Most open world games are pretty crappy. By now, always when I read open world, I'm all like, ugh, not again... IMO there's rarely any open world game that does the open world part good. Just giving me a crapton of repetitive collectible "quests" is not good gameplay. Random fetch-quests is not good gameplay, watching pretty landscapes is not good gameplay, and fighting random mobs every 10 meters is not good gameplay either.

/Edit: Great, forum posted my crap in the wrong thread again. Good job, forum.

I just watched Mandy and it was awesome. Starts rather slow, but the colors and everything is just perfect. Best Nic Cage movie in years.

Ugh, my PS4 still ain't here. Amazon first said friday, but the postal service said tuesday. Based on tracking, the package really did land at the hub nearby on the night of monday to tuesday, but for some reason they didn't delivered it yet. 4 days later and the status hasn't changed. Amazon now says delivery between 2. and 7.11. ... Sucks, especially because the hub is barely 1.5km away from me. Now I'm not sure if something happened to the package, or if they are already overloaded due to christmas next month. If it's the later, then it will be impossible to order anything big next month and expecting it to arrive in time.

Well, simulation games are a thing, I don't see a problem here. It's just that not every game needs to go this way.
-
Wow, I thought this stopped, but apparently it still goes on. I have to head back to the codex and see what I've missed in the past weeks / months! Bit funny how MCA tried to stir up stuff for a while but then absolutely nothing came out of any of this, because - I guess - in the end, everyone feels like this is just drunk rambling.
-
An RPG doesn't need to have a deep simulation of everything. Most user actions are highly abstract, especially in older RPGs, and they never suffered from it either.
-
Well, quite obviously it isn't setting a new bar when it comes to the control scheme, because lots of people seem to hate the button-madness in RDR2.

Sure, once they fix his eyebrows, give him a bunch of scars and make him wear contacts, he may remind somebody of Geralt. Nah, can't do it. Still too handsome. Well, all this stuff like beard and scars and co. can happen while the show runs? It's not like Geralt was born and looked like in Witcher 3.

Great list of placeholders. :>

This new Witcher TV show costume teaser looks really good, imo. Not that you can see much, but so far I have nothing to complain about. It's one of the shows I'm really waiting for now. /edit:

Ok, haven't seen that yet. Last time I checked, there was nothing to be found about it, except the original announcement and a couple screenshots. I'm also blaming you people for not posting it in here. :>

Does anyone really care? Rockstar should force their workers not to do crunch. They have the money, unlike other companies, they can easily do this.
-
I'm a bit annoyed how there is no news about the upcoming(?) DLC except for some screenshots from months ago. Based on what they released so far it didn't seems to be that big in scope, so what's taking so long? Don't want to start up the game again before the new content hits release.

Damnit, Amazon said my PS4 will arrive on friday, but DHL said it will be here today today, which gave me some hopes. Ofc it didn't came today and it won't tomorrow because of holiday. So maybe Amazon was right after all.

Yeah, but this is Fo4 without NPCs, meaningful quests (though Fo4 doesn't even have that many of them hurr durr), and with even more combat mobs around every corner. If you like that, cool, but for me personally that sounds extremely boring and grindy.

Risen 1 is more a mix of Gothic 1 and 2. I actually liked it a lot. Looks beautiful and gives you exactly that Gothic experience. I even replayed that one a couple times... not as much as the original Gothic, though. Risen 2 is not bad either, but I didn't enjoy it as much. The tiny islands, the story, etc... it just didn't worked that well, even though the pirate theme was cool. Also loved the tiny monkey you could have. Best gameplay. Haven't played Risen 3 yet. Don't know why. Somehow it just didn't want to work on me. Maybe I will play it some day in the future. /Edit: Oh yeah, Risen 3 went into that fantasy direction again, which I can't stand anymore. That's why I never bothered with it.

It seems like you may have missed out on pc gaming for the last few years - We got Gun and Call Of Juarez series, more than good westerns. No I have not, but at this point, these games are old, and they are all kinda same-y. None of these games were able to capture me for longe than barely one playthrough. That's ok. I bought the PS3 about one year before the PS4 came out and I don't feel like I've missed anything important. Doubt this will change with future console iterations.
-
Yeah, but who's to say that RDR2 won't have the same issues again?
-
Ugh, so I bought the PS4 Pro + RDR2 because hype and there is barely any good wild west game in existence. Should arrive in a week or whatever. I've chosen it now because of the other titles that will (very likely) interest me (Bloodborne and The Last of Us 2). Bought the PS3 around 6 years ago, so I'm hoping this one will have at least the same half-life and I'm praying they don't release yet another "now totally new and much better" PS on the way. I've read that it is possible to exchange the PS4 (Pro) HDD to a SSD on your own, so I'll see how it goes and keep that as an option.
-
Well, one can argue they did the same with RDR1, which never had a PC release either. But yes, in this case, I'm pretty sure we're going to get a PC version as well. PS: Cheating also existed (and still exists) in RDR1 multiplayer. So no, this is not just a PC thing. Rockstar never did anything against it on console either, they really don't care.
-
Fallout today isn't the same as Fallout 20 years ago.
-
I just don't play enough console games to really be able to justify the price. This and The Last of Us 2 would be the only titles to interest me at this point. Even for the PS3 I've played only few games... The Last of Us, the Metal Gear Solid franchise, Dark Souls 2 and I think that's it. Man, the price / use ratio is horrible bad if I compare that with everything I do on the PC. I'm also using the PS3 as a bluray play, but ffs, the only bluray I have is Mad Max Fury Road. :D So what's the point, really... /Edit: Ffs, Bloodborne is also PS exclusive. This is ridiculous.
-
God damnit, the RDR2 hype is so high, but I don't want to spend 500€ on it right now. I'd rather go for Xbone, as I don't like the playstation gamepad. Do the new consoles have HDD or SSD drives? Don't want to have yet another noise-maker in my room either. I'm so happy about my PC not doing any aggressive noises anymore. /Edit: ugh, seems Last of Us is playstation exclusive... so I guess the next game will be as well. That means I probably have to go with PS4 if I'll do it at all... I hate exclusive games so damn much. /Edit2: But RDR2 seems to look best on the latest Xbox One X (lol there are multiple console versions nowadays.. hilarious). Honestly, I just want it for PC, then I don't have any of the above problems.....
