Cartoon/Anime/Comic settings you would like to see a rpg set in
HoonDing replied to C2B's topic in Computer and Console
One of the cartoons of my youth had a very thinly veiled allegory to Third Reich and German occupation. Nowadays, in our politically correct society stuff like this would never be able to pass. -
Bethesda twitted mysterious pic of Eddard Stark in palace dungeon.

Console version of Crysis was released only last year. Then again, maybe those Russian hacker whizkids ported it already four years in advance.

Shigurui/Berserk is the only anime I want to see turned into RPG. Record of Lodoss War has a special place in my heart, but that's already the Japanese version of D&D. Sailor Moon, though, could be interesting. -
I'm too old for strafing around, taking swipes and potshots at enemies. I'm surprised this Grimrock is so popular. Played enough of Lands of Lore (the old school version of Oblivion, Patrick Stewart included) and Eye of the Beholder when the animals could still speak.

Hardest fight was with blood mage overlord in Denerim... if that guy managed to set off Blood wound, your party was gone. It was made harder because of cutscene teleportation, too.

Obsidian should do sequel to Largo Winch: Empire under Threat as spiritual sequel to Alpha Protocol. Ther groundwork is there already. Turn-based combat! Checking e-mails! Hacking minigame! Romance! And remember, folks, this was 2002! Obsidian, do EET! Also, I had no idea there's a Thorgal videogame, also from 2002! I must check this one out, Thorgal is best Euro comic ever, after 666/6666! -

Anything in Sigilverse. -
As expected and yet surprisingly well done

Is a sequel to DS3 completely ruled out? Has Squeenix made any statements regarding the future of the franchise? -
I like Skyrim as a setting much better than the generic Cyrodiil, but I can only take as much Viking inspired crap. I truly wish for a future TES game (if the series won't peter out into a MMO) to be set in another exotic setting. Akavir would be ideal (Oriental inspired setting), but I'd grudginly accept Elsweyr as well. That's why I'm curious what Bethesda will do in future expansions/DLCs now that they've established the groundwork with Skyrim. Shivering Isles after Oblivion had two very distinct factions to choose from, and you could even betray one of them at one point or play them against each other, IIRC. Bloodmoon and to a lesser extent, Tribunal, had it too.

A comment in another thread about Joe Abercrombie being a gamer led me to his thoughts on Skyrim: http://www.joeabercrombie.com/2011/12/06/skyrim-2/ He seems quite the gamer, actually, now I wonder about Brandon Sanderson.

Out of curiosity, what did he say? "I

Jade Empire must be anti-epic. Your awesome character turns out to be nothing but a convenient tool used by the true villain to remove his rival. If only the twist hadn't been so obvious.

I played both Phantasy Star and Vectorman to death on Mega Drive. Thinking about it more, those were also the days of Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, Record of Lodoss War. Then I lost interest in anime and moved over to LucasArts/Sierra adventure games.

Somehow I think there wouldn't be as much drama about the ending if in place of the retarded Star Child, there had been Cortana.

Phantasy Star II was the very first RPG I played.

Bloodrayne: Third Reich Not as terrible as I had expected it to be. After all it had some gratuitous (albeit hot) girl-on-girl action and Natassia Malthe is a fine specimen to watch.

I can't believe I only noticed now that Santorum is a Jerry Seinfeld lookalike.

This really sucks. It seems he was with Obsidian from the very beginning, too.

That trailer would work, I guess, if I hadn't already seen all movies whose scenes they blatantly rip off. So I am very angry about this abomination.

George Ziets leaving Obsidian (again) (Layoffs related?)
HoonDing replied to C2B's topic in Obsidian General
Maybe he's now at Zenimax Online again? IIRC Chris L'Etoile is there too. I noticed recently in the Dungeon Siege 3 forcum section that George Ziets was no longer marked as Obsidian developer, but thought it was a forum issue... -
Bulletstorm, Arkham Asylum and Arkham City are also on GfwL, so it's hardly a big deal. Needing to put up with Origin just for Mass Effect 3 is much worse. Not sure about Dark Souls, though, I already played Die by the Sword and Severance: Blade of darkness to death and am now too old for all this twitchy action crap. At least the Batman games kindly told me when to press the button of awesome.

Only recent game I know that does this is Venetica. It works well in any setting where weapons and armour are rare, but not so much in BioWare's typical high fantasy settings where one can literally find armour, weapons and magical jewelry in barrels.
