  1. It seems the country involved is the Democratic Republic of Congo (former Za
  2. The Dark Eye universe is as old and generic as Forgotten Realms... it exists for 20+ years & there are tons of books fleshing out the world (I did some digging)... it even exceeds Elder Scrolls in material. The old Realms of Arcania games took part in the north-eastern part of the world, Drakensang right in the centre. I generally don't care much about plot or characters, it's mainly about the world & its lore/history for me and in this regard Drakensang delivers. That said, I do appreciate Drakensang's characters - characters don't need to talk my ears off about their childhood every 5 minutes in order for me to appreciate them. The game's atmosphere & music are amazing -- it really feels like stepping into a fairytale from the brothers Grimm (an obvious inspiration for the designers, maybe?)... when it comes to graphics & art design I think it's on par with the Witcher... totally blows away NWN 2 imo... and heck the in-game models even blow away the ones I've seen in DA:O. After playing & finishing Divinity 2 it seems another European developed game is going to be a real winner (for me)... and I'm certain the same will hold true for Risen.
  3. Is Imoen the F/F romance option?
  4. Drakensang is great. Right now I am making (relatively) tons of money by letting my charlatan Gladys pickpocket every single NPC in the city... she even managed to successfully pickpocket the Duke. Great fun. I find the setting quite intriguing, too. It's apparently as detailed as Elder Scrolls, but until now I haven't really found much in the way of lore books to read like in Morrowind.
  5. Why give Tim Curry the role of some minor villain? He has already quite some experience as Archdemon:
  6. One wouldn't want to run afoul of North Korean treehuggers...
  7. Let's apply it to Dragon Age: what is the big deal about this "Blight"? Is it some kind of disease that turns people into mooks? Or do the limitless hordes of evil just pop up from the ground every x years?
  8. I think the point is that IF people managed to live well into the 60s in a time where filth was thrown on the streets & diseases were mostly treated by tapping blood, the people must have had heartier constitutions than people nowadays...
  9. I liked all alien companions & hated the humans. Carth's moping was alright because the lad had lost his wife & was betrayed by his mentor... all that happened to Kaidan is that he basically failed to sleep with a chick at school (or something like that)... a bit lame.
  10. If there's any game genre that hasn't declined, it's the chess software. Even grandmasters get their asses handed to them by computers nowadays. Programs like Fritz are so advanced that they even come with their own 'taunt' function when you make crap moves.
  11. 'Twas pretty healthy living in Sherwood Forest, though.
  12. Look at the heavy armor some characters are wearing, or the size of the weapons they're swinging around. I'm surprised they can actually move.
  13. Another game that's about to slip under the radar of most people outside Germany, it seems. It comes out on 4 September only in the German speaking part of Europe. Looks good, seems like a fantasy version of BG&E.
  14. Well, it's bigger than Lebanon..
  15. Leave VATS alone. .
  16. It's the attack/parry system that's a bit wacko in the beginning... to make your attack succeed, you must roll below your attack value... but regardless of your chance of success enemies will parry/dodge by simply rolling below their own parry/dodge value... making it technically possible for a beggar with a rusty dagger to beat a knight in heavy armor with a 2 metre claymore. But it is interesting since it makes mages at least as powerful in melee as soldiers/warriors... not to mention it makes every fight keeping you on your toes.
  17. Romance "confrontation"? Did I miss anything?
  18. Mirror's Edge is one of the better death simulators I've played. I'm playing Drakensang. The game is good, but the camera & combat rules are completely wacko.
  19. And why do people think that Heavy Rain will be any different? Cage basically takes a psychological thriller, introduces some quick-time events during tense moments of said movie, and dares calling it a 'game'.
  20. Thank you, I was looking out for this origin. Those nobles are gonna be so dead when I play as City Elf. Bit over the top though how that slender Elven woman apparently slaughters an entire castle of guards - like an extreme version of Ruth. It's going to be a toss-up between this origin & Dalish Elf.
  21. When in doubt, pick the one with the biggest boobs.
  22. So Ancel goes back to working on more Rabbids crap.
  23. Either Age of Wonders or Dune 2000.
