Well that was interesting, if only mostly anecdotal. Also, no offense to the guy who said that it would be dull, but it was actually very funny, with the story of the space pig and the photoshop of Sagani with demon eyes taking the cake.

So, dragons are generally bipedes in Eora? The weird one was actually the Adra Dragon, not the Sky Dragon? -

Ah luzarius, how we've missed you! And yes, I'm being sarcastic. -

Me, perhaps? If it was, it's no use asking if it's working : back when I was only a lurker, the SA boards would randomly be closed off for reading to not-goons. I like it. I always disliked how only a few base classes would be represented in BG2. -
From what I've read of Game Workshop's strategy when it comes to video games, they don't really pay developers to make games, they've just become a lot more lax about who they would authorize to use their licence. Basically that licence has become a pitance and many developers take advantage of it.

Stupid question : how is that F-35 program seen in the USA? I read a rather long article in a French magazine a few months back which painted an absolutely horrible picture : completely over budget, horribly inefficient, software was ****ed up, cannons weren't working, ordinance capacity were ridiculously low, stealth was a scam, it couldn't get within 25 kilometers of a lightning storm lest it catches on fire, it couldn't dream of performing as well as the planes it was supposed to replace and it had become obsolete for the new kind of war that the USA started fighting after 9/11.

The points of the elves, dwarves and aumaua is to create a fantasy world in which different species have conjointly created different civilizations, instead of having each non-human species with a few ancestral homes and a diaspora amongst the rest of the land, predominantly dominated by humans. The point of the Orlans is to have the popular fantasy former slave race, still discriminated against and put down by the rest of the kith. The different kith species of Eora can't breed with each other, that alone makes a huge difference. There is also the different lifespans. But then you lose the cool elements for the character creator, like the blue-skinned shark people, the hairy cat-people, the short and broad humans, etc.

Right, I got the names mixed up. Basically White March steel > Crucible Knights Steel. Hopefully the expansion delivers and we can get some of that sweet sweet march steel for ourselves Actually I don't think March Steel is the same as Durgan Steel. From what I can remember of that quest, March Steel is still being made but the supply is very limited and strictly controlled by the Crucible Knights.

I think that's pretty much the point. Obsidian wanted to make a game in which the main fantasy races intermingled and created societies together, while adding in a few twists (the fact that they can't breed with each other, for example), the half-orcs equivalent weren't barbarians but a civilization of builders, etc. Orlans are much closer to Deep Gnomes in my opinion, with their art of warfare and somewhat xenophobic approach to life being born from generations of abuse from the bigger species.

I think that's somewhat Gromnir's point about the gold sink thing : the Stronghold should be attractive to some players not because of the gameplay advantages it brings but because of the "bragging factor", so that players want to continue developping it despite its gold sink status and the poor return on investment it provides. -

Is that why they're the only good entries in the EU? Myself being german I think germany is quite a good entry in the European Union. Your mileage may differ, of course. Is it considered an entry when it was there from the beginning and co-founded the thing? -

Romance Packs DLC
Sannom replied to GadgetSun's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Because pick-your-favorite romances in Western RPGs have all been bad and didn't add anything interesting to the game. -
Nope. I mean, look at Konami and how they sold the demo to Metal Gear Solid 5 for 45 bucks! That feels like an absurd comparison, and extremely unfair too. Starcraft 2 had a lot of content for a game with only one campaign, and it's not like the expansions after that lacked the usual multiplayer addons that Blizzard accustomed us to.

I'm pretty sure the guy is wrong about 1), and as for 2), there is no real way to tell. There is nothing stopping the development team from integrating some soulbound weapons in the game's original areas, but I don't know if it would be really practical to do so. -
Who is This God Person Anyway?
Sannom replied to Steve Holt!'s topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
The Devil isn't artificial in the way that the gods are though. Her body is a construct, her soul used to belong to a woman of flesh and blood... unless there is a twist somewhere.
