instead of one if (when) EA's system gets penetrated. Will now start teasing you. They would sort of have to guess four user names too and make the connection first, wouldn't they? I.e. I couldn't care less if I lost my EA logins, as I don't really use them anymore, but it would be a hassle if they could cross reference the info with other logins with other companies. Not sure I follow you. The assumption is that the username and password (and e-mail) are linked in the db, so they'd have four different names and passwords for you. Not sure how it makes life harder for anyone than you... Are you using the same passwords on other sites, is that the point? Or four separate identities that you use nowhere else? For the record, this is genuine interest, I' d like to understand if there's an advantage from this approach, but I'm still not getting it if there is. The way I (still) see it is that having a minimal amount of information per singular database (in this case the EA/Origin one) is the safer option... :/

  23. Yeah, which allowed the guys to get into the good stuff. I'm having major flashbacks from a couple of months ago, doesn't look like anything was learned... (finally got in)
