Square-Enix opens another Monreal studio, creates 250 new jobs. Also they apparently are announcing a new Deus Ex game by Eidos Montreal, but that's not really a surprise nor very clear in the release.

EU criminalises claiming that drinking water stops dehydration

*rage* And what if the energy expended in making these biodegradeables is 5 times that used on existing materials? Well, if they get viable fusion power at the same time, it's a non-issue. -
Still would mean there are more people who pirated the game than bought it. And that's assuming that you guys are not just arguing semantics and both the pirates and pubs are complete retards who either keep hammering MP on a pirated copy or can't/won't differentiate between connection attempts from different sources.

Eidos Montreal studio boss Stephane D'Astous just tweeted that they are talking tomorrow about some of their "big plans". Interesting...

Spent time looking at a new watch. Won't blow my first paycheck on a Rolex or anything that unimaginative, but still want something nicer to replace the Swatch Irony Chrono that has served me well for years, but is quite banged up by now.

I got one of those last week and my initial impressions have been pretty positive. I've just lacked any motivation to wake up in the first place, which hasn't helped. But not so terrified of having to wake up at 6 am again (after almost three years) now.

That's why those bottles can be recycled again. Maybe one day it will come to the US too. Except the methods for recycling the plastic aren't exactly perfect, afaik you can't use recycled plastic to, say, make new water bottles. We used to have a system of plastic bottle reuse, which was squashed as anticompetitive (high price of entry to market). Even that system suffered from the pollution created by moving the water bottles around vs. draining it from the tap. -

Can't comment on that, I was in a EU25 competition which meant that nearly all of the 50 people tested form the 7331 applicants were from the western side of the old curtain. -

The core is in the final statement by prof. Ratcliffe - that when you print something obvious in large letters on something you are selling, it gives the impression that it is exceptionally good at that. ie. better than tap water. Which it isn't. IMO a lot less stupid than the banana and cucumber things they bounce around in the article. But yes, there is a lot wrong in EU. The pay for the bureaucrats is absolutely amazing, at least if one has a family (a lot of benefits are tried to spouses and children). As a single guy I probably make more in what I'm gonna be doing next, but my ex-eurocrat cousin moved to the private sector and is already regretting it... When they tested me for the EU career, I had the happy pleasure of being in a room with some of the brightest people I've ever met. Still, the equal national representation at all levels can result to your boss being a "quota guy/girl"... and well, individual talent plays little role in the work and results of a bureaucracy. -
I have pent-up frustrations.

The rule of thumb I've always heard is that reds go into the fridge 20 minutes before serving Anyone who has mentioned "red" and "fridge" in the same sentence should be executed and dumped in an unmarked pit. Carry on.

****. YES.

Stick figure? You must be playing a different game then, 'cause mocap in LA Noire looks pretty good as well. Yes, we all played a different game than you.

Not sure who did the PC port - Bondi'd gone into receivership by that time. Maybe the same people who did GTAIV?

Not surprised by DA2 on the list, a lot more surprised by seeing ME:Awakening on the DLC list, and not seeing DXHR's Missing Link on it. I've been playing ME2 this week, and after DXHR, it's felt like going back a generation. Glad I like retro gaming. So voted for DXHR where I could, definitely my GOTY.

EA Banning Origin Accounts for Forum Infractions?
Nepenthe replied to Oblarg's topic in Way Off-Topic
Or "competence buffer", when they actually are willing to sort out a problem. Not sure I've ever had a problem that hasn't gotten eventually forwarded (and then fixed) to "higher tier" support... After going through the motions with the first responders. -
Thor is just a fun popcorn flick where Kirk's dad wants to bone Queen Amidala. IMO didn't deliver even on that count.

Been catching up on a lot of non-essential movies I've missed over the past year. Thor was a waste of time (though Natalie Portman seems more attractive by the year) and the dude had a pretty good muscle mass/acting ability index. Blitz was basic Statham fare, coupled with what looked like a troubled post-production. By the time I got to X-Men: First Class, I was near-hopeless, but that one turned out to be pretty good, actually.

Week two of post-dissertation diet or "lifestyle change", as you will. Already feeling superior to people buying frozen pizza, in spite of probably weighing twice as much as they do (well, not at the same height, but, yeah). So, am about to eat a 1/2 sub from Subway, something from the lighter end, probably grilled chicken today. Still too much carbs, but getting there...

I think they set up new requirements for the passwords to fill, so everybody who'd registered before those went into effect have to change theirs. So I guess "upgrade" is closer of the two alternatives...

Post counts only increment outside of the WoT forum. Include this forum and you could probably triple his post count. Also, you missed my stealth edit, I tried to email him through the link in his profile and it bounced back. Just as you misunderstood my self-deprecating humour. *insert waving of the e-peen here* Now you're getting banned from all Obsidian games. :D

Not really, it happens a lot, especially changes in work environment can result in pretty abrupt cuts in forum activity. In most cases I would agree with that but this seems a bit unusual IMO. A "founding member" with over 2k posts hasnt once had the time to log in since Jan 2010? I've had it happen on quite a few forums, and no, it's not because they've carried me out in tar and feathers. Still, echo what Malcador said about just PMing them I mean, I only joined here when I'd become a grad student again. I strongly suspect I won't visit nearly as often if they have me working traditional BigLaw hours at the next place. (2000 posts in, ~7 years is a lot? Do I have to slow down?)
