  1. It makes you sprint further and can increase your evasion. I find it a very useful skill on my mobile mechs. With 5 or 6 evasion, the enemy has a hard time getting you. Heh, my LRM boat is stationed so far away, the ai rarely attacks it at all. IMO they should send out some sprinter to try and get you.
  2. Yeah, not much a fan of the large laser either. If I need range, I take the PPC or some auto cannon. My laser hunchback is equipped with 8 medium laser and it can trash just about anything, is reasonably fast and even though I rush him towards every enemy encounter, the mech barely takes any damage at all (too high evasion I guess). The ai should focus on my hunchback as primary target, but they just don't. Grave mistake.
  3. I've put it on my SSD right away and the loading times are very ok. It's really the memory leak that causes all the problems. I'm curious if this will be fixed, as my experience with newer games is pretty much "pretend it doesn't exist" when it comes to optimization. PS: It seems like I am out of the LRM spam phase. This, including the reinforcements bug, caused most of my problems early on. Now that the mechs are bigger, slower and stronger, the focus has switched to sniping body parts. Pure "center core brute force" isn't very effective anymore.
  4. Yeah, the K2s seem to appear first. I guess if you do one more story mission, the C1s should start showing up. Got a Highlander and a BattleMaster for my rooster now. I'm pretty much wrecking everything at this point. Still keeping my laser boat Hunchback, though, that thing is faster and precise. Pew, pew, pew, pew... body part is gone. :> Now how the hell do I get myself some Atlas...
  5. Finally captured me a catapult. \o/ Took me hours with lots of save & load. Actually I only needed 2 parts, but naturally - as it is in such cases - I knocked out the pilot by accident and got the whole mech. To make up for it, though, the repair bill of my lance was > 1.5 million credits.... Sure I could have withdrawn and sooner or later I'd get enough parts, but I wanted it NOW and not later.
  6. If I get the chance, my character always looks like Sean Connery as Ramirez from the movie Highlander.
  7. I had to let the two ammo trucks drive away, and I had to sacrifice two ammo storages. I guess the best approach to this mission is to quickly rush the LRM turrets, then send a fast mech west to catch the trucks. After that, RNG be with you. Haven't found any turret generators in this mission. Everyone on the internet says "just destroy the generators", but there just aren't any most of the time.
  8. I, too, am curious how you are doing this. At present I experience two kind of missions: The ones where I don't have to reload and the ones where I get wrecked so hard, it isn't even funny. The later one are the missions with instant reinforcements. They would be a lot less hard if the reinforcements would appear a bit later and not right away, making me having to stand vs. 8 well equipped mechs. I just don't like this. It made me create a savegame at every mission start now, then I just run ahead and see what's going on. Then I likely reload and divert to the place where the "reinforcements" are standing around. I'll try to knock them out as quickly as possible, as they usually only consist of light mechs. At this point, however, this lance can't be called "reinforcements" anymore, as someone else already said somewhere. They are just another part of the main lance. It's not exactly fun and pretty much the only thing I really don't like about this game. Well, and escort and convoy missions. The LRM swarm increases the difficulty level *so much* it can't be right. I can beat them with time and savescumming, but it's just not the kind of experience I am carving for...
  9. Anyone knows where I can buy a catapult? Tried to farm one from random contracts, but they don't appear all that much yet. PS: Never thought I'd say that, but the laser boat Hunchback is my new fav+. Totally wrecks most of what is in front of it in one go.
  10. Nah, I'm good to go by now. Running with 2.5 million credits and in worst case I have some mechs to sell that would give me about 1 million additional credits. I'd love to get my hands on bigger mechs, but I can neither find them, nor buy them. Guess I'll have to pick the next story mission to advance the tech level or something. Still, reaching that point took me hours today, with countless reloads because I had to suffer huge losses due to the annoying RNG.
  11. I'm more worried about mech damage than pilot damage. The rooster is limited in the beginning and you can't just swap out mechs. This costs money and time and wasting time costs even more money... and surprise, you don't have money in the beginning.
  12. Ok, I'm slowly drifting into "this is so unfun and unfair"-territory. 8 enemy mechs + 1 veteran + 2 striker vehicles vs. my lance of 3 medium and 1 light mechs. Mission is 2 skulls difficulty. If the LRMs don't toast me, then it's the pure numbers game. Even if I circle the map and rush the target, they all clog up on me and just shred my mechs one by one. It's really not worth the reward money at all. I've won it once, but it had my main dude be injured for 110 days, a mech completely wrecked, and two damaged hard. It's not just the repair costs, but also the time needed to repair them... Oh, and I agree that convoy missions are the worst. Same deal here, just LRM spam and I can't even get close. Hitting the vehicles with lasers and... most of the time I just scratch 'em. Best example for why mechs are useless in real--- tanks are just way more effective and don't cost as much. Also there seems to be a memory leak, because loading a savegame takes more time the more often you do it.
  13. Yup, all from MWO and I am a big fan of that. No matter what you think of MWOs gameplay, the mechs all look great, imo.
  14. Well, combat was never hard. At least for my characters it never took long till they one-hit head-popped everything around. Always playing a technocratic half-elf, by the way. Suit and tophat until I get the power armor. Also I love the mechanical spiders and stuff.
  15. I love Arcanum, but the combat mechanics and encounter design is just bad. It's obvious that the game needed at least another development cycle to get done for real. The game in its release state is something like an advanced beta only.
  16. Phew. I'm beginning to agree that injured mechwarriors need too much time to recover. One hit and you're out for a month... and this happens quickly. I guess the game wants you to use multiple people, but simple truth is, I don't feel brave enough to hire more, as this also increase my base costs. The months are flying by like nothing and even traveling to a different system can take you at least a month. I can see how this might become difficult soon.
  17. Not this mech will fire, but the 3 remaining mechs in your group.
  18. I'll imagine the ability works well with LRM boats. Lock a target, then fire away without the enemy being able to reach you.
  19. I'm loving it so far. Played for a couple hours and managed to prevent the worst injuries and damaged mechs. Haven't done any serious refitting yet, as - honestly - I have no idea in what way I should change the loadouts. I'm running ok with the defaults... Got the Centurion from the story mission and quite a few other mech parts. Again, no idea what to give the Centurion and who is to pilot it then.. I've noticed that some of the early missions try to fool the player with the initial starting point. That very first mining company task for example. Instead of going forward towards the first objective, it is better to revert and walk around the mountains. Then you'll stumble over the turret generator without anything else being able to hit you... finished that mission without any damage on my second try. Honestly, I'm more of a missile boat player, so I'm carving for my first catapult. That thing is my jam in non-clan tymes.
  20. I hate scars on my dudes face. It always looks so uber-edgy hard to me and I can't take it serious.
  21. lots of bla bla bla and no facts.
  22. lol that's not even news. Heard about this already years ago.
  23. Can't you change the cinematic stuff in the settings? The game has a boatload of sliders for that.
  24. If at all then I am addicted to the internet. Haven't played much in the past years, as I was always busy creating my own content. Since this month, however, I can't get anything done and just play games in my free time. It's as if I have to catch up the past years... I see no problems in such things for as long as they don't take precedence over anything else in life. If you start staying home, not going to school or work just to play video games, THEN it becomes a real problem, imo.
