Yeah, developers don't post on forums anymore, because anything they say, no matter what, will be picked up and turned into a twitter news story by some folks. People then either get overexcited, or it creates a huge negative backlash... Management usually doesn't want that to happen. Reminds me of the time where everything Notch said somewhere, it was turned into a pointless news article. Urg.

Is there no new Obsidian piece anymore?

Movies You've Seen (or would like to see) Recently
Lexx replied to Rosbjerg's topic in Way Off-Topic
Yeah, it was one of the movies that I could easily sit through from the beginning to the end. Really well done. Compare that to movies like Jupiter Ascending, where already 30 minutes in I kept wondering what the hell I'm even doing with my life. :> -
Movies You've Seen (or would like to see) Recently

Lawrence of Arabia has a really impressive visual quality as well. If not for the sound, it looks like a modern movie. I've looked it up a while ago, because I wanted to know how this was possible. Turns out, movies that had been recorded with analog technology can be remade in whatever resolution you'd like to (and them resized smaller to make them look sharp again), while that is impossible with digital movies (some data is always lost and increasing the resolution would lead to pixelation). -
Alright, bought the DLCs.

Not sure about bloomy, but blurry is specific Dishonored's art style - apparently, the textures were designed to feel washed out and blurred into each other. Yeah, but it's not just that. The whole game just feels so... Unreal Engine. Despite this, though, the game is quite fun. Like a mix of Deus Ex and Thief. Should be done with the first game soon. Not sure if I'll pick up the DLCs as well or just head straight to the second game.

So I bought the first Dishonored game, because it is 5€ right now and... I can't help it, but I really loath the unreal engine style. Why is it that Bioshock and such all feel the same from a visual point of view? Everything is kinda blurry of sorts, and bloomy, and the player movement feels so floaty... Do all Unreal engine games use the same shaders and stuff? It's really annoying to me.

^ they are the reason why I never finished it. A real shame.

You read this and then you remember how every other guy on the internet wanted to turn this metacritic thing into a big Obsidian vs. Beyhesda fight, even though there weren't really any signs about it around.
-
Don't worry. Before the games release, they'll switch to a newer engine to make it look fresh again.

I had to ise offline mode yesterday because my internet isn't working once again and it took many minutes till the client even gave me the option to use offline mode. This thing was loading in limbo forever... i guess until the final timeout happened.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the (Obsidian) Forum
Lexx replied to Amentep's topic in Way Off-Topic
I think Deadpool is super unfunny. -
Anything new mentioned in it?
-
Eh, what's the deal with your fixation on "pro-GoG" and "anti-Steam" ... As far as I am aware, nobody except you mentions this stuff? Based on my experience, there is no such conflict going on here.
-
I have bought exactly 0 games on GoG in 2017. Most of the stuff released on Steam nowadays is simply trash. Just take a look at all these identical MMOs who all just look a bit different. Or all these identical open world sandbox survival games. I'm not saying they shouldn't be on Steam or whatever... I really don't care, because I don't bother with them... Just saying that there is rarely anything interesting going on as of now.
-
I bought exactly 3 games and 2 DLC bundles on Steam in 2017. I felt zero interest in having anything else than these. I can't imagine how painful it must be to slog through these 5k titles in the Steam shop.

/Edit: Wrong thread lel.

Obsidian's Cancelled Stormlands Project Revealed
Lexx replied to Infinitron's topic in Obsidian General
I thought this was about "telling something about the old, unknown projects" and not "what Obsidian is working on right now". -
Did you use the anti-crash mod and 4gb patcher, etc?
-
Is this "Firefly - the story" ?
-
So apparently Obsidian fired a writer or he resigned or whatever because he posted on the codex some stuff once. Now some SJW or whatever folks are all like "rejoice!" and "justice!" and crap. I've read some of the comments and all I could think about was "Why are people so retarded?" /Edit: https://archive.is/FJosW

The Killjoys intro for season 2 was really good. A shame the show wasn't changed into the same "feeling" / style. It just has this weird old school cheesyness going on that I wouldn't mind not having anymore... Heck, it's as if Syfy likes this kind of stuff, because - as far as I can remember right now - most of their shows are stuck in it. It's always a somewhat weird looking female lead, with weird sidekicks, following a cheesy story from the late 90s or something.

Question About Importing Save Game Ultima IV
Lexx replied to destinyguru's topic in Computer and Console
Wouldn't it make more sense to ask this in some Ultima forum? I'd be surprised if anyone around here can answer that question. -
That linked steam thread is pretty gold. Just imagine playing PoE in coop with someone who hasn't played the game yet... If your party is a slow reader, it gets even better. :> Heck, just imagine marketing would have won back in 1997 and Fallout would have ended up as a real time multiplayer title... certainly would have improved the games quality drastically... not. :>

Life is Strange - Before the Storm is out now. Already finished that episode. Short as always. Cringey as always. Still emotional and hooked me up. Damn. Now about two months until episode 2.
