  1. I've read all of Dan Abnett's Gaunts Ghosts books, and the parts I enjoyed the most were always the ones that had interactions with civilians in it / were showing civilian life / anything of lore outside of pure combat. Why is nobody making a 40k game with that in mind, even if just barely? These games, they all look the same, they all have exactly the same focus, and they all bore the hell out of me after just a short time. Really, if I had the resources and would be working on a 40k game, I'd have the player start out as an imperial soldier in some sort of WW1-styled landing operation, do some combat stuff and then drive it all back into a kind of detective adventure game with only little combat encounters. Something that has you interact with a more "down to earth" kind of setting, as much as it'd be possible.
  2. Apparently one of their planes costs $100. That's a damn serious amount of money and these things must look and feel like a real world plane to justify THAT price tag, imo.
  3. Yeah, it's weird at times. I'm also getting these stutters every once in a while. Not sure what is causing this, as it doesn't happen all the time. Once they appear, I'll have to restart the game and it seems to work again. Maybe a memory leak or something... sometimes it doesn't appear at all, though. Still. I'm 33 hours in now, and I certainly did not expect to play it for this long. There is still 1/4 of the map in fog, so unless there will be only tiny side quests, I have a couple hours more in front of me.
  4. Get better. Find trainers and get more strength. I suck at it as well, especially with the combos (I was never able to memorize combos in any game), but if you get into a higher level, fights also get a tad easier. Oh, and get better armor and a better weapon. I'm in full plate mail now and most hits (not all of them) barely scratch me now.
  5. Wouldn't be surprised if it'll be about Theresa. She has a kinda weird fit in the prologue sequence, which makes her kinda suitable for a side story set right after the attack on the village up until she meets the player.
  6. Apparently it might be possible to do some advanced modding with this game. Some folks already posted screenshots of the CryEngine SDK with extracted game files. Guess I could actually change my opinion about the CryEngine.... because none of the other modern engines allows for anything like that. Also I've read they already think about the first DLC in which the player will be a woman.
  7. Only if you do quests and rest / sleep all the time. If you just stroll through the woods, you can spend a lot of time on exploring or hunting and if then something stupid happens... Happened to me as well. Was wandering around through the woods without any real target (actually tried to find rabbits) and accidentally stumbled over an "interesting place" with a chest. Had some really fancy items in it. 5 minutes later I was falling down a cliff and got stuck in a bush. :> Still, this game is just so fancy. It's one of these rough gems that can only get better with patches.
  8. Yeah, the BIOS update completely fixed the crash bugs for me. Not a single crash since. Also didn't encounter any other serious bug so far. Got stuck once, had AI behave like retards every once in a while, but other than that it's fine. Still keeping the savegame mod, because I just can't get warm with the thought of having to possibly replay a couple hours of playtime if something bad happens. I don't have the time nor the motivation for such a game mechanic.
  9. Look at how awesome I look like: This game srsly needs a third person view, so I can look at the awesome all the time.
  10. Hilarious in a good or hilarious in a bad way?
  11. Man, Archer season 7 and 8 were great. Honestly didn't expected that, because season 5 and 6 felt very mediocre and mostly annoying to me. Now I'm carving for season 9.
  12. Today I did a bios update and - with being cautiously optimistic - my issues seem to be gone. I've played for 5 to 6 hours now and not a single crash or blue screen or anything. I've even cranked up the graphic settings again and no crash yet. Now, this could all be purely random as well, but considering the past days I could barely play an hour before a crash happened, I'd say this looks pretty good already.
  13. They probably don't say it is canned, because then everyone would be up on the fence. Honestly, KS and Co. is done for me. I sure as hell won't give money for any game this way anymore.
  14. You know.. kinda funny how you have the constant dot on the screen with and without melee weapons in your hands, but as soon as you pull out the bow, the dot will disappear, because "immersion". :D
  15. Obviously the smarter idea is to arm the students. Just think about it, if one of them starts going postal, there are PLENTY other guns around to make an end to this quickly!
  16. I was wrong, by the way. The crashing is back. Now I'll have to do the sword fighting scene again... Wasted about 20 minutes.
  17. It's clear why the save system exists. That doesn't make it a good system, though. Take me as example- without the mod to enable saving at any time, i couldn't even finish the prolog, as it kept crashing at certain points and made me replay from the beginning of the last cutscene. With that mod I was able to advance a few steps before each crash until I've finally left the crashy phase. You know, all the time spend working on the whole game was wasted, if I can't even make it out of the prolog and uninstall the game.
  18. So despite my better judgment, I started up the game again, this time with the savegame mod. I've managed to cheese my way past all the crashs and finished the prolog. Since then, the game is running pretty fine. Played about 2 hours now and not a single crash or slowdown or anything. This is how it should have been right from the beginning.
  19. Just had another crash. This in combination with the god awful save system really doesn't please my motivation. /edit: As it turns out, I lost about 1 hour of progress. There is no point in trying to explore the landscapes, because I could crash at any time and then have to do everything again... which is simply not going to happen. **** this game, I'm so pissed right now. Just ****ted out my first one-line negative Steam review. I really want to like this game, but this is not something I'm up for, especially when paid 50€.
  20. Well, the game does seem fun and interesting. I'd probably play the hell out of it... but I just had yet another crash. Updated my graphic drivers now and will try again tomorrow. Man, this setting is something I've been waiting for years to come. I'm just so fed up with dragons and elfs and all that crap.
  21. Played for 117 minutes. Already two crashs that took my whole system with it. I just so hate the Cry Engine and all that belongs to it. Performance seems better than the beta, but at the same time they seem to have downgraded the graphics. Noticeable a lot in the distance. Tried playing with mouse and keyboard. Interface seems made for gamepad. Tried playing with gamepad... now I feel I can't walk around precise anymore. Also combat is very... I don't know yet.
  22. Apparently it is a good game if you don't have the bugs, but really crappy once you experience them.
  23. What annoyed me most in Hard West is a memory leak that makes the game run worse the longer you play. Pretty much forced me to restart breaks every once in a while.
  24. It's a czech game. It having no bugs would have surprised me a lot. :> Primary question is: Does it have crash bugs and destroyed savegames like the beta did?
  25. Apparently the game will get a 23gb patch on day-one. I'm curious why they still do physical discs if you have to download a crapton of gb anyway.
