  1. I somehow doubt this. I'll guess it was just a good place to cut off rest of the map. It also is a lot better than straight invisible walls like in Fallout 3, imo. Feels more natural that way. But I wouldn't have anything against it, if DLCs would add / fix / change stuff in the game world, without adding some new places where you have to travel to. There are still enough places in New Vegas, where locations could be more flashed out. As example, all these locations where few npcs are running around and only one has a limited dialogue. Locations like west side militia or aerotech office park, etc.
  2. Isn't the westside of the map inaccessible due to the mountains?
  3. Exactly what I think. I just can't believe what bull**** they write and it drives me crazy. Fallout 3 got a ****load of boring and repitative dungeons with *nothing* valuable inside. Stimpaks, ammo, same guns all over and over again. There was no need to ever enter one of those damn dungeons. While I agree that many caves in the New Vegas gameworld seem to look pretty empty, it's still not as bad as in Fallout 3. Man, I was exploring the new vegas sewers few hours ago and it was so much more fun than any dungeon in Fallout 3. Especially because I got kind of a reward item for it as well, which is not that common in the gameworld. New Vegas' gameworld > Fallout 3's gameworld. It makes more sense in any way, looks better and is more logical. Plus the game doesn't throw lulzy **** at you every 10 meter. But maybe that's the point... the people at the Bethsoft forum want to have lulzy **** all around.
  4. As far as I've read, the only way to really disarm the bomb is using the deactivation code. Everything else will make the tram still explode... stupid bug.
  5. Blah, now I saw a fixmod for "I put a spell on you" on newvegasnexus... Would be cool, if I would have found it few hours earlier.
  6. Meh, while the beginning of the quest is really good, with the sneaking part, etc. the ending is bugged. It is not possible to save the monorail, it will explode regardless of what you do. First, it seems to be kind of a luck-act to get into the train. I needed many reloads for it. Second, even after I've defused the bomb, the monorail will explode... but the questlog says, all is ok. Sadly, I don't know if this only happens if you defuse the bomb via skill, because that's what I have done and I don't have any older savegame. Would have liked it to test the defusing with deactivation code, but ... I quicksaved after I got the bomb and therefore couldn't try again. Don't want to reload to my last hard-saved game... So I'll guess the Legion has won... this time, thanks to Obsidians help.
  7. Oh man, that's it. Thanks. The npc is going back, as soon as he can see me. So I was heading back into the mainbuilding and waited until night. When I left the place, Cpt. Curtis came out and asked me what I do in the night outside. Thanks to my skills, I've manged it to convince him I couldn't sleep. Now I've waited a bit far away and watched the door... he came out again, moving to the tower. Now I am following him in sneak-mode. Now I forgot my hate about the quest and like it again.
  8. Meh, I begin to hate the "I put a spell on you"-quest. Waiting in the tower was bull****, nobody came in the night. Waiting outside for someone to enter wasn't working too. Waiting outside and every once in a while going inside to watch, didn't worked either... And I didn't talked with the npc before and told him I would be from the Legion. So there is no need for me that the quest locks up... meh.
  9. I've got exactly the same problem. I just couldn't solve the quest in a NCR-way. It would have been so obvious to just blow that guy, but nope... game doesn't allow me. Now I wonder if that has been "forgotten" or if it is unfinished or maybe it's just a bug.
  10. At this stage, he is not a companion anymore and as far as I saw, he stays in the Dam main building.
  11. This indeed seems like it is worth to checkout.
  12. That's how I have done it first. Was sneaking into the houses, repairing the robot because I was able to and then the quest was solved. /Edit: Heh, I just found out that activating ARCHIMEDES II while Arcade in yer party is not a good idea.
  13. Btw. I feel really sad about Arcade Gannon. He felt so proud to fight in the power armor of his father at the Hoover Dam battle, just to get in the end kicked out from the Follower, hunted by ncr ranger, the brotherhood of steel and everyone else (at least in my ending). He is a really cool character and - imo - one of the best companions. Also I loved the part with the enclave remnants. When talking about it pre-release, I really hated that the enclave comes back *again* - but Arcades quest and their appear in the endgame really changed my mind. I still have this one sentence stuck in my head... "getting in, guns blazing, showing the ncr how it's done", damn yeah. And then on the Dam, when the Vertibird comes and all the old people get out of it, fighting. Heh. Really good.
  14. With crippled arms, your aiming is much worse.
  15. Not possible, because on the other side is the legion. The doors are locked until the final battle. What I personally wonder more is, if there are any non-endgame quests in Hoover Dam.
  16. Some npcs ingame sometimes talking about a Mr. Fox. Especially in Nipton are letters spread, which note him.
  17. I don't like the pre-order things, as they ruin the gamebalance in the beginning.
  18. This Machine is a great rifle. I use it as often as I can, because it just pwns.
  19. It's a reference to the gun from Fallout 2, which was a easteregg in Fallout 1. Way too overused, imo. In New Vegas it's a good revolver tho'. Fast and can load ap ammo, if I remember correct.
  20. The Fiend leader in Vault 3 has a chainsaw, which is pretty unique already, I think. In Cass' quest is a dead caravan with a dead Van Graffs guard. He could have some unique energy weapon.
  21. I never got one and I've made all their quest as positive as possible. And I am pretty sure about it. /Edit: Now I see it. But it's not the same outfit. The quest gives you a unique Follower Lab Coat and not a Doctor Coat. No clue where and if there is a difference tho'.
  22. Next one, my new NV mini-mod. It adds a Follower doctor coat into the old mormon fort. I was a bit disappointed to not get it anywhere, if I don't kill someone for it. I mean, I would have never really used it anyway... but beeing able to, if I would... and so on. :> I am working on more stuff already. Only slowly, but at least...
  23. Fallout always was kind of "Wild West" (Sci-Fi Western). If at all, then Fallout 3 broke with it.
  24. Does someone know if it's possible to *really* deactivate the VATS slow-mo, etc? Pre-release, I thought it will be possible to fully deactivate this, but it looks like, this is not possible and you can only switch between cinematic with slow-motion or no cinematic with slow-motion, so regardless what you do, there is always slow-motion. Or there is some bug, because I am pretty sure I have the killcam set to "none" and it keeps showing me how enemies die... in slow-motion. @Mikael Grizzly: What OS do you have? Windows XP or Windows 7, etc.?
  25. Hm the sound stuff didn't worked? My game always crashed because of my Aureon 5.1 Fun Wave sound card. And I know at least one other person who has exactly the same sound card, which made exactly the same crashs on his computer. It is like "as soon as x sound sources are in the game, go rampage and produce a bluescreen".
