  1. Would have been a ****ty shooter, most likely. So I'd say we can be glad about it.

You aren't a true gamer if you don't hate them since they deactivated Half-Life's WON. :>

I could have known that first if I would have had rssssss!

Good that someone opened this topic, so I can start to razz about it: No rss feed?

Thought about buying it for some future mods, but then I thought 7 euro is too expensive for only that.
  6. I've used mods that added a sleeping bag, so I could skip nights. In other cases I've searched for some place to wait until the night is over-- this I have done in all Stalker games, because I just hate it to run through the night. The developer who had fun with running around in the night all the time should be punished with black screens of death.
  7. Huh, I thought that was already released. I thought I've seen it at Steam some time ago.

There are so many sales and special sales and special special sales, that I begin to not buy Steam games anymore that aren't in some kind of special special special sale. :>
  9. Now I am really curious what that game will be. If people will be "very excited" about it, it must be something we know already. Probably something old that hasn't been touched since a while?
  10. Unreal got key cards and switches every once in a while, but beside it was pretty linear as well.
  11. I bet it's as buggy as that dudes rifle on the preview image.
  12. Personally I prefer devs not try to come up with an in-universe explanation of a game rule. Is that ever explained in that way anyway? We know that the PC wears some super fancy stealth tech, but nothing more. It doesn't make you invisible in the distance (after all, there are scenes in the games where enemies can spot you over very long distance: Sniper-part after the big radio tower in MGS1 [incl. Sniper Wolf scene]), it's just some high-tech body protection (at least in MGS1, 2 and TTS, didn't played any other).
  13. Is the MGS system a "stealth system" anyway? For me it's more a puzzle game, where you try to avoid enemies sight cones. You can even run past enemies (at least in 1, 2 and TTS, didn't played any other) without them noticing you, as long as you don't cross a "loud tile" on the ground. So... yeah... I personally can't see MGS as a pure stealth game. The SC games (except the last one) are more what I would call "stealth gameplay."
  14. But I find MGS without radar to be very stressful. :> Plus, the game is very linear in terms of enemy patrol pattern, so if you play the game a few times with radar on, you can master it with radar off as well. /Edit: But most of the time you "play" the game, you are watching some cutscene instead anyway.
  15. How does that work? Burning the savegame on the cd?
  16. I could never finish Clear Sky, because even with the latest patch I got a ****load of script bugs which made it impossible to finish the game. Call of Prypiat is the best one, imo. It's very stable, has real quests, etc. etc.
  17. There is a writers guild, so I see no reason not to have a gamedev guild. :>
  18. His final resting place was the first one I found, because one of that Fallout 3 bears attacked me out of that direction and I couldn't stand it to remain alive.
  19. Try to get them from two sides. Also sitting in one position all the time is bad too, because the ai will try to run around you and get you from behind.
  20. If just the performance would be better. It runs pretty meh on my computer, so I'll have to keep it on around medium settings. But I love the game anyway. Though, I am not much playing the campaign and such... For me it's more fun to build my own stuff with the editor and play around with this. /Edit: The ai is very good, by the way. You can also test this with the editor: Create two groups (Bluefor and Opfor) with a bunch of soldiers, set their behavior to "danger" and let them run towards each other with waypoints in some random city. The fight will take a lot time, but you can really see how they move from cover to cover and slowly advance, give fire suppression, etc. etc. Always keep in mind that this is not a shooter like... I dunno... all other shooters. It's more a simulation.
  21. I watched them without sound and it was all just "wtf?"
  22. I wonder how it will work in multiplayer mode.
  23. But that is already very low modding stuff. :> If you do simple things, the GECK is the way to go. The problem is more all that deeper scripting that really can mess up your game. There was a Morrowind mod years ago, that - I think - added some hats or what to npcs, always when there was rain weather. The result of that was a memory issue that destroyed peoples savegames-- the savegames couldn't be repaired, so reloading a save where the mod was not used has been the only possible solution. (Fun fact: Bethesda introduced the same bug with one of their later Addons as well. The modder at least could then provided a fix pretty fast.) /Edit: I think it had something to do with unique IDs in the game. There was or is only a limited amount of them-- the amount is big, but sooner or later you hit the maximum and then the game will crash.
  24. Dumbing down modding is the solution.
  25. I doubt that the spoken dialogue is so long that it increases your playtime for hours.
